Happy Anniversary, #FeelsSoProm! ❤️ • I wanted to celebrate with #romanceclass today, but life is relentless so I’ll just have to settle with celebrating it from afar. • The premise was a hot and steamy live-reading event set in a Prom Night theme but OMG, it gave us A LOT of iconic moments and, hihihi, kilig that was way beyond what we all signed up for. My forever highlights would of course be Start Here’s release, the steamy live-reads (esp the LGBT ones),Jef and Gab’s comebacks after a while, the collective retcon-ing of our proms (or lack thereof), LEMONS, my claim to Prom King-dom, and of course, The Other Story. Bec it’s my first work to be liveread - to be in the same room as everyone reacting to my words is an experience! And #Frio reading it ~to me is an entirely different experience on its own too! - and bec it lead to other Happy things! ❤️ • We often hear people sayong romanceclass changed their lives and I am no exception. Of course the positive changes started when I read the book, became part of the classes, etc. but #FeelsSoProm has got to be the biggest, happiest change by far! ❤️ Thank you. I took an extended writing break this year. Which, actually, is just an excuse for my super low productivity writing-wise. 😑 But Past Me had been v productive, and I have him to thank for these wonderful books I’ve had the fortune of releasing this year! ❤️ • 🌈Start Here was released in January, first during #FeelsSoProm, and then we had the official launch party in March. Included in this anthology of queer shorts is my breakout Bastos™️ story and huhu, it is my first baby to be live-read! Just remembering that experience makes me feel things again! 💖🏳️‍🌈 • 💌 Signed, B is my first collection of poetry. I gave it out as a Valentines gift in February and got promptly overwhelmed by positive feedback I got from readers. It’s not perfect, I know, bec it’s sort of an experiment to see if I can self-pub digitally on my own, and I did. I’m working on a better 2nd edition coming out next year but I won’t say when exactly. Heehee. Let’s not jinx it. 😅 • 🧙🏼‍♂️Engkwentro is another anthology I share with fellow indie writers. This time, I got to mix a little bit of local fantasy with gay romance (two of my top interests!) and released it in April. • 👩‍❤️‍👩Last is Out of this World, released in last September’s #MIBF2018, through @8lettersbooks . I haven’t gotten my print copy yet so here’s a photo of the cover for the meantime. • I haven’t decided on a reading resolution for 2019 yet, but I have to force myself to write more next year. I HAVE to release my first standalone, and I HAVE to have more books in the wild! ❤️ Wish me luck and motivation and patience. My #2018BestNine. ❤️ • I started bookstagram this year and the photos y’all liked most were human element shots, book hauls and stacks and *pretends to be shocked* bananas 🍌! 😂 I was reluctant to make this account exclusively book related, but at this point I’m happy I made my IG a happy space for when I need it. • This year, I’m grateful to my #besfluencers, @chachicsbooknook and @readbyher for A LOT of happy things. One could wish for a bookish fairy godmother, but huhu, I’ve been given two! ❤️ Outside of the bookish community, I’m also thankful for my friends (now bosses! 🙂) at @headroomcdv, for giving me a chance to work with them in a unique combo of my strengths: writing, architecture and social media. *The photo in the bottom right corner is by @katclemente . 😘 Lastly, thank you to #romanceclass for all the wonderful things it has given me. From January (#FeelsSoProm!), to their Great Help when I asked this month, this community continues to be a source of love and strength for me. It’s #NationalAuthorsDay (in the US, probably) but heehee, I still want to post this non-book but definitely bookish photo of me and #romanceclass. • This was taken last January, at the #FeelsSoProm event, after all the ~steamy reads! It was the night one of my works were live-read and for the first time, I actually felt like an author, like I really did it - I wrote a story people wanted to read it! And that feeling doesn’t always stay, especially now when my writing slump is at its peak, but I keep this photo to remind me, “Hey, you’re an author now, whether you like it or not, whether you write a lot or not a lot, Here’s proof!” 😊 I always need reminding. 😬 • So thank you, romanceclass!
