Saw your questions about a potential Boey build, and I would say with his natural high defenses and his prf letting him counter close ranged units (which aside from dragons are all physical units), stacking his defense is the best option. I think the best C choice would be Joint Drive Defense or a rouse/oath skill that buffs his defense. As for a blessing, it completely depends on what you want to use him for. He makes a really good counter to units like Ninja Lyn, Legendary Chrom, Yuri, (1)
Fallen Edelgard, and Ash, who are pretty common meta threats in several pvp modes, so if you are having problems with any of them you could just give him a blessing based on where you run into them the most. (2)
Thank you for this! I don’t play PvP all that often, so I don’t often build units beyond their base kits or really know much about which skills are good for what. So this is really helpful!
For anyone curious what the other recommendations for a Boey was, here are these two posts by @emblemxeno
Hello! I did this on stream sunday (FehInProgress on Picarto) and then promissed a proper tutorial, I hope this was usefull, feel free to send me an ask if you have any questions!
It is a very simple tecnique that can bring a lot of details to your piece!
I want to do more tutorials, so if there is anything that I do that you would like to know the process, or just anything in general, please let me know!
We all have those few maps or modes that make us frustrated due to them being difficult for one reason or another. Game content is not always easy to beat, but giving up on the game content because it is difficult can be disappointing.
But actually, helping yourself get through the game content is a lot easier than you think! This will be rather lengthy, but I promise this advice can really help out in the long run!
1. Start calculating if your unit will even survive a hit or not.
It’s not that difficult, in fact it is really very simply. Trust me, I have made this mistake myself. We put our unit in range of another unit thinking they can take the hit... and they can’t. Then they die. Remember to count for specials, things like death blow/swift sparrow/etc.and even threaten skills, ploys, chill skills, etc. All you really need is a calculator. Remember to double check your calculations as well.
2. Don’t try to play a lot of this content all at once.
Playing a bunch of chain challenges or squad assaults all at once can be frustrating and can wear down your patience. Just try and take it slow, do it a little bit at a time. If you play too much, you run the risk of just generally making poor choices that you otherwise would not.
3. Invest in those common units that you may not want to.
Like Sheena, for example. I know many people who don’t want to invest in her simply because they would rather use their faves. While that is understandable, units like Sheena can be good at 4 star +10 and can help you in arena, arena assault, chain challenges, and any other in game content like GHB and BHB. Her neutral stats at 4 star +10 would be 46 hp, 32 attack, 27 speed, 38 def, and 34 res. And this isn’t counting any other way you could improve her stats like refined weapons, IVs, or skills. Think about how many times you have pulled her and (potentially) sent her home! Sure, units that are easy to summon may not be your faves, but they can help you a lot if you actually build them. Sometimes clearing content does require you to use units that are simply more optimal rather than what you want to use.
4. Watch FEH youtubers, they often make guides and give good advice for f2p players.
FEH youtubers like Pheonixmaster1 often put out guides and other useful resources for f2p players. Honestly, a lot of the FEH youtubers can give solid advice and their f2p guides are something even I follow if I am having trouble. If all else fails, don’t feel bad about looking up f2p guides to help yourself with the content.
5. Save your units!
It is important to save your units, especially at first. When you are f2p and need to make budget builds, you never know when a skill you might think to be kind of meh (like harsh command, attack+3, swap, pivot, etc.) might come in handy. There are guides on youtube of what units are generally safe to send home otherwise, save your units as much as you can. On this note, also get into the habit of checking the IVs for the units you get.
6. Legendary banners are amazing for f2p players and this is where f2p players should spend their orbs. (side note: learn to budget your orbs.)
Legendary banners sometimes feel bad for players who just want one or two specific units, but for f2p players, they are so much better. The reason many people don’t get a lot of good units from legendary banners is because they spike one or two colors. If you do that, you probably will get less good things from them. If you summon from legendary banners, try to summon full circles to optimize what you get. But do not spend more than whatever amount you limit yourself to (maybe only do one or two full circles). A lot of units on legendary banners are top tier and are very helpful for clearing content. And budget your orbs... don’t spend more than you must. Remember that we only get ~300 orbs per month, don’t spend and then allow yourself to just run out. Always try to save at least some orbs.
I decided to remove Julia from my main team and replace her with Myrrh. As much as Julia can kick ass, she falls like a brick if a non magic user looks at her funny (that and she probably has some bad IVs...). I feel that Myrrh could give me some variety, with not only being a green unit to balance out, but she's a flying unit while one unit is a cavalier, and the other two are infantry.
What do you think? For those who want to know my team:
Brave Roy, who is my fragile attacker; he goes for the attack, then retreats with Galeforce.
Marth, who is my combat healer with a Sacrifice special and Falchion healing (plus he's paired with Roy so I refuse to remove either of them even though two swordsmen in one team is not a good idea).
hi there!! so i’m wondering what the best units to build from the heroic grails would be since they can get merges now. Or if it would be best as a f2p play to use the units as fodder instead?
Really depends on what you need, and I definitely suggest using them to build new units as some of the f2p units are actually pretty dang good.
Personally, what I would suggest is building perhaps a LA! Eliwood, Groom Marth, Arvis, and Masked Marth (Lucina) as they all have versatile build options and can work as good combat units and/or support units. I still use my Arvis a lot as he works well with his base kit and can work with a simple fury in the A slot and then another ploy in his seal if you’d like. Only thing is with Masked Marth, you’ll need to give her skills but it’s basically a free neutral Lucina and you can make several different types of builds for her.
I don’t like grand conquests much but I want the rewards. Any advice on how to make it more bearable?
Oh mood. I’m with you there anon, rival domains and the grand conquests are easily my least favorite modes in the game right now.
Honestly, just collect the quest rewards to recover grand conquest stamina, do the highest difficulty modes you can get through and if you’re like me, I tend to just put in all my crests for bonus points and recharge if I feel like going through it again. Also try to add some people with good lead units. People in the tags post their lead units around the time of grand conquest/voting gauntlet/etc. so they usually have good units and will readily accept new friends. You can also just add people by looking through the search function. They may not always accept, but at least you should be able to add some people with good units to add to your teams and that should help.
If I do switch them out, this is the Ny Camilla I built last year. My temp flier emblem is her (+hp - def), Spring Camilla (-res +def), Bride Ninian (+res -def) and Tana (+atk -def).
Yeah i would say unless you really like Elincia, Camilla is the better option. She actually looks pretty good, only thing i would change is to give her repo cause thats amazing for fliers and change her seal. If you have heavy blade upgraded and have hone fliers or some good buffs, you could use that to proc moonbow more often. Otherwise a statbooster is fine too. Also make sure to refine when you can, spd is probs best but you can also do def cause she ain’t got terrible defense, even as a bane. Otherwise she’s pretty good to go! -Mod Gray
Another budget advice I feel is important is invest in either Nowi, Fae, or Adult Tiki. They can be so strong once they have the right skills, even though the investment can be a problem. Fae has especially been helpful for me in finishing things from Arena to Squad Assault. I don’t know what I’d do without her. I also hated them at first but my hate for Brave Lyn and Reinhardt was greater.
Yeah, I only mentioned Sheena because I didn’t want to make the post too lengthy or anything, but honestly you can swap Sheena with just about any other easily accessible unit and it works just as good! Honestly though, for new players, just try to invest in basically all those units that you can easily get tons of copies for when you summon for other units.
