Danse:
sole would tell him in private. she knew danse was very professional and discreet about his business, whether it was with sole or not, and announcing it publicly would literally kill him.
he would be tweaking his power armor helmet in their shared living room as a concentrated look painted his face.
she would immediately sit next to him, dumbly playing along with any conversation he managed to pull out, not wanting to seem suspicious. after a few moments of silence, sole sighed softly and took the helmet off of his hands, placing it on the table.
she held both his hands gently, “i have to tell you something.” danse would look at her with concern, but would give her a chance to speak instead of letting any assumption escape his mouth. “i’m listening, love.”
the moment sole announced that she was pregnant to danse, he would immediately blink in surprise, unsure of whether he was hearing things correctly.
“i’m sorry, what did you say?” it came out more of a choked statement than a clear question. sole would then shyly look down and repeat her words a little more softly, brushing her thumb over his hand. “i’m pregnant, danse.”
he became completely silent, trying to process the information in his mind to comprehend the events that were occurring. the minute it hit him in realization, he’d look at her, dumbfounded. “i’m- im gonna be a dad?”
sole would let out a small giggle, “i mean that’s what sort of happens when someone’s other half gets pregnant.” danse would continue to look astonished as he eyed soles belly with shock. “you can touch it, yknow.”
he wouldn’t know what to do with his hands, and sole would have to guide him. after what seemed like forever, he would feel the small bump on her belly and his heart would beat loudly through his ears.
so many emotions overcame him and he couldn’t identify majority of them. fear? hesitation? despite it all, he felt an overpowering sense of love and happiness wash over him. it was so different, so strange, so real. one of the realest and purest moments he had experienced during his lifetime.
danse would slowly slide off of the couch and kneel in front of sole, continuing to stroke her belly affectionately before allowing his eyes to soften. “danse?” sole would watch him curiously as he leaned his forehead on her belly.
“hey there,” he began to speak at their unborn baby, much to soles surprise. “i-i dont know what to say, but i can promise you that i will keep you and your mother safe, whether that means i have to sacrifice my last breath or walk to the ends of the universe for you both.” sole felt her heart swell up at the sight in front of her. it was often rare to see danse so vulnerable out of the blue but whenever he was, sole tried to remember every second of it. with a loving expression, she watched danse with tears in her eyes.
“i love you and your mother so much. i can assure you that i’ll be counting the days till you’re born and ensure that you’ll be raised with the best of our abilities.” he kissed her belly tenderly before resting his head on it. he felt the need to protect her and his child and promised himself to commit completely to their safety.
“i love you, danse.” sole petted his hair, a tearful expression forming on her face. danse would stand up slowly from his position, planting a deep, passionate kiss on her lips as he wrapped a strong arm around her waist. the kiss was more than enough to tell sole how he felt about her pregnancy.
sole would return the kiss with the same amount of emotion and pull back, leaning her forehead on danses own. “i love you too, sole. words cannot express how truly grateful i am for you and the second chance of life you have given me.”
she would kiss him once more, snaking her arms around his shoulders as she pulled him down to the couch. she’d feel him smile against her lips.
Deacon:
sole wouldn’t have to tell him; deacon would somehow find out one way or another.
her strange change of behavior wouldn’t go unnoticed by deacon and he’d slightly get suspicious and concerned, wondering silently if she was terribly ill or injured.
she often went to the bathroom, had strange cravings while straying away from certain foods, wore baggier clothes than usual, and became abnormally fatigued from time to time. she even avoided any hectic and dangerous missions offered by des.
he figured sole would probably tell him whenever she was ready and didn’t want to pry in her business despite being her lover.
one particular morning, sole woke with a small smile on her face, rubbing the small bump that grew on her belly. deacon had been out for the past 2 days collecting intel on some man who happened to stumble in the commonwealth while exploring, so she decided to lay back and relax at their shared home in sanctuary.
she hopped off their bed with a small, quiet hum leaving her mouth and headed to the restroom to admire her bump in the mirror. she folded her sweater up and turned to the side to observe how much her stomach had grown over the months.
“well hello there, sweetheart.” she chirped with a grin, stroking her belly as she continued to look at her reflection. she was so caught up with the moment, she hadn’t heard the front door close and a voice call her name through the halls. she also didn’t notice the door that she left wide open behind her.
she looked down at her belly, humming a small song to their unborn child and looked back up at the mirror, only to be met with a paralyzed deacon looming at the doorway of the bathroom. she whipped her head around quickly, her words escaping her mouth in a panic as she pulled her sweater down.
“d-deacon! you’re home early, i-!” deacon unconsciously took a step forward, suddenly realizing why she had been presenting strange behaviors. his voice sounded so shaky, “sole, is- is there something you haven’t told me about?”
deacon noticed how anxious she became, tears building up in her eyes as the seconds passed. he took a deep breath and placed a hand on her shoulder, “you know you can tell me anything, right? i’m here for you, love.”
sole nodded, taking both his hands and placing it on the bump. she had heard deacons breath hitch completely and felt his hands shake at the feeling of her stomach. “i’m pregnant.”
a long silence followed, concerning sole a bit. after everything he had been through, with barbara and losing her before they could start a family, this felt so right. this was everything he’s ever wanted - to start a family with someone he truly loved. it was a second chance at life and he wouldn’t take advantage of something that pure. “deeks?”
without another word. he picked up sole and twirled her around in circles, a roar of laughter escaping his mouth. sole squeaked in surprise, gripping deacons shoulder. “i’m gonna be a dad!!” he shouted happily, probably waking up the nearby settlers who just wanted to sleep peacefully. they both would share a loud, gleeful laugh.
this went on for a few more seconds before he slowly let her down, embracing her tightly in his arms. he muttered against her shoulder, a small sniffle escaping. he hoped barbara was watching from above, seeing how happy he was. “do you think-“ he muttered, holding sole tighter, “do you think i’ll be a good dad?”
she pulled back, removing the shades from his face. she locked eyes with his glossy ones and wiped the tear that streamed down his cheek. “of course you will be. you’re an amazing husband, and i’m sure you’ll be an amazing father.” she smiled softly at him, caressing his face gently. “besides, i’m really dreading those dad jokes. i’m sure you got a ton of them up your sleeve.”
deacon would chuckle, placing a kiss on her forehead. “you’ll never hear the end of it.” she really wouldn’t.
Hancock:
sole would definitely tell him in private. they never spoke about having kids so it was very conflicting on her end whether to bring it up to hancock sooner or later. she would later decide that sooner might be better for the both of them.
of course, sole would be beyond anxious as she watched hancock carve something on the side of his desk. the scratching sound of the weapon scraping the table only triggered her more.
there wasn’t any build up; no long silence or even a simple, ‘i need to tell you something’ - it just came out as a sudden confession. she couldn’t sugarcoat or hide something as big as this, she knew that from her heart. “i’m pregnant, hancock.”
he would freeze at first but would straighten his posture, eventually turning to face sole with a shocked look on his face. “it’s either i’m high as fuck or you’re suddenly announcing you’re pregnant.” she felt her hands shake anxiously. “y-yeah, i’m pregnant.”
“and it’s mine?” he was astonished. all these years, he’d been thinking that he was physically incapable of having a child due to all the effects of the radiation, yet here he was hearing that sole was pregnant with his kid.
sole would snap irritably, taking offense to his question. “of course it’s yours, john! i don’t go around having sex behind your back,” he watched as she covered half of her face with her hand, tears threatening to spill out, “i’ve never fucked anyone besides you.”
“woah, woah, sunshine.” hancock would immediately take action, caressing her face with one hand and placing the other on her thigh. “i didn’t mean to make it sound bad or anythin’, it just took me by surprise, believe me.”
“dont you think it was unexpected for me too?” he would feel a pang of guilt hit his chest, “i got so used to being a ghoul, i didn’t think having children was a possibility.”
“well it is.” she muttered against his hand that continued to relax on her cheek. “i know you probably don’t feel ready. i know i’m unprepared..” she placed a hand on hancocks own that rested on her thigh. “..but i want to have this child. i don’t know if you feel the same way and-“
“i want to also.” sole felt her heart skip a beat, feeling hancock draw closer towards her. she saw how a soft smile grew on his face. “look, i know this is a big step for the both of us.” he embraced her gently, allowing sole to rest her head on his shoulder.
“we got none of this shit figured out but hey, we all gotta try something new someday.” he soothed her, running his fingers through her hair. “don’t worry about me leaving. i’d rather go through hell and back than lose you. you know i love you, sunshine.” sole closed her eyes, returning the hug as she whispered against his clothing, “i love you too, hancock.”
Maccready:
it wouldn’t be long before sole told mac she was pregnant. she was more than certain he would take the news positively and that he’d be supportive regardless.
she could barely contain her excitement but would try her best to keep it a secret until she had everything planned out.
sole would probably tell him during a surprise dinner date when the two of them were alone in their shared home. she would personally ask nick to take care of shaun and duncan as it was going to be a very important night for her.
maccready would come home from a long mission that he was assigned to by preston and would halt seeing the nice setup sole had worked on while he was gone for the day.
he would nervously smile straight at her, a small blush creeping up on his face, “hey hon, what’s with the whole dinner thing? i hope i didn’t forget something..” sole would laugh at his anxiousness and would rise from her chair, walking over to mac.
she would place her hand on his chest and tiptoe to place a peck on his lips, to which he gladly returned. “you didn’t miss anything, love. just thought of doing something nice today. the kids are with nick so it’s just you and i.” mac would let out a sigh of relief as sole guided him to his seat. “dinners ready, so let’s eat.”
after getting seated, macs eyes would follow his beloved while he took off his cap. he would suddenly feel hungry at the sight of soles homecooked meal. “theres nothing better than coming home to your loved ones and a home cooked meal.”
they both would eat, exchanging conversations often with a laugh, comeback, or witty comment. she’d realize that dinner was nearly finished and that she hadn’t even reached the main part of the night. sole let out a soft breath before sitting up straight.
“i’ve been thinking of something lately, love.” mac looked up from his plate and placed down his utensils to give sole his full attention. “and that is?” as much as sole wanted to make it direct, she decided to tease mac just a little bit before admitting.
“i was thinking of setting up a new bedroom. you know, probably empty out one of our storage rooms and use it.” mac would clearly be confused at her request. “why would we need a new bedroom though? shaun and duncan seem happy sharing one right now. unless you’re unhappy with sharing a room with me.”
sole would let out a small laugh, only confusing mac more than it shouldve. “no, silly. i just think 2 rooms is too small for the 5 of us.” mentally, maccready began counting the members of his family and would give sole a bewildered expression. “there’s only 4 of us, hon.“
she cleared her throat nervously, fiddling with her fingers that pressed against the table. “yeah, there’s 4 of us, but you’re only thinking about the present.” she would slowly stand, placing both hands on her stomach. “the 5th one is on it’s way.”
macs eyes would widen and he’d immediately stand up from his chair, an almost childlike gasp escaping his mouth. “you’re pregnant?!” sole would nod with a happy grin and would walk over to mac, who was still in shock.
she would wrap her arms around his neck, seeing the tears peaking out of the corners of his eyes. “are you happy, robert?” he would enevelope her tightly and hide his face in her neck, a small whimper escaping his mouth. her hands rubbed his back soothingly as he nodded.
a small sob would resonate within the room and she’d feel his body shake in her arms. this would last a few minutes before he could muster up a response to give to sole. “i’m so happy right now, you don’t even know.” he hiccuped, pulling sole closer to his body. sole hummed, kissing the side of his temple as he continued to speak.
sole carressed his hair gently as her husband sniffled through his sentences. “i love you and i love duncan, shaun, and our little munchkin in the making. i’ll do whatever i can to make you all happy.” mac knew sole deserved everything, but only words could only express what he felt at that very moment. “even if i’m not the greatest father, i know at the end of the day that everything i do, i do for our family.”
“i don’t know what you’re talking about, you’ve been a great dad. if only you could hear what duncan and shaun say about you, then you’d think otherwise.” mac would let out a breathless chuckle as sole leaned her head on his chest, closing her eyes at the sound of his heartbeat. he would be sure to give shaun and duncan extra love when they’d come home. “i love you, sole.”
they would stay in each other’s embrace for a long while before heading over to diamond city to pick up their children, hand in hand.
Nick:
when nick started having doubts of him being able to physically bring a child upon the world, he’d immediately feel guilty as if he disappointed sole.
sole would reassure him that it was okay and would eventually let go the idea of having a child. of course, it would resonate with nick for a little while, but he’d try to get over it for soles sake.
a few months after, sole would hear a soft cry echoing through the halls of their shared home at sanctuary, immediately awaking her. she had told nick to stay, much to his dismay and that she would call him if there was any trouble. with a knife in her hand, she quietly made her way down the hall, trying to identify the source of the noise.
eventually, the noise became more audible at their front door. sole would slowly open it and drop her weapon at the revelation in front of her. she would immediately kneel down and take the baby into her arms as she yelled for her other half in panic.
sole would hear heavy footsteps behind her and look over her shoulder, only to find nick standing behind her with an astonished expression. “nick, i- someone left their baby behind. i’m not sure how long it’s been out but we need to wrap her up before she freezes to death.”
he’d immediately take in her request, fetching his trench coat off of the hook nearby. sole would nestle the baby with it and would stare at the basket the baby girl was left in. she would spot a folded note tucked in the middle of the basket and leaned forward to grab it.
“who the hell would leave their baby that vunerable, especially in front of a strangers house?” nick felt bad for the baby; it was often for parents to leave their children behind but he’s never seen one abandoned so early in his lifetime. she was only recently born into this world.
soles eyes would scan the note and she’d let out a small gasp, immediately staring at nick with wide eyes. “what is it, doll?” she looked over the writing once more before reading it aloud, “i’m sorry to the person reading this. the mother for this child passed after she gave birth to this beautiful baby girl. i barely knew her, she was just my next door neighbor. i tried to raise her for a while when everyone else refused to take her in but i can’t bring myself to do that. i know it sounds selfish but i just can’t depend on myself to do it. i haven’t given her a name yet, so i hope you will. please take care of her.”
nick would stare at the child with a sad look in his eyes before looking back up at sole, who put the note on the desk nearby. “what a shame.” he muttered, shaking his head sympathetically. she turned her head to face him with glossy eyes. “what do you think we should do, nick? we can’t just leave her outside to suffer. she doesn’t deserve this.”
he would place his hand on soles shoulder, his eyes locking with hers. “well, i know it’s not an easy decision and i’m well aware that it’s a sudden one,” he looked down at the child, who’s fists were balled up against her chest innocently. “but i’m alright with taking her in if you are.”
sole would tear up at the sight of the baby and would silently grieve for the child and the death of her mom. she was taken before she could see her child and the thought of it broke soles heart. the commonwealth was too cruel for an innocent child to live in. she knew from the bottom of her heart that she wanted to care for this baby and shield her from the dangers of this world.
“yes, i want to care for her.” she whispered, wiping away the tears threatening to spill from her eyes. nick would wrap an arm around her waist, bring her close to him as he kissed her temple. “i know it’s a big responsibility we’re taking, doll but i know we’ll be good parents, regardless.” sole would hold the baby’s hand gently, caressing her thumb over it. the child had wrapped her hand around her pointer finger and she’d let out a small, shaky laugh.
“you think so?” nick would lean his head on soles own, who leaned on his shoulder soon after. “i know so, sweetheart.” he would continue to admire the baby as sole continued to speak. “what should we do now?”
nick hummed thoughtfully for a moment before responding to her in a soft voice, “let’s head over to dr. amari in the morning to get her checked up and once we knock that out of the park, we’ll decide on a name together. how does that sound?”
sole smiled, already forming names in her head as she stared at the beautiful baby girl in her arms. “it sounds perfect.” he let out a small laugh, kissing her temple once more. “i thought it would.”
Gage:
sole was definitely not gonna tell gage about the pregnancy any sooner and would try to hide it as long as she possibly could. gage didn’t seem like a father type of guy so naturally, she was afraid of confessing.
the only other person who knew about her pregnancy was mags. from the moment sole stepped into nuka world, mags was the only person she could truly depend on during times of chaos. of course, this went vice versa.
unfortunately for sole, mags wasn’t aware she hadn’t told gage she was pregnant.
gage and sole went on a mission one afternoon to clear out the deathclaws that loomed around nuka world.
they both thought they would go home without breaking a sweat but it was the complete opposite of that. it wasn’t easy taking down 2 deathclaws, especially while sole became so easily worn out.
as gage finished off the first one, he turned around to catch up with sole but felt himself panick seeing the deathclaw swing his claw at her. with an arm reaching out to her, he screamed out her name.
it knocked her cold on the floor and gage shot the deathclaw clean between the eyes before running over to sole, who only seemed to suffer from a minor graze on the side of her head. he lifted her up, running towards the direction of nuka town to get her treated asap.
it would be nightfall when sole had opened her eyes but she’d immediately shut them once more as she let out a pained groan. her head was pounding immensely. as she tried to get up, she felt a pair of hands push her back down against the mattress and heard a gravelly voice surround her. “lay down, boss.”
“ugh, gage is that you?” she groaned, covering her eyes with her forearm. “yeah, it’s me.” she rubbed her eyes before opening them slowly. sole slowly moved her eyes towards gage, who sat on the edge of her bed, leaning forward so that his forearms were resting on his knees.
she raised a brow; gage appeared to be troubled and didn’t dare to look at her face despite the accident. “what’s on your mind?” she said, concerned for her other half. he continued to look at the floor, not responding to the question that left her mouth. she sat up slowly, reaching for his shoulder. “gage?”
“why didn’t you tell me?” sole stopped and pulled her hand back, hearing the sound of pain evident in his voice. “why didn’t i tell you what?” she knew what he was talking about. there wouldn’t be anything else that he would bring up.
“you know what the hell i’m talking about, boss. i know yer pregnant, mags told me everythin’. hell, she was on my case about it.” sole felt her body shake in fear; this was it, gage was gonna leave without another word. she was gonna be alone again. “i’m sorry, i-“
“what the fuck did you expect me to do if i lost you and our kid? you can’t keep prancin’ around like that if you know damn well yer pregnant!” he turned to face her, an irate expression on his face, “i hate talkin’ bout feelings but damn. it’s a pain to lose you but to lose both of you? yer gonna fuckin’ kill me.”
“gage, i’m sorry, i just- i was afraid you were gonna leave. i was afraid i was gonna have to do this all alone.” her voice trembled quietly, feeling the guilt build in her chest. gage noticed this and his expression softened a bit. he used his arm to pull sole into a small embrace, muttering in her ear gruffly. he just didn’t want her to see the blush growing on his face.
“the fuck you talkin’ about? i told you there’s no one else i’d rather raid the commonwealth with and i meant it, so stop yer worryin’.” sole returned his hug, his scent calming her down as she spoke. “okay.” he pulled away from the hug, laying her back down on the mattress. “rest up. we’ll talk about it more in the mornin’.”
he made his way to the opposite end of the bed, joining sole as he wrapped an arm around her waist. “promise we’ll talk about it?” she said, turning to face him. “yeah.” he watched as she closed her eyes, a content smile growing on her face.
once he knew she was asleep, he placed a hand on her growing belly and allowed a half smile to paint his face. “still in the womb and yer already a headache,” he murmured, “you get it from yer dad tho.”
LOVE GUN (MacCready x fem!sole)
Summary: MacCready gets hired by one, if not the most mysterious woman of the Commonwealth.
No name, no talking. MacCready didn’t even know her name or voice but there were two things he could be certain about that peculiar job: he would be handsomely paid and that his boss carried a heavy past on her shoulders and hid it away in the depths of her heart.
MacCready had a policy of not making questions, but it wouldn’t be long until he would drown in a sea of questions.

CHAPTER ONE “It’s Not Unusual”
He was laying comfortably in one of the VIP room chairs with both of his hands on the back of his head. “ Caps… ” he thought, “ that’s what I need right now.”The room was wide and with no one except for himself, tranquil under the warm lights on the walls and ceiling. From where he was, he could clearly hear Magnolia’s beautiful voice, singing jazz as usual. He passed his thumb through the rifle that rested by the side of his chair, close to him. He thought about getting a drink to let the time pass by and wait, but he reminded himself he was on business.“Can’t do that right now, MacCready .” He muttered to himself.Even if he didn’t take a drink like he would always do, that day was like any other; waiting for caps to roll in—or so he assumed.
“Can’t say I’m surprised to find you in a dump like this, MacCready.” A man said while walking into the room.
It was no other than Winlock accompanied by Barnes. Both walked their way to MacCready and took a menacing posture towards him.
“I was wondering how long it would take your bloodhounds to track me down, Winlock.” He started with an annoyed smile.
MacCready knew the Gunners wouldn’t stop being on his tail. Not while he was taking jobs. But he had no choice, he would fight his way through if he had to, but even himself thought it was rare to not see them for a while now—really unusual.
“It’s been almost three months… don’t tell me you’re getting rusty .” He mocked while slowly approaching his rifle with his right hand, preparing himself “. Perhaps, should we take this outside?” MacCready asked while steadily gazing Winlock in the eyes.
“It ain’t like that. I’m just here to deliver a message,’ Winlock replied.
“In case you forgot, I left the Gunners for good .” He hissed.
“Yeah. I heard. But you still are taking jobs in the Commonwealth. That isn’t going to work for us.”
MacCready wasn’t going to have it. “I don’t take orders from you…”
He remembered the days he served as a Gunner, when the money was good but not the things they did for it. A word that fitted those memories perfectly was no other than “shame”; the shame he felt for the things he had done.
“not anymore,” he continued. “So why don’t you take your girlfriend and walk out of here while you still can.”
“What?” Barnes whimpered in displeasure “. Winlock, tell me we don’t have to listen to this shit…”
MacCready stood up from his chair and faced Winlock. He wanted them to leave at that moment if possible.
“Listen up, MacCready. The only reason we haven’t filled your body with bullets is that we don’t want a war with Goodneighbor” Winlock grunted “. See, we respect other people’s boundaries… we know how to play the game, something you never learnt.”
MacCready smiled and crossed his arms. “Glad to have disappointed you.”
Winlock chuckled a little and dedicated him a menacing glance. “You can play the tough guy all you want, but if we hear you’re still operating inside Gunner territory, all bets are off. You got that?”
MacCready clenched his jaw and furrowed his brows. His chest puffed and his hands were closed in a tight fist.
“You finished?” He questioned with a mad and daring look in his eyes.
“Yeah… We are finished. Come on, Barnes.”
MacCready watched them leave through the door with heavy steps. That was their last warning. Then, he sank into his comfortable chair and decided to ask for a drink, which he surely needed to relax. He softly swayed the drink in his hand and took a sip from it.
As he continued his drink, someone approached him across the room: a young lady. Perhaps she was lost, he thought. She looked far too young to request his service, but as long as she had money everything could be handled.
She had short black hair and long bangs that fell behind her ears, and as his gaze went further into her, more he found mesmerizing and magical. Her eyes seamlessly looked like they had been shaped by knives and their irises were a beautiful pitch-black color, her scar-less skin was pale like pre-war porcelain and it looked beautiful with the blue vault-suit covered in great green armor. A vault-dweller.But again, he wouldn’t have it. Certainly, she wanted something from him he didn’t have.
“Look, kid. If you are going about the Atom, or looking for a friend, you’ve got the wrong guy.” He remarked uninterested. “But if you are looking for a hired gun… then maybe we can talk.”
MacCready got up from the chair and left the drink on the table next to him. He noticed how small and slim she was compared to him, almost feeling like he could easily hold her.
The young lady opened and looked inside the many of the pockets of her light armor searching for something. She took a paper that was carefully folded and then she handed it to MacCready lay open.
He took it gently and read it. In a simple handwriting, the letter said: “I want to hire you. ”
He smiled. “I’ll tell you what. The price is 250 caps… up front, no bargai—”, and suddenly he was interrupted when she threw him a small and heavy bag.
He caught it on the air and felt the sharp ends of some kind of metal. As he opened the bag, he saw a large amount of caps in it and instantly knew it was more than he asked—it was almost the double, probably more. He frowned in confusion.
After she knew with certainty that he checked the bag, she handed him another letter. “ 600 caps… up front.” It said.
He walked around the room, thinking. “ How dangerous is the job if she is paying me this much? ” was one of the many thoughts he had. He crossed his arms and kept wandering around the room to ponder. All he could imagine is that the job was seriously risky that he could die while accomplishing—something he definitely couldn’t afford, but the money was worth the risk, for Duncan .
Another question that came to his wondering mind was another simple but important question: Who is she? A vault-dweller usually knows little to nothing about the world but most importantly, a dweller would never be alone and wouldn’t have that much money.
McCready when he stopped and looked at her again, he noticed the tip of a colorful tattoo on her neck that was hidden behind the blue vault-suit. It seemed like ocean waves; he wasn’t really sure about it. She didn’t feel from this world.
“So… What’s the job?”
So much paper. The lady gave her another piece of paper with something written on it, demonstrating her prior preparation for this situation.
“ Work for me. I need an extra hand in the Commonwealth. That’s all. You’re in? ”
MacCready stared at the letter for some time. 600 caps up front. He couldn’t let her pay so much, he knew real’ well how someone could need a lot of caps to get something they need or want. His morals told him to be fair, even if he needed them too.
MacCready gave her the bag back. “It’ll be 300 caps then. No bargaining.”

Next Chapter of Dad!Hancock is Up!
Sure enough when Hancock wakes up the next day, Talia still isn’t home. What gives? And how the fuck are you supposed to wake up a 6 year old that you know is up anyway but wants to stay in bed?
Original ask is here
self-indulgent? ._. It’s my Fem!Sole. (Look! I did the write, with the words and stuff! haha) As I stated in my tags on the original post, this is AU towards Caden because my headcanon is that they’re only best friends and they don’t feel anything for him romantically. ouo I thought the prompt was cute though.
"Why are you always in here?" Haylen hummed quietly as she looked over towards Caden who was making themselves useful by crafting up some stimpaks for the other soldiers.
As Caden's attention drew towards where Scribe Haylen was their cheeks tinted a light shade of pink as they shrugged their shoulders. They feared to speak because their voice would most likely crack. There were many reasons why Caden likes to hang out at the Cambridge Police station. They liked that it was a little more laid back than from when they were on the Prydwen. Caden also really enjoys talking with Haylen, they've actually gotten pretty close over such a short period of time and Caden is happy to call Haylen their friend.
"I like being here.." Caden mumbled lowly.
Haylen could only grin at the reply, Haylen was anything but stupid. the scribe knows that Caden hangs around at the police station for the off chance that they would run into a certain Paladin named Danse. Just as Haylen was about to open her mouth, low and behold Danse walked through the door and Haylen's grin only spread more as she watched Caden's face turn a little redder.
Caden was fixated on making the stimpaks, trying to calm their own mind that they didn't realize that Danse had spoken to them. They were snapped out of their daze when they felt a hand on their shoulder. Caden's head snapped up to see Danse standing beside them. Danse looked quizzical as he stared at Caden which only made Caden blush darker.
"Are you not well?" Danse asked softly and Caden had to swallow the lump in their throat.
"I-I'm fine sir! Sorry, I was just making some stimpaks for anyone who would be going out soon." Caden finally breathed out quickly, they hadn't realized they were holding their breath and now they were mentally slapping themselves.
"Pfft" Haylen let out a small noise of amusement which caught Danse's attention.
"What's so amusing to you Scribe Haylen?" Danse asked and Haylen tried to wipe the grin off her face.
"Nothing sir." with that said she walked off as Caden was internally screaming for her to come back.
Caden knew it was no secret to Haylen that they sort of had a crush on the Paladin and its not like Caden was able to hide the guilty look on their face every time Danse was in the same room. Caden would often forget what they were doing or mess up their words when ever Danse spoke to them. Knight Rhys thought that Caden was just being clumsy all the time yet he failed to realize that they work perfectly fine when Danse isn't around.
"Uhm- I-I need to get some more things.." Caden said softly as she tried to slip away from Danse but ended up banging their hip into the chem table. They let out a loud "fffff" noise as if Caden was deflating. Haylen could only watch from across the room and cover her mouth to resist the urge to laugh loudly.
Danse looking rather concerned, tilting his head off to the side slightly as he spoke. "Are you alright soldier?" He raised an eyebrow as he watched Caden's eyes close and their hand come up to wave in front of their face.
"All good! It'll just bruise a little that's all." Once again, Caden was mentally kicking themselves.
"Soldier, come with me. There is something I'd like to discuss with you." Danse spoke loudly and demanding which made Caden's eyes open and her body stiffen. "Oh crap, am I in trouble? One too many slip ups? Is he gonna kick me out!? oh craaap!" Caden thought to themselves as they followed Danse into the old Interrogation room.
"I've known about something for a long time and I think it needs to be addressed before you end up killing yourself," Danse said, his facial expression softening a little. Wait, was he- smiling a little?
"W-What do you mean?" Caden tried to play it off as if they didn't have the faintest idea of what Danse was talking about.
"I know you like me, soldier. I know it's more than simple friendship you feel as well." Danse's own cheeks tinted a light pink as he spoke out.
Caden felt like they lost all the air in the lungs as they heard Danse speak. their eyes widened and their face turned a dark crimson, Caden's attention went to the floor- it had become more interesting to stare at.
"I've been watching you a lot actually. Stumbling over your words, tripping or banging into things because you're not paying attention. Haylen also told me when I told her I had my suspicions."
Caden swallowed loudly. they didn't know why but they got a really, really bad feeling in the pit of their stomach.
"I guess what I'm saying is- Now that you know, that I know can you please be more careful. I don't want to take you out onto the field and have you get killed because your attention is on me and not the enemies." Danse spoke sternly as he walked passed Caden.
Caden's head hung low, they knew Danse was only looking out for their well-being but it still sucked to be called out and have nothing happen.
Danse stopped in the doorway before turning to face Caden. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost someone like you. You mean a lot to me solider."
Caden's head shot up, their eyes once again widening but this time from utter shock. As they turned on their heel to face Danse he was already walking away. Caden placed their hand over their heart as if trying to stop it from beating so quickly. A small smile spread to Caden's lips as they trailed out of the interrogation room. Something told them that today was gonna be a good day.
