Clark ⋆✴︎˚。⋆
Clark is the kind of husband to keep you within arm's length while you're pregnant. It doesn't matter how much you insist you’ll be fine getting up to get stuff by yourself; he always gets it for you.
Clark has never kept his eye on you like this before. He respects your need for alone time as much as he needs his. But ever since you’ve started carrying his child, he can't help but check on you more than usual. It started with him poking his head in, then conveniently walking into the same room with you and sitting down nearby. Now every time you get up, he gets up, following you from room to room. Telling him off works for about ten minutes, then he’s back to his previous behavior.
Clark has never been the kind of health-nut guy. He doesn’t eat recklessly but doesn’t stress about waiting out every once in a while. At the doctor’s appointment your doctor suggested getting in more proteins and vitamins since you’ve felt groggy, and Clark took their word as law.
You sat down at the table poking your fork at the newly discovered recipe Clark had found online. You slouched shoulders and repeated huffs portrayed just how thrilled you were about this dinner. "Clark," you sighed, leaning back against the chair, unsure whether to laugh or cry at just how boring these meals were. “What?” He replied, lifting his head from the plate, pretending to be surprised. With one look from you, Clark sighs and says he’ll lay off the healthy recipes.
Obsesses over finding the perfect name for the baby.
Clark sat down on the couch, flipping through yet another book, hoping to find inspiration for a name. He scoffed with each page, each name sounding more ridiculous than the previous one. “I hope you didn't wake up early just to do this." You rubbed your eyes, walking past the couch to the kitchen to make yourself tea to help wake you up. “How does the name Michael sound to you?” Clark called out, waiting to hear your response. When you didn't reply, he took it as a no and flipped to the next page.
Clark has read about pregnancy cravings. The books he read talked about pickles and weird foods with mayonnaise, but they never talked about how weird they could get.
Clark stared at you from across the table, looking you up and down as you ate ice while sniffing cleaning products he had picked up earlier. His mouth hung open as he furrowed his brows, wondering if he should get up and take it away from you or let you go on. “You’re not going to... drink that, right?” You simply shook your head, taking long, satisfying inhales of the zesty lemony scent that you’d been craving.
(If you’ve never heard of this look it up on tik tok lol its hilarious to me— makes sense why we had the tide-pod challenge if u think about it)
Takes time off that he never would usually to spend time with you.
Clark has always been the type of man who wakes up before the sun and leaves just as it starts rising to head to work. Recently he’s started noticing how alone you are for most of the day. You’ve tried hanging out with groups of other pregnant women but found yourself surprised with how cliquey it was.
You dragged your body out of bed. You groaned, stretching your back, still not quite used to how much your body ached from simply walking. Despite it, the pain was nothing that couldn't be solved with a morning coffee (or tea.) As you walked downstairs, you were surprised to find Clark. Still in his pajamas holding a mug of his own coffee while still waiting for yours to brew. He looked over at you, more surprised to see you up than you were to see him. “I didn't think you got up this early..." Clark sat down at the table, inviting you to sit across from him.
Clark enjoys decorating the baby’s room more than he ever imagined he would.
The two of you stood in the room wearing “protective "gear"—old and unused aprons one of you bought years ago. Clark painted the walls a beautiful buttermilk yellow. While you attempted to paint a rainbow on an already dried painted wall. You really hadn't expected Clark to care about this sort of thing. But he was insistent. In the corner sat a rocking chair from his furniture store, painted and reworked to look completely new. The crib was adorably decorated. The sides were padded with laced white pillows with a thick woven blanket beneath with animals embroidered on it.
You stood up, taking a moment to catch your breath while also admiring the effort put into this room. Clark looked back at you, handing you a water bottle. “Looks nice, right?” A smirk grew on Clark’s face as he too looked around. “Hopefully the baby likes it.” He looked down at your stomach. You placed a hand over it, rubbing it gently. “Baby has no choice. I'm not redecorating this room until they're at least seven.” Your back pain from repeatedly bending down to get more paint on your brush was enough to make you stop here.
