Answering some old radfem asks which have been sitting around in my inbox...

🍯are there any things you do to feel connected with your female ancestors?

Yeah, of course. Sometimes it’s small things, like just sitting around feeling grounded and like part of the world, meditating on being a woman...

Also ever since I started using a menstrual cup I feel suuuper connected to female ancestry through the small ritual of just changing my cup and stuff. Looking at that blood and knowing it’s flown for women from the dawn of humanity is pretty goddamn cool.

I dabble in witchcraft too, and I’m working on my tarot skills, and it’s definitely something that makes me feel in touch with female magic and ancestry.

“NO SEXISM IN MTG”

I am a female. I play MTG a lot. I’ve been playing since original Innistrad block, and I wanna take a minute to discuss the idea that there is no sexism for females in the MTG community. 

Buckle up, it’s story time.

Around the end of Khans block/start of Theros block, I was still an intermediate-beginner. At this point, I still wasn’t sure about what kind of deck I wanted to play, so I would want to switch decks a lot. I would come to my (then, now ex) boyfriend and ask him for advice on my next deck. Keep in mind, I wasn’t asking him to just buy me a new $200 deck every week, I wanted to use what we had.

The problem was, he eventually grew tired of helping me. He told me that I wasn’t allowed to play any other format besides standard. Now, that’s not really okay. But, that’s not the worst part.

Along with only allowed to play standard, he told me I was only allowed to play Mono-Red Aggro (Boss Sly at the time) because, and I quote:

“...A trained monkey could play that deck”.

His friends just sat there and laughed. These men were 25-30 years old, meanwhile I was only 19.

But please tell me more about how it doesn’t exist.

Inside it is a city where houses are built from memories. The windows glow with quiet hope, and the streets lead not to people, but to thoughts. She lives between form and feeling, where the walls are the boundaries of the soul. Sometimes it seems to her that everything can be rebuilt if you change the color of the sky. But for now, she's just watching — and breathing in the geometry of the world.

TAG 3 Busan - Disqualifizierung?

Ein toller Tag geht zu Ende. Magic pur von 9 bis 21.30 Uhr. Zuerst der Stage Contest. Wie bereits erwähnt, hat mir neben vielen anderen PC Mutton Curry Spectacular gefallen. Wie ich gerade erfahren habe, gibt es hier von Seiten der Jury zu klären, ob es eine Disqualifizierung wegen Zeitüberschreitung gibt. Die rote Lampe ging an und ordnungsgemäß hat der Spectator jegliches Equipment von sich “geworfen”. Das geplante Erscheinen seiner Bühnenpartnerin hat er somit nicht mehr gezeigt. Allerdings hat er sie für alle sichtbar nach sich von der Bühne “gezogen”, was einen Lacher beim Publikum erzeugt hat. Und hier liegt nun die Frage: ist in der Sparte Comedy das noch ein Effekt (da ein Lacheffekt) gewesen? Ich drücke die Daumen, dass dem nicht so ist.

Danach ging es weiter zum Close-up Contest. Gleich mit 3 Teilnehmern aus Deutschland, die alle perfekt waren. Die Darbietungen von Starman aus Italien , William Seven aus Brasilien und Show Takashige aus Japan waren ganz Besonders. Durchdachte, ausgereifte Darbietungen auf höchstem Niveau. Ich drücke allen die Daumen!

Abends ging es dann zum Magic Circus. Norbert Ferre hat die Show inszeniert und das wirklich perfekt. Hektor Mancha, Thommy & Amelie (siehe oben ein Foto von Amelie), Katrin Weissensee mit ihrer wunderbaren Sandmalerei, Vik and Fabrini (Gewinner 1988) David Burlet und Jorge Blass haben den Abend einfach unvergesslich gemacht. Es wird wirklich etwas geboten bei dieser FISM. 

Morgen um 8.30 Uhr geht es weiter mit dem Stage Contest - ich werde berichten.
