Engagement
So since my last post, my girlfriend surprised me with a proposal for marriage. Definitely, a very big surprise, she asked my parents and her parents. Every one definitely agreed and I absolutely said yes! I’m obviously upset about the fact that I couldn’t be the one at this point to ask. I feel the same way about her that she does me. She makes me very happy and wants to see me succeed in everything that I do. She is welcoming my daughter with open arms, helping me make a room for Reighlyn, even if I don’t get to have her at all. I am completely comfortable in the fact of being her fiance and going forward with a marriage right now.
I love also the tradition behind it, which Im not exactly sure is totally true or not due to the internet. In Ireland, St. Brigid and St. Patrick struck a deal where originally it was going to be every seven years that St. Patrick would allow the woman to propose. They ended up coming to a final conclusion of the leap day of leap years being the day that women can propose to men. Beyond the tradition, I believe we’re at a point with culture and life that it should be allowed either way. There shouldn’t be a necessary reason that man has to be the one to choose to wed his wife and not the opposite.
I am definitely a very happy man and I cannot wait for the wedding that we are in the planning stages of being some time in Autumn of next year, around September-October. We’re in a good place in life and I believe we can only go up from here! I can’t wait to be the dorky married couple Mr. and Mrs. Creighton.
