Maybe tmi
So I bought a menstrual cup a few weeks ago and today was the day I could try it. Let's just say my excitement was quickly replaced by fear. It took a couple of tries to get it in, but once it was in I didn't feel the expected 'pop' of it opening. So I felt around a little and realised it must have twisted sideways as I couldn't feel the stem and it was still folded. I've just spend over 2 hours in the bathroom trying numerous ways to remove it and reading horror stories of people who have had to go to A&E after a couple of DAYS to have it removed. Yes this did terrify me. Unfortunately my fingers were too short, the rubber too slippery, and my vagina too tight for anything to work at first. Though I guess after so long of prodding around I must have loosened myself a little, or perhaps my muscles just gave in to the prodding and relaxed a lot. But I did finally manage to fit a finger all the way up and around the lodged-in cup to slowly and painfully drag it out. Needless to say, I am now rather sore and not in a hurry to try that again this week. (Though I do intend to try it again next month... If I'm brave enough)

Femmecup
So I was on a coach to London and we had a stop for dinner when we had the toilet break me and a group of friends went on the stall on my toilet had a little sticker for a product named femmecup it was funny enough until I read underneath someone had wrote in pen "keep your period in control"& "10/10 would buy" so me thinking only me and my friends are in there shouted "femmecup keep your period in control" that is until I heard one of my teachers shout back "I do hear you maddie" me and my friends ran back to the coach and immediately looked up the reviews for this magical devise and honestly I've never laughed so much in my life someone thought it was a egg cup holder and we read the one star ones dramatically moral of the story is all the year 8s know what one is how to use it and the dangers Femmecup changed all of our life's that day
Because I know how some people react, I want to start this review by saying that if you don't like reading about something as natural as menstruation, this is not a review for you, because today I'm dealing with Femmecup, a glorious greener alternative of sanitary protection!
Let me say that this was my first contact with a menstrual cup, and after a trial of two months I can say I'm a total convert. Bye tampos, and bye forever. What's the issue? Instead of absorbing all of your fluids (and hence, causing driness to many) this cup collects your menstrual flow, making your vagina way happier and healthier. Also, you don't get in contact with any chemical residue (hello bleaching).
It is basically a soft silicone cup that holds 30ml (3 times more than a tampon) but since it doesn't absorbe fluids, there is no risk of TSS, since the bacterial flora is not altered. It can be left inside for up to 12 hours (yes, really) and after removing it you just empty it, rinse it, and put it inside again. The structure makes a seal with your vaginal wall so there are no leaks (I swear, this is fantastic). It has two capacity marks, and a 15mm long, ridged stem that aids in its insertion and removal (which can be removed if you please, btw... but I like it as it is).
It is super easy to insert, but not with the example fold I pictured (I photographed it before trying it so I didn't know what would be best for me). Instead, I use the "punch down fold" shown here, which I think allows for greater comfort and control. Removing it does take some practice, but it is worth it.
As I said, I love it. I think it is very comfortable, very convenient and very higienic (especially if you clean it with a soft soap like Femmewash, which is gentle to your delicate areas, made with aloe vera and essential oils). It's mean to be used for like 5 years so you can also save a lot on other products. When I finish my periods, I just boil it and store it in the cotton bag.
I know it can seem a bit weird, but being tired of the driness I thought it was worth a try. I knew I was going to like it but I actually love it. My youngest sister also finds it super interesting and will be getting one for herself! So if you want to try a greener, more convenient and healthier option for those days of the month, be sure to get more info about Femmecup!
I knew the day would come
when I would drop my menstrual cup in the toilet. I'm just glad it happened at home. Totally handled it like a BOSS.

I love to empty my femmecup, and I've only had it for 2 days. This is going to be five awesome years!!!
