what do you think about "girl raised as a son" stories? can they be seen as a compliment to stories like gwyndolin's, or are they different? ive only seen a couple but its always like "my father wanted a son, i had to be tough but then i got rescued by a het romance and now i can wear dresses like i always wanted to"
i would say they’re complimentary! on some level both sorts of stories are a convenient way for cis writers to make characters with complicated gender feelings without having to actually write a trans character. both i think are influenced and informed by a devaluation of femininity!
