Update on Feral Devotion and Ask submissions.
Hi guys, I'm currently back on working on chapter 3 and 4 for Feral Devotion. And the asks requests.
I got burnout at work and it caused an issue with my creativity. But I haven't abandoned it. Please expect more stories in the upcoming future. Thanks for your support and your kind words.
Let me love you.
Let me obsess over you the way a blade obsesses over a throat
quiet, patient, inevitable.
Let me drape myself around you and breathe you in until your scent replaces the air in my lungs. Until I forget what breathing felt like before you.
Sometimes I think about peeling myself open just to see if you’re already inside me.
I want to crawl beneath your skin.
I want to lace myself through your bones so you could never move without me.
When I die, the insects that eat what’s left of me will taste you first.
They’ll carry you away in pieces and still be starving.
Let me sit beside you while you sleep.
I won’t touch you
not yet.
I’ll just watch.
Because the thought of looking away, even for a moment, makes something feral inside my chest start clawing.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Say it back.
Say it while I kiss you.
Say it while I kneel for you and give you everything I am without asking the price.
Just praise me.
Hold me tighter.
Tell me you need me the way I need you.
Tell me you couldn’t live without me.
Because I already know I couldn’t live without you.
I want to keep you all to myself.
Locked in our bed, tangled together until the world forgets we existed.
I want my teeth in your skin.
Marks that bloom dark and slow.
Bruises that fade.
Scars that don’t.
Proof.
God, you’d look beautiful with my mouth at your throat.
i want to feel your pulse under my fingers
just to remind you that you’re alive.
i want to sink my teeth into your throat
just to prove it.
and then you say it again.
worthless.
like the word belongs to you.
like you’re something meant to be thrown away.
how insulting.
not to you.
to me.
i chose you.
do you understand what that means?
out of everyone.
everything.
all the miserable pieces of this world..
i chose you.
and you stand there trying to convince me my taste is poor.
no.
watch how you speak about what’s mine.
if you insist on ruining yourself
i’d sooner do it myself.
at least then
you’d still belong to me.

He just wanted a quiet life. Instead, he got a knife-wielding girl calling him “brother,” a pack of enemies underestimating him, and one rabid dog of a man who bites everyone but him.
Yao Qi is a gentle, black-bellied Dom who’s done playing nice. When his fiercely loyal, dangerously unhinged sub is taken from him, he doesn’t just go looking. He claws his way to the top of the food chain to get him back.
Gentle? Yes. Patient? Occasionally. Possessive? Absolutely. This is the story of taming a rabid dog… and then unleashing him on the world.
This novel is basically, “What if the calm, polite shopkeeper was actually a strategic apex predator, and his boyfriend was a feral wolf who only rolls over for him?”
Yao Qi starts as the guy you think you can push around, until you realize he’s been quietly setting traps for you since chapter one. His “rabid dog,” Lin, is all teeth and territorial growls, but the second Yao Qi says “sit,” he’s the most obedient creature alive. The dynamic is strong × strong, but with that delicious imbalance where one is the leash-holder and the other is the weapon.
The romance? Equal parts knife-to-throat tension and domestic softness. They’ll be plotting someone’s downfall in one scene and sharing quiet, grounding moments in the next. And yes, there’s heat, though it's not gratuitous, but enough to make you sit up straighter when it happens.
The plot throws in gang politics, betrayal, and “oh no you didn’t” moments that make you want to fist-pump when the payback lands. It’s not all sunshine, and there are knives (literal and emotional), but the ride-or-die devotion is so strong you’ll forgive every scar they leave on each other and everyone else.
Final vibe: If you like your BL with possessive loyalty, strategic revenge, and the kind of couple that could headline a crime syndicate and a romance drama, this is your next binge.
ARC Review: Feral Devotion by Melissa Renae 🩸🐺
(Note: This review was originally posted on Goodreads on 5/3/26 and is being cross-posted here with minor edits.)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I’ll admit, the sheer size of Feral Devotion was a bit intimidating at first, but the gorgeous cover art kept calling to me—and I am so glad I listened. From page one, the writing style just clicked. I actually found myself getting anxious checking the page count because the characters were so vivid and the story was so gripping that I didn't want it to end!
This isn't just another shifter story; it’s a raw, heavy journey that tackles suicide awareness and deep-seated trauma with incredible heart.
⚠️ Note: I highly recommend reading the author’s touching foreword and checking the trigger warnings, as the FMC's struggle with self-sabotage and her past feels painfully real. Seeing her navigate that while finding a "Hive" that actually sees her was moving and deeply emotional.
The World & The Cast
The world-building—a fresh blend of vampires and shifters—is brought to life by an expansive cast of characters who each possess a distinct, memorable personality. A few highlights for me included:
Rafe: The "gentle giant" who absolutely had me in a chokehold (I honestly needed even more of him!).
Harlow’s Fox: The most protective, cuddly highlight of the book.
Nik: Giving off major Nanami from JJK vibes—that specific brand of self-punishing, competent "asshole" energy.
Tropes, Twists, & My Thoughts
The inclusion of modern text message inserts made the dialogue feel incredibly current, and the narrative kept me on my toes with several massive twists. The revelation regarding Dr. Bloom and the final member of the hive was a total "wow" moment.
Between the "who hurt you" tropes and a climactic fight scene that had my heart literally pounding out of my chest, this book was a total emotional rollercoaster.
I’m sad it’s over, but so satisfied with how it wrapped up. Feral Devotion is an imaginative, high-stakes ride, and I’m already dying to see what happens in book two!
