On a much less protracted note... Fereydoon, like all the veruni sentinels in Wild Arms 5(Volsung, Persephone, Kartikeya, & Elvis) is another mythological reference, if only in name. Weirdly there seems to be some precedent for the Japanese mis-romanizing(?)* this as "Fariedone" as SMT seems to have done it as well. But in any case, the English went with "Fereydoon" even though the generally agreed upon romanization of the original Persian name is Fereydun[فریدون].
*hard to say if there even is a "wrong" way to do that when the source word isn't written in roman script to begin with...
In any case, Fereydun is a mythic king of Persian/Iranian legend most notable for having slain the Zahhak, a long standing villain of persian mythos. Zahhak is in some instances referred to as a literal dragon/serpent, and other times given the epithet nonliterally, in turn counting Fereydun among the ranks of the hero archetype of dragon slayer, not unlike Seigfried.
