For the past 400 years we have seen people of color discriminated against to the highest degree. Years and years of oppression formulated by a system of racism and bigotry has made its mark on the societies of the world, particularly the stolen land called America.
When the system of slavery started becoming the social norm, the idealistic culture for blacks was one of servitude. The European Americans who crafted this system of stupidity usually had someone to watch over their slaves if they had a huge plantation. This slave watcher was usually called the overseer. This form of regulation and control did not end when slavery did. As a matter of fact, one can truly point to areas where it got worse.
The police have become the new overseers. They check, arrest and kill more black men in today’s society than ever before. Their main purpose, or so we are told, is to serve and protect. As we can all see, this has not been the case for years, and maybe even ever.
The United States of America has become somewhat of a hunting ground for trigger happy idiots to take their pick on the next black male they see. This has been even more evident in the past few years where black men have been killed in record amounts by cops. According to an Aug. 15 USA Today article, from 2005-2012 two black men were killed every week by a police officer. That number comes as no surprise, but what comes next is a bit of an eyebrow raiser.
The numbers reported were not complete. The article goes on to say that killings are self-reported by the police and not all of these law enforcement agencies participate so the database undercounts the actual number of deaths. Plus, the numbers are not audited after they are submitted to the FBI and the statistics on "justifiable" homicides have conflicted with independent measures of murders at the hands of police.
It is a sad time to be black in America. The shocking factor that plays into all of this is that almost a quarter of the police murders resulted in the death of a black male under the age of 21. Black men have been under the siege of European Americans for quite some time now, and it seems that the oppression continues to slither its way in the belly of this country. This time it’s just blatant disregard for human lives.
There can never really be justice on stolen land, so the land of greed and prejudice remains the way it is. The United States of Amerikkka, home of the slaves.
