Fethry and Gyro Gearloose vs. the American reproductive health industry

I'm currently on a smidge of a sabbatical from fic writing, but I still have more ideas for my Ducktales future AU — particularly regarding Roxanne Gearloose, Fethry and Gyro's daughter. I think I've mentioned her being grown in a petri dish before, or have at least mentioned her being a genetically modified science baby? I'm really not sure how specific I've been in the past.

So, let's get real specific!

After Gyro and Fethry got married, the couple began to explore having children together. They initially wanted to adopt a child, but they got rejected because when the agencies would search up Gyro Gearloose and then would see him on the news for his crazy "evil" inventions. Fethry also didn't particularly have enough of an established income at the time since he was still working on finishing his Bachelor's degree. Thus, Fethry and Gyro started looking into IVF and surrogacy.

At the recommendation of their family friends (the Drakes), Fethry and Gyro were referred to an obstetrician, who then referred them to an IVF specialist. They were initially really excited to try surrogacy. The idea was that Gyro's embryotic eggs would be extracted, which would then be implemented with Fethry's DNA. They would then find a surrogate to carry the result. However, because of Gyro's advancing age (he's like mid 30s at this point), they couldn't retrieve enough high quality eggs to pull anything off.

So, Gyro decided to make his own eggs and DIY an artificial womb instead! Using the greatest technology in the Duckberg metropolitan area, Gyro built an incubator that held a synthesized Duck embryo. With Fethry's consent, he combined the sperm and the egg, and then made the egg that Roxanne hatched out of in the Money Bin's lab. It was quite novel to be able to watch your child grow inside of an artificial womb chamber. Through the months that the egg developed in the chamber, Gyro would spend late nights watching the chamber. Fethry would spend his spare time making sure that homeostasis in the chamber was always kept and maintained.

Even their friends wanted to see what was cooking up in the chamber! Boyd and Doofus found the whole process freaky, but interesting — with Doofus actually taking the idea of an artificial chamber that grew eggs and using it for an assignment for his 9th grade English class. Dewey took all kinds of freaky pictures of the developing fetus, and would post them on his Picsnapgram for all his friends to see. Once the egg was done cooking in the chamber, the adult friends of the Gearloose family actually held a small get-together at Chili's (with lots of cocktails), and then they all went to the Drake residence (Fethry's a teetotaler) to play lots of Bingo in their banquet room.

Roxanne Penelope Piper Gearloose hatched perfectly normal and healthy. She was put under some observation because she was grown inside of an artificial chamber, but she turned out developmentally safe and sound. Gyro and Fethry never again had to deal with the bothersome reproductive healthcare industry, and the family lived happily ever after.
