I love after their mystic powers gone, and Mikey tries to use it DESPITE knowing it's gone. Like he just hopes it returns and he can do something. They’ve had those powers for 2 years, so it's a little hard to adjust suddenly not having it. Mikey doesn't give up so easily, and I love that about him.
Donnie, my sweet summer child, I feel like it was a little hint? That he has to overcome this fear of him without the battle shell. The first scene when his first battle shell breaks, and immediately a worried Mikey tries to find shelter, Donnie's in panic mode too. I don't think he's ever fought for a while without his battle shell, and the Krang is so overpowering, he knows he's done for.
BUT, in the second scene with the Krang ship, he already knows that he can't finish the process without taking off his shell. And I'm assuming he had his prosthetic (YES TECHNICALLY A PROSTHETIC SHELL) for years, so he feels so vulnerable without it and Mikey mentions that without him needing to. So him willingly having Mikey take it off is, chefs kiss. I don't think he ever took off his shell unless it was to change it, sleep, or use it literally in battle (like the episode Mascot Melee to fight w one of the mascots). I wish they’ve done something about that though, like so many hints and at the end Donnie still relies on the battle shell. Which I don’t blame, because it adds extra protection.
I also love when everyone gave up on Leo at the end, thinking there's no use and Mikey finally making a portal like he's tried the whole movie. I feel like Mikey's a huge part of the team by keeping them together, like despite them feeling defeated that Leo may be gone and Mike's like hahaha no and pulls out this portal with all his strength;
That one moment when Donnie uses his bo to block the Krang and gets knocked unconscious, gives me very The Incredibles vibe when Violet tries to use her force field and she falls unconscious too. Idk why that scene reminded me of that? Maybe cause she used it to save Dash and Donnie did it to try and save Mikey. Which Donnie repeatedly thrown himself into harms way to save Mikey.
I also loved Rottmnt because Donnie wasn't the "weakest link" like all the incarnations, I wish they kept that up in the movie instead of needing to be saved at times. They kept mentioning him being a softshell, but I think he can hold himself off very well.
