Okay hot take but I think tcm 2 is good BUT as it's own separate thing from tcm1 because I feel like the complex character of bubba (being fluid in his gender, personality changing because of the mask, being terrified of his siblings) kind of gets thrown away in the comedy of tcm2. Tcm2 is a FANTASTIC movie but in my mind it's better to think of bubba in tcm1 and bubba in tcm2 as two separate people

Someday I hope people will realize Scream and Scary Movie are two different things.

The generational damage Scary Movie has done to the franchise is crazy.

Also with the new movie coming out, as if the first 1 - 5 weren't funny nor clever writing just fart and rape jokes, the only thing they can come up with now is blue hair gay trans laugh.

No clever punchlines, no crafted jokes, just "let's offend the snow flake lefts". Most Conservatives are afraid to be in the same room as a person of color. Not offended just really exhausted with bot level writing.

Unpopular opinion:

Horror movies that relay on gore are lowkey pretty lame.

There’s nothing scary about gore. It’s just gross.

If you’re watching a slasher or body horror that makes a little more sense to have blood and gore, but horror movies nowadays are always gory and I have a lot of friends who don’t like gore and don’t wanna see it.

And of course you got the horror bros defending it like “omg horror means gory and bloody!”

Like no.

Horror is so much more than just blood and gore.

If someone doesn’t like to see gore, that doesn’t make them less of a horror movie fan.

People just don’t wanna see it and they are valid.

That is all.

Horror movies these days are so blan. They're always Mental Illness or Supernatural Being and its always some mom who is seeing ghosts while her son (occasionally its a daughter) is running around and it almost always ends with her almost killing the kid. Bonus if she already "accidentally" killed a baby because of mental illness and thats why no one believes her about the ghosts. Horror in general is kinda in the shitter lately .

I dont always want a queer film where all the marketing is about how queer and liberal it is- I want a messy, disgusting heavily implied queer relationship, I want unrequited love, I want something that feels real. something that platforms the queer experience of being disgusting to the public.

YES positive queer horror can be great (Tara and dennise in TWD were amazing for example) but I feel like we are starting to lose the uniquely powerful effects of queer horror before 2010.

I'd Like to argue this happened because people started getting more accepting of queer identities around this era; there was less need for commentary. however this would quickly regress in the past couple years and, because of this, I would really love to start seeing this genre of art again.

Was thinking about it and it's honestly a bit disgusting how often horror media like, makes you fear the comeuppance of victims and not the actual abusers and murderers who hurt them?

Like, think about it. Every single horror I can think of off-hand has the victims trying to go wild and kill everyone or we have to stop them before they can get loose or they trick us into letting them out-- but they're typically victims of horrible experiments and shit? This feels like a horror fantasy built on the fear of comeuppance from someone who has been hurt, which has always disgusted me but the more I get into horror and the more I find it, the more irritating it is.

You can say 'oh well it's just about the victims who lose all sense of reason and attack everyone around them, not ALL victims' all you want but it's still sending kind of a despicable message when all your horror monsters are... children. Or women murdered by their husbands. Or someone who was grown in a lab and abused and experimented upon and has no sense of reality or meaning in their life because of it. Like... if we were being attacked by the people who made them that way, why would that be less terrifying? Can you imagine a little girl voice whispering from the darkness 'run, he's coming' and a totally boring looking average man walks in and that little girl voice screams and the shadow-creature runs away like he's TERRIFYING her-- and you just have to stand there and listen to him talk about how SHE needs to be stopped because she's dangerous... And that doesn't horrify you???

I’m watching Night Swim and as a chronic watcher of horror, at what point is hollywood going to understand that having the spectre (or in this case - a haunted swimming pool) kill a cat or dog IS NOT THE KEY TO SUSPENSE.

It happens in every other bloody movie, some poor cat or dog gets fucked over by the ghost and it’s meant to be “oooo ooga booga the bad thing got the kitty cat” but its so damn LAZY AND LAME and it pisses me off.

I know this is an age old arguement and why the site “does the dog die.com” exists but my god can we STOP killing off fictional animals for shitty cheap “scares” that serves as nothing other than a plot point to piss me the fuck off
