Féves

Féves are small porcelain figurines released as part of the French Epiphany holiday. Traditionally, these figurines are of the Nativity but, since the 1980s, many of them have been pop cultural. The Avatar féves appear to have been released in 2010 and 2011.

If Furbys Were The Borrowers...

I'm very excited to share with you all my newest Furby acquisition! 🤗

I love everything Furby but have a particular penchant for the more unusual Furby paraphernalia. I love the rarer goodies that rise above the usual sea of furby robots. Also being a determined Furby ferret I will not stop til I've tracked down a seemingly impossible to find Furby relic!

So I came across a picture on Pinterest and could just make out these tiny little Furby figures in the background. My curiosity was immediately piqued:

"What are these little furby treasures which I have yet to find on eBay or any collector sites that list every Furby artefact known to man?". There was no trace!

LET THE HUNT BEGIN!

When I get a bee in my bonnet about something like this I will not give in, it's the thrill of the chase and the promise of cute furby treasure at the end!

After hours of trawling through google and typing every possible variation of "china furby figurine" into eBay, I tracked down this complete set of Furby "fèves".

SO TECHNICAL NAME = FÈVES

Fèves is the French translation for "Fava Bean" and also the name of small trinkets hidden inside a Galette de Rois or King Cake. These cakes are associated with 3 Kings Day or Mardi Gras and the person who finds the fève is usually awarded special privileges or gifts for the day! As if finding a tiny furby inside a cake wasn't enough of a treat!

French and history lesson over! Who said that Furbys aren't educational? I've learnt so much from my Furby ferreting.

So now I'm the proud owner of this complete set of 10 porcelain mini furby fèves in immaculate condition! What joy!

I've placed one figure next to a penny to show you how tiny they actually are. Hence why I've called them The Furborrowers!

The thought of tiny little Furbs wandering around my house at night fills me with such childlike excitement! They should do an all furby cast remake of The Borrowers film and I'd gladly direct!
