jeju island was surprisingly loaded with scarce and rare plants that were scattered all throughout. the travel from the city to the island was simple enough. the witch could use a break from his tiny apartment. it seemed like the perfect opportunity to camp out and grab everything at once.
some ingredients, however, were a little difficult to retrieve. it wasn’t necessarily the location, but more of how fast it would kill them if they mishandled anything. contact with the surface of skin could spell instant death for one of them. kwangshik did feel guilty for asking for help. after all, aera wasn’t his familiar and this wasn’t the easiest of tasks. he appreciated the familiar’s grace in assisting him greatly. at this point, having one didn’t seem possible. would they really grant him one if he was the reason another one died?
kwangshik pulled his giant coat tighter around himself to aid in fighting the cold air. with the forest being close to water, the temperatures dropped even lower. thank god for the occasional fire conjuring or they’d nearly freeze to death. the overnight stay was bound to be a struggle. with a wave of his hand, wadded paper flies out of his pocket and into his chilly hands.
“thanks, aera” the witch mumbles, thumbing through the list of plants and herbs they planned on collecting that day, “for doing this with me. you really weren’t obligated, after all.” he kneels down in front of a purple-colored plant identified as wolfsbane, craning his neck to check the condition of it. once in a while, kwangshik had visitors that requested ‘werewolf repellent. if anything, a weapon. from past experiences, the witch didnt hesitate to cook such a thing up.
“i’m practically out on these.” snapping on rubber gloves for protection, the witch carefully works around the plant. “what about you? what do you need exactly again?”
