the fact of the matter is, doug ford deliberately loosened Medical Assistance In Dying requirements so basically anyone with a permanent disability qualifies for it now. He then proceeded to ignore the disabled community for months during a pandemic when we're dying in the streets, and even made comments about "getting them jobs". Now a huge swath of disabled people, including many of my friends, are signing up for MAID. We simply can't afford to live anymore. And nobody can figure out why?

is it possible to have an opinion on vriska that ISNT controversial. god. idk much about what the current discourse is because i dont care for her enough to involve myself in that argument

i guess ive seen more than one person claim vriska is the way she is because of an ‘abusive lusus’ which i think is a completely stupid interpretation. a lusus is just a stupid monster that protects you in exchange for you protecting it and i think the comic makes this pretty clear... obviously vriska needing to be a murderer in order to feed a giant spider that lives under her house wasn’t a GREAT influence on her growing up but none of that is the spider’s fault. it is a spider. it needs to eat. how about blame the society that put kids in the care of giant mindless bugs? come on now

i also think it’s a totally absurd takeaway from the situation given the context of other family relationships depicted in homestuck. yes, it is true that vriska does not like her spider mother and seems internally relieved when it’s time for her to die, but compare this to the other tense familial relationships in the comic: john and rose both assume their parents have ill intentions largely because they’re projecting other problems onto the relationship. i think that’s also the case between vriska and the spider, and i think even she is on some level aware of that. it’s the society she grew up in that she has a problem with, not the monster that raised her

I haven’t finished the season yet, but I’d say it’s a mix of that and “Wait, you saw me getting treated like shit for years but you saw some other strangers you'd known for an hour get treated badly and now you've grasped that we're the baddies? Good to know you care so much about me" compounding the jealousy angle

My ODSP case worker informed me I'll be receiving a 100$ emergency benefit as of this coming Friday. She also said that most ODSP recipients will get this if they request it, but didn't specify beyond that. Might be worth knowing if your case workers aren't on the ball about things.
