I have this hc in which Waffle after leaving her teacher, starts following Whiskey around after discovering he's an alchemnist, and since her goal is to restore everyithing into it's purest form, she's super interested in alchemy. Anyways, she starts following him around and helping him, and whiskey just tries to pry her off him by poisoning her food or her in general. But Waffle ends inmunne to his poison and that both amazes him and terrifies him. Finally, he ends up adopting the kid.

This. This is the only way I can ever see whiskey adopting a kid. The kid is REQUIRED to completely baffle and lowkey concern him in order to gain any kind of affection.

Plus, this lil blue eyed UwU baby following this old and decrepit snake man around is a very charming image to think up.
