So I have a FF7 Lore Thing I'm going to write.

Basically I want to share all the magic system, Planetary cycle, Gods/WEAPONs/Mortals etc that I've developed based off of the FF7 Compilation and trying to make it make sense. I have...uh. A LOT of information amassed through observing how things work in Compilation media / playing the games; reading and writing fanfic; many, many roleplay opportunities; talking to other creatives who know the fandom well... the list, it goes on.

I have one request for you guys, especially you guys who are a fan of my work specifically. And that is to reply/comment on this post with topics, OR reblog it for visibility with your thoughts.

This will be posted initially on Tumblr, but probably be turned into a meta fic on Ao3 because meta is a fanwork.

This has been a really long time in coming, and it will be a very long, very thorough exploration. I will be sure to clarify what bits come from where in canon, in combination with things that have been inspired by canon, and things that make sense but are not actually rooted in canon, if anyone is concerned.

I'll probably be looking at a lot of scholars and specialists through the lens of canon and parallel to my creative endeavors. Here's what I have so far -- under the cut because it's already long. Most of this won't be a surprise to people who've been reading my stuff.

Sometimes I think about Vincent finding and helping Annette, and listening to her story about how she was working for Shinra to try to maintain/undo the fallout of Project S for the sake of her son.

What must that have been like for him?

Annette didn't look anything like Lucrecia, of course, and Annette's job was just to keep watch over (and then track down) the victims, not to make anything. And Evan certainly wasn't a toddler locked away in a lab somewhere. But the parallels are pretty strong.

I'd really like more than the meager two sentences we got about that incident.

Did Cloud create a reality out of grief? | Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Theory

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Cosmo Canyon suggests the Lifestream may not separate memory from dreams. If the Lifestream responds not just to memory, but to desire, trauma, hope, and refusal. Then Cloud is not simply losing his grip on reality, but unconsciously authoring a version of it?

That would mean the real fracture is not necessarily time itself. It could be will. A wanted reality where failure is deferred, loss is resisted, and the moment does not end where it was supposed to.

What If Sephiroth’s Promised Land Is Just a Better Prison? | FF7 Rebirth Theory

This is where FF7 Remake / Rebirth makes Sephiroth much more interesting than a standard apocalypse villain.

Because if the Planet was already enforcing fate, dictating events, and trapping both lives and souls in a suffering-producing system… then Sephiroth’s promised land may not be a rejection of control.
