My favorite flavor of man:
Feminine-looking bitch
I appreciate just how much of a weird little freak Ardyn is as a main villain. I think it's bc FFXV's main story is shorter than any other final fantasy I've played (only about 20 hours in my experience) but straight up for most of the main game he's weirdly helpful. He shows up to say weird cryptic stuff and be strangely helpful despite being an enemy leader and then just. Leaves. He has to bide his time anyways, why not fuck around? But it takes so long for him to show his true colors so he spends most of his on screen time being. Strange and off-putting and I love how much of a weird little freak he is.
Like, in og ff7 Sephiroth is a constantly present threat but... He is explicitly working against the party. Constantly. With this air of detachment outside of fucking with Cloud.
In FF9 Kuja is *also* a weird little freak but in a different way and he's just. SUCH a bastard. I've never had a villain send me on a fetch quest before.
But Ardyn? MF is oh so *helpful* up until altissia and even then he's just being strange and off-putting all the way up to the end of Zegnautus Keep
One of my favourite bits of Final Fantasy IX is when Kuja sees the moogle become more powerful after she transitions and realises that he needs to do the same.
Kuja my beloved that I need to draw more.
