The Tax Rap - FINALISTS

What up dudes and not so dudes.

Guess what? You voted. The internet came together and we made the finals in the Tax Rap competition. It was pretty easy to spot the finalists, no real surprises on who else will be selected. I'm hoping we'll win, but I'm thinking I can't have that lucky of a week. And the competition is still.

And thanks for coming out to the show at the Abbey Pub on Tuesday. There were a bunch of you that came specifically to see us which was really freaking cool. I hope people really enjoyed the set and enjoyed seeing fucking MC Frontalot (who I'd never seen before), Optimus Rhyme, and the always awesome MC Lars. I'll post pics soon on the MySpace and I just want to let you know we're working on tons of new shit and its coming.

No more shows for awhile, they're gonna show some stem cells in me on the 18th and then I can't walk for like....my life.

Also, get ready for So You Think You Can Dance Season 3. Just do. I think I can say that I went to the audition in Chicago and Atlanta and they were fun to stand in line with all the cool people and well, just had a blast hanging out with my girlfriend who was trying out. I also wanted to potentially dance some nerdcore hip-hop and REPRESENT for my main man NIGEL LYTHGOE! WHOOOP WHOOOP!

Stem Cells Saving My Knee

I've been talking about it for awhile and we've been turning down shows for about 6 months because we kept thinking I'd be having surgery at any moment.

Basically, a chunk of cartilage died in my knee and then fell out last summer. The chunk jammed in the joint and caused me to be completely unable to bend or straighten my leg. I had surgery in the fall to remove that chunk. Hooray I could walk. Still, there was a chunk of cartilage missing which meant that in 5-10 years my knee would completely break down and I would need a replacement knee. That option sucked because who needs a replacement knee at 30. So they took a sample of my cartilage and mixed it with some stem cells in a lab. This mix started to grow new cartilage cells (your body can't do this...what you're born with is what you get).

Anyway, so in surgery they took a thin slice of bone from my shin and covered the hole in my knee and then injected the stem cells/cartilage cells behind that and now they just have to grow and attach to the rest of the surrounding cartilage. Thus, I love stem cells (if this works).

So yeah...that's what's up with me. I am on oxy-cotin so please forgive this if its a big old drunken mess to read.

The Nicest Note / Review We Ever Received

My mom asked me who I paid to write this or what in the world would make me write my own fan mail because she didn't believe anyone could actually enjoy the music this much or write me such a nice letter.

In all seriousness though when I saw it come in with the subject line on MySpace of "I found you guys in a dumpster" I figured it was hate mail from some metal group or some "real" hip hop act. We tend to get those and then get into a fun flame war over the MySpace by shooting our mouths off. But this one was the opposite and it really made me smile, so check it out.

Dear Former Fat Boys:

I used to live in an apartment on the corner of Belmont and Clark (in Chicago). This was maybe January or February of 2006. Ok..so don't get me wrong, I am no dumpster diver - but on my way out the back door into the alley I noticed a huge box sitting on top of the dumpster that appeared to contain CD's. Curious, of course I grabbed it!

I tediously hauled the box up the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment (no elevator). There ended up being some 100-150 CD's in the box...and some video game magazines, the latter of which I tossed right away. My boyfriend and I had a great time going through and listening to all of the CD's over the next several months...and it did take months.

Most of the CD's were trash. I'm no music snob - in fact, I'm a musician myself and can appreciate any genre of music as long as it's good for what it is. You know what I mean?

Well anyway, in the box of 150 CD's or so, there were only 2 that really stuck out as being keepers. There's some kid named Eric J that put out some CD called "New Heights" that we simply had to keep. Here's an example of why...one of his song lyrics is, "I'm a sexy white pretty-boy baseball jock." OK - so how could I help but jam out and crack up to a song with lyrics like this?

Former Fat Boys - Rocky Loves Emily was the only other CD that became I-Pod worthy for my boyfriend and I. Part of the reason I love your stuff is that it kind of takes me back to the good ol' days when hip-hop artists had a sense of humour. Honestly, life is too short...so if you can make music and not take yourself too seriously, then in my book you've reached your Zen.

Thank you for hours of musical enjoyment. It seems that every time I listen to your CD I pick up on another lyric that I didn't notice before that utterly cracks me up. Sometimes when I'm cranky my boyfriend will start singing some of your songs to me to make me laugh..and I can't help myself. (Hopefully you guys are trying to be funny, otherwise I'm probably really insulting you).

In any case, while I found your CD and didn't buy it, you can definitely count on my boyfriend and I to come out to your next show. We live a few blocks from Wrigley and were EXTREMELY disappointed that we couldn't make your show. Please play again soon.

Snakes on a Plane, shows with mc chris

Ok, its time to bring the actual site back. Not because the SNAKES ON A PLANE contest is over, (IT ISN'T PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND KEEP VOTING), but because we have other news that needs to be conveyed and simply can't be held back. So then, show announcements. It took awhile to get it confirmed and I've had to keep tight lipped about it, but the Former Fat Boys will be in De Kalb, IL at THE HOUSE on May 27th with Melonboat and MC CHRIS from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim's Sea Lab and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Yes, the rapping spider guy. MC PEE PANTS.

Ok here it is, we still need your vote. The contest runs until May 30th. There's over 400 entires in the damn thing and we're in the Top 5 right now. Yes, the top 25 songs go to the finals where the winner is chosen by New Line executives, but we'd like to go in in first place. So if you can, vote. Bloodhound Gang and Former Fat Boys?
