anyways, i've had this idea for a horror/infection au for a while now that focuses on some of the characters i think are incredibly underutilized, or never used, in these aus.
this is just a concept and i barely have anything written, but if this post gets some good traction i'll see about working on it! been meaning to do something with tiktok for a while now and this might help me get a good start.

below is a summary of the start that i've thought up so far and my idea of how to execute this project.

Flim and Flam take a trip to the Crystal Empire after running out of areas to scam, trying to come up with enough funds to save their casino ever since the Friendship University scam destroyed their reputation and funds.
After arriving, they found out how difficult it is to fool the crystal ponies with simple tricks. They supposed that after Sombra and Chrysalis they'd learned to be vigilant of sketchy ponies and illusions.
Flim was about to give up but Flam knew that there had to be a way to dazzle the bits out of their wallets. The tourists that came were rich ponies so perhaps they were looking for something that'd dazzle like the empire itself.
There were rumors all across Equestria of how the crystals that grow in the empire held powerful magic, the type that only the best magic wielders could utilize. So when a mysterious but powerful looking unicorn approached Flam with a gorgeous crystal in hoof, how could he say no?
The scam was easy. Beam some light through the crystal, let the cut of the gem make it look like he put on a firework show with a foal's worth of magic, market it as a magic enhancing relic, and call it The Cadenza Crystal. Tourists and citizens alike would eat it up and the brothers would be sleeping in bits in no time. Best of all, the mysterious pony only wanted a small favor in return.
There was no way this could backfire!

the plan for how i would execute this project is making a whole pilot episode-esque animatic using the finished start above. from there, the rest would be through comic pages for minor story beats and animatics for more important moments. if the project is a success and the series runs for a while, there would be recap posts on certain characters based off of the status posts in the usual infection aus you'd see on tiktok. these slides wouldn't contain stats but simply give us a recap on the cast and what had happened to them last, to help keep those invested updated and to keep a steady flow of content in the case of a new post being delayed or behind schedule.
another thing i would love to do is get voice acting on this! i'd only seen one infection au have "voice acting" before but in the form of ai; which makes zero sense to me since this fandom is full of wonderfully talented people, new and old, who always show willingness to work on any fan project.

My AU/theory/headcanon where Foxy and Captain Foxy are twins (identical twins! :3)
Bonus doodle because Old Foxy was weird and current Foxy was kinda misogynistic in the beginning before turning around (we love character development), and Captain Foxy is weird and misogynistic and has hit on his son’s fiancé before
Foxy is using Older Sibling Authority (i think Foxy was the oldest of them and also the cool one, but now he’s just Some Guy so the cool title is forked over to Captain Foxy, who isn’t actually all that cool either if you think about it.. maybe he was a long time ago, but not now)
The brothers trot into the empire, both looking around in awe still.
Flim: "Now our shows can be flashy, but this is downright dazzing!"
Flam: "Well why else do you think they call it the crystal empire?"
Flam was hushed with a hoof to his face.
Flim: "Dazzle aside, we have a stand to set up! We've gotta get these awestruck tourists while they're still distracted."
The brothers toss out a suitcase that unfolds into a simple sales booth like a pop-up book.
A banner across the top unfurls, reading "Crystal Pony Glamour!"
(Singing)
Flim: "You there ma'am, with that humble little mane, adorned with cheap faux gems."
Flam: "You traveled all this way, but when you stand among this dazzlement, you feel as if you're from a den."
Flim: "When you're among such splendor-"
Flam: "Such glamour!"
Flim: "I can't blame you for trying to compensate."
Both: "So let us introduce to you the most recent inventions from this lovely empire state~!"
Flim: "Here we have a simple mane spray, water melted from the glittering snow. Fresh crystals locally sourced and crushed into a powder that'll really make you glow!"
Flam: "Next we have a simple makeup, dear, to help bring out your natural shine! You'll look like you simply belong here and you'll feel absolutely divine!"
Flim: "For our fellow gentleman, don't your worry, for we have just what you need. A crystal lined bowtie and a nice coat polish to make the gorgeous mares scream!"
Flam: "For our youngest and oldest customers, listen closely cause this is just for you. These crystal streets can be quite the slippery surface, so we offer you crystal cut horseshoes!"
Flim: "Feel like a princess!"
Flam: "Feel like a prince!"
Both: "Get the whole set for 102 bits!"
Is it a bit crazy to be willing to write a musical segment for your mlp horror/infection au? Maybe. But Flim and Flam are know for their banger songs.
I still find myself humming the Super Cider Squeezy 6000 song all these years later.
This is a first draft so its subject to change, but lemme know what y'all think!
