Right, so I’ve had some time putting some serious thought into my hobbies and long-term goals, and I’ve come to a conclusion that might disappoint some and interest others. (at least I hope it will interest at least... one or two people.)

FFIX Gaiden is back on hiatus, this time for an indefinite amount of time.

It wasn’t easy making this decision, but as of late even so much as working on it has been taking a lot out of me and taking up time I’d rather be spending on my more original projects. Time is money, after all, and fancomics such as that won’t be earning me a cent.

That’s not to say the other projects I’d rather be doing will earn me anything, either. But at the very least they won’t be causing me quite as much stress. I’m going to have to sit down some day soon and completely revamp some previous pages of The Third Arbiter so that I can resume working on it without feeling that nails-on-chalkboard sensation I’ve been having. My ultimate goal is to actually finish the damn thing (It was supposed to be just a single hundred-ish page story, it’s a sin that I’ve been taking this long on it) and move on to other original projects.

On the side, however, I will-- actually, I have been working on something else, and while it too is a fancomic of sorts, it’s making me happy/keeping me feeling sane at the moment...which is something I really, seriously need. I won’t announce what it is right away-- I want to finish the thumbnails first, then complete the entirety of the first chapter before I reveal anything. But surprisingly enough, I’m already pretty far along in that goal (knocks on wood).

Apologies to those that have been following me for FFIX Gaiden. Hopefully in the future I’ll be feeling well enough about it to come back to it.

I might put a temporary post up on the webcomic come Monday just to tell everyone not following me via social media what the hold-up is.

Won’t be this monday unfortunately, but hopefully by next monday I’ll have myself straightened out and we’ll be back to the same old weekly schedule. So ffixgaiden is definitely gonna have delays over the next couple days. It’s been a busy week for me. On top of doctor and hair appointments, I also did the following:

- finally got my first SNES console ever as shown left-- along with Paladin’s Quest/Lennus. Proof that this is not one of those shitty newfangled “SNES Classic/Mini/whatever the fuck they call it” machines. I don’t care if I have like 10 emulators that I can resort to at any given moment of the day, there’s seriously nothing better than the real thing.

- bit the bullet and overwrote Windows 10 with Linux Mint. Over the past few days I have been getting myself acclimated to the new operating system, and I must say, I have NEVER been happier with a machine in my life. I don’t regret switching to linux at all. The cintiq works fine out of the box, though I did have to spend some time mapping the buttons via command line. Either way, all that work I had to do to get myself settled in set me back on the comic by a week lol

so yeah that’s where I’ve been this whole time. See you next week!

anyway I feel compelled to say something since I’ve been absent for a while after my little-- implosion or whatever.

My hands have been giving me more trouble recently (now it’s my right hand, which is very concerning) but I managed to have a talk with my primary about that and my headaches, and she’s referred me to a neurologist who I’ll be seeing on the 29th. After that I’ll be up in Quebec for a family vacation starting August 31st and returning Sept 8th. My ultimate decision is to return from the FFIXGaiden hiatus on September 16th, the week after said vacation. This should give me more than enough time to practice a little self care. (Huh... is it just me or was my last big hiatus around this month as well...?)

I want to thank everyone that sent all that positive reinforcement my way the other day-- You really didn’t have to, but it’s much appreciated. It really did help. I also wanna mention because I didn’t have much of a chance before:

Final Fantasy Forums, which I happen to be a proud member of, recently published an issue of their ongoing FF fanzine, Timber Maniacs, and my work is included in the featured content! Check it out here: FFF’s Timber Maniacs vol.3

The whole thing is a fun read.

In short, I’m not planning on giving up on FFIXGaiden and if things go as planned I’ll be returning to that around September 17th. Until then, I’m going to be working on a couple side-projects, one of which I’ll have to keep ssssemi-quiet until the time is right... ┬┴┬┴┤( ͡° ͜ʖ├┬┴┬┴
