Mercenary Spotlight: Circe
Circe is an optional mercenary in Hymn to the Earless God. She's part of a small band of mercenaries who work out of a cabin deep in the Forest of Tyrants, next to the rotting log of the World Tree and the Verrick swarming inside of it.
As an Enoru, she once worshipped the World Tree and lived in nearby Sherlua, till it was ravaged by the Verrick Horde. When she's not earning a few extra teeth by working as a mercenary, she waits in the forest with the rest of her crew, eyeing the Verrick who are foolish enough to travel alone.
However, at her core, she believes that we can all coexist in harmony with nature. She's willing to give anyone a chance. But, how will she react when confronted with the lowliest Verrick of all: Pox the Vile?
As a mercenary, Circe is a mixed physical and magic fighter. Her vine whip can hit enemy rows, and her Magic of the Trees is formidable. Thanks to her Spell Slinger adaptation, she can cast magic more quickly than most characters, so if an enemy is looking at a tasty-looking corpse, she can detonate it with her Explosive Fungus spell before they get a taste.
Circe is part of a huge cast of mercenaries from Hymn to the Earless God. Want to check out more about this game? We're currently having a Kickstarter:

A JRPG with a striking aesthetic
MeanMa is a female Lafury mercenary that can be recruited on Lagol town. She joins for free because she's lonely. And once you let her in she refuses to leave until she is defeated in battle. at which point she nopes right the flup out of there and leaves you hanging. Not something you want happening in a dungeon or far from a town if you are running low on supplies or ran out of teleport items. Also, stay away from Destry. As soon as you enter a town he steals gold from you and takes off.
When you're in class and the genocidal dictator from the southern continent tries to get you to climb the Tower of Gabnid and unleash Dal Gren's monster
So ffixgaiden is definitely gonna have delays over the next couple days. It’s been a busy week for me. On top of doctor and hair appointments, I also did the following:
- finally got my first SNES console ever as shown left-- along with Paladin’s Quest/Lennus. Proof that this is not one of those shitty newfangled “SNES Classic/Mini/whatever the fuck they call it” machines. I don’t care if I have like 10 emulators that I can resort to at any given moment of the day, there’s seriously nothing better than the real thing.
- bit the bullet and overwrote Windows 10 with Linux Mint. Over the past few days I have been getting myself acclimated to the new operating system, and I must say, I have NEVER been happier with a machine in my life. I don’t regret switching to linux at all. The cintiq works fine out of the box, though I did have to spend some time mapping the buttons via command line. Either way, all that work I had to do to get myself settled in set me back on the comic by a week lol
so yeah that’s where I’ve been this whole time. See you next week!
