There was a man with bright blond hair and strange blue-purple eyes kneeling in front of the corner the young girl had wedged herself in.
The man had a concerned expression and reached out slowly. The girl pushed herself further against the corner and the man quickly withdrew his hand, smiling apologetically. “Alright, alright,” he sighed, his voice smooth and young. “I don’t mean to hurt you or anything.”
“Are you alone? Are your parents around?” the man asked gently, leaning back to look down the bustling streets.
The girl shook her head before muttering, “Daddy said not to talk to strangers.”
The man looked back at her and smiled. “Oh, okay! Then let’s not be strangers anymore so I can help you get home, yeah?”
"My name's Law." The blond man slowly offered his hand for her to shake.
The girl eyed his hand as she nervously reached out and her much smaller hand grasped his own. "Your name's funny…"
Law's face lit up at this. "What's your name?" He laughed.
"Marlene," the shy girl muttered.
The blond man audibly gasped. "Oh my gosh, that's a beautiful name!" He said in awe. Marlene smiled shyly.
"So," Law began, standing up, "What say we get you back home, yeah?"
Marlene nodded, still hesitant and reached her hands up towards the blond man.
It took him a few seconds to register what the girl wanted, but when he did his eyes lit up and a wide, childish grin crossed his face.
