Gene stares at Kian obviously for a few minutes until he finally looks at them. Without missing a beat Gene simply asks, "Are you gonna ask me to be your Valentine?"
As the minutes ticked by, it was becoming increasingly hard to not look Gene in the face. Their eyes practically bore holes into him, and Kian could only image what he himself looked like -- feigning interest in physics homework he didn’t want to do, a hand shielding the side of his glasses, pointed not making eye contact. Gene’s patience really was giving Kian a run for his money. And eventually his will caved.
Gene was ever the straight shooter, wasting no time in expressing what they wanted. Kian had to admire them for it. Sighing, he stood up and walked over to his side table. The terrariums had been spending a bit too much time floating around it, as if trying to give up his secret, and he shooed them away to open the drawer and take out a small, long box.
As he walked over to Gene, he carefully opened it to pull out a silver anklet with a singular heart on its chain, its inset gem a vibrant purple. He knelt before Gene and gingerly took one of their legs, clasping the anklet on. It still took him a moment to finally look up, gaze softened immediately.
“Will you... be my Valentine, Gene?”
