daniel and blair have a late night at the headquarters and find life changing information.
Blair was no stranger to late nights, especially when it came to work. So, after her last class, she headed straight to the headquarters to work on planning the next trip. Blair knew it wasn’t a good idea to go investigating again… it was too soon but the team needed it. Somehow, after every tragedy, they all seemed to come together like a little family. She hated to admit it, but she loved that about them.
Blair stretched her arms, yawning. The clock read 12:28 am and she knew she should call it a day and head home for the night — but she decided against it. Sending her father a quick text saying she was spending the night at a friends’ (he’d flip out if he knew she was still at work seeing as he was very hesitant on having her go back there after Silverwood), she put her phone down and rose from her seat, walking up the stairs to the second floor where Daniel was.
They’ve had little to no interaction ever since she found out about him and Naomi— and when they did talk, it was Blair going off on him. It hurt her to know that someone she called a friend went behind her back and slept with her boyfriend… someone she loved. Sure, she knew about Naomi’s little crush but she never expected her to act on it. Once she got to the second floor, she made her way towards the recording room where she assumed Daniel was.
“Hey, I’m going to go get something to eat. Do you want anything?” She asked, poking her head in to see her ex focusing on some equipment. That was something she always admired about Daniel. He had all the qualities of a good leader: smart, resourceful, charismatic, funny, and very ambitious. No wonder they chose him to be the one in charge of the team.
Despite herself, she once again lamented over how happy they used to be together. She had never pictured herself with anyone else but him. Blair had it all planned; get married a year after they graduate and then in a few years, have a couple of little ones for the picture perfect nuclear family. Little did she know, he had already done the latter with someone else .
Daniel perked up the second he heard Blair’s voice. He’d been so caught up in his work that he didn’t even realize anyone else was still there. That had been a habit of his lately; staying at work until it was unreasonably late, perfecting everything they were doing. The team was his life; he loved these people more than anyone else and he just wanted to see them succeed. Sure, he hadn’t been thrilled about continuing to investigate (hell, he was still weary about it), but he saw how important it was to the rest of the group and that was enough for him to suck it up and keep going. And the work was paying off, Netflix had recently reached out to them, interested in giving them a show. Daniel hadn’t told anyone else in fear of jinxing it, but he couldn’t wait to finalize the deal and get the team the attention they deserved.
“Yeah, actually,” he said, shooting Blair a small smile. “I’ll come with,” he paused, “if that’s okay.” Blair had (rightfully) been furious at him since she found out the [trump vc] fake news that he had cheated on her with Naomi. It broke his heart to see Blair in the state she was; things had been bad enough for her since they’d gotten back from Silverwood, and this was just another thing she shouldn’t have to deal with. Since then, she hadn’t been anything but hostile towards him, but he knew her well enough to know how badly she was hurting. It killed him to know he did that to her. He would always love her, even if she wished she’d never loved him.
It was late and she didn’t have the energy to come up with an excuse to go on her own, so she just shrugged her shoulders in response. “Sure, I was just heading up to that Chinese place across the street anyways.” It feels weird, talking to him like this. Like they never dated. Like they weren’t in love. Like he hadn’t cheated on her. Blair knew that, eventually, they were going to have to talk about it… actually talk about it. She wanted him to tell her why she wasn’t good enough and why Naomi , out of all people. She wanted to yell and cry and show all the emotions she’s kept bottled up for a whole year. But right now… right now the only thing she could do was shoot him an awkward smile and hope nothing got too serious for the night. “I’m going to get my purse, meet you outside?” She asked, already turning to leave.
Honestly, Daniel was slightly shocked that Blair was being so civil to him. He definitely wasn’t complaining, it was nice, he just hadn’t expected it. He waited a few moments after Blair left again, wanting to give Blair her time instead of just following on her heels. Finally, he stood up, patting his pockets until he felt his wallet and keys, and left the room.
He pushed the door open, smiling at her again. Usually, Daniel always locked the door, no exceptions, but it was the middle of the night and they were just running across the street. What was the worst that could happen? And so his keys stayed in his pocket as he headed towards the restaurant.
Once she reached her desk, she gathered her wallet, phone and jacket, making sure everything was in place before walking away. She passed Naomi’s desk and saw the picture she had of her and the twins, perfectly angled towards her as if Naomi had done it on purpose. All her life, Blair had everything she wanted but again, she felt the foreign feeling of jealousy— how come she was the one who got that with Daniel? It wasn’t fair. She shook her head, calming herself down seeing as dinner was already going to be awkward enough. She didn’t need the green eyed monster to ruin it even more.
Daniel held the door open for her, and, simple as the gesture was, it managed to change Blair’s whole demeanor. It’s bittersweet— this moment. Suddenly, she feels like they’re going on their first date. Nervous glances, awkward exchanges. She walked alongside him in silence as they crossed the street and entered the small and surprisingly quiet restaurant. Blair expected more people since it was finals week and everyone was pulling all nighters to study.
After the two placed their order, Daniel nodded his head to one of the open tables to sit while they waited. The silence was awkward, but, for once, Daniel didn’t know how to break it. What could he say to her that would make anything better? ‘Sorry I knocked up our friend while we were still dating?’ Yeah, that wasn’t going to happen; the situation was at least kind of good between them in that moment, and he didn’t want to ruin it by saying some stupid Daniel thing.
But there was one thing he could tell her: the truth. As soon as the thought popped into his mind, he shook his head, as if to shake it away. But it didn’t work. If anyone would understand, it was Blair. The tragedy of Silverwood had brought the team closer than ever; she wouldn’t say anything to anyone else. And at the very least, she wouldn’t be angry with him for cheating. Everyone else could hate him, but he couldn’t live with himself knowing he’d hurt Blair, especially if there was a way around it. “Blair?” he said finally, glancing up at her. It was too late; he’d talked himself into it and now there was no going back, Naomi would just have to forgive him.
She went to sit at the table he gestured to, making sure to get the seat opposite of him. She knew that going out to dinner with her ex after finding out he cheated on her was a terrible idea on so many levels; but she couldn’t, for the life of her, come up with a good enough reason to fight it. Blair placed her keys on the table and sat back, enjoying the only slightly uncomfortable silence that had settled.
However, the quiet didn’t last long. At the sound of her name, Blair’s attention was brought back to Daniel and the moment they were in. What did he have to say to her? She had already told herself that tonight was not the night to talk about what had happened. She wasn’t ready for that. “Daniel, not here.” Blair leaned in, as if anyone else was listening in to their conversation. “I’m not in the mood to talk about anything, I just wanna get our food and eat.” She assumed he wanted to talk about their relationship, but boy, was she wrong.
“Blair, wait, just hear me out. Give me five minutes.” He paused for a beat, wondering if it was a lost cause; why would she want to hear anything he had to say? Before she could argue again, Daniel blurted, “I didn’t cheat on you.” That seemed like a good place to start. After all, he’d just wanted her to know the truth; to know that their relationship wasn’t a lie. “The twins aren’t mine, I never slept with Naomi. We agreed to lie about it, so no one would find out the truth. Y’know how Naomi interviewed Mayer Willis in Silverwood? That night she slept with him and that’s when she got pregnant.” He didn’t even give Blair time to react, too caught up in his own explanation. With every truth he spoke, it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He remembers again why he loved her so much; she made things easier to deal with, even if it was just him telling her the truth. “She didn’t want anyone to know that a serial killer was the twins’ dad, so I said we could tell people I was. But it was a lie. I’d never cheat on you, Blair. I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, Naomi’s probably gonna kill me for telling you, so please don’t give her any shit. She already gets enough from Vee. I just couldn’t live with you thinking I didn’t care about you or our relationship,” his voice trailed off as their order number was announced and, before she could respond, Daniel jumped up to grab their food.
As he explained what really happened, Blair just sat in silence, trying to wrap her head around everything he’s saying. He didn’t cheat… Naomi slept with a serial killer… to any sane person, this would have sounded made up and far fetched, but, to her— it didn’t. Now Blair is thinking back and re-analyzing everything; from how secretive Naomi had been all these months to her reaction when she found out about Mayer. She felt so stupid for being jealous and petty towards both Daniel and Naomi. She understood why Naomi would want to cover that up, who would want the world to know that they had sex with a serial killer? What she doesn’t understand is why they didn’t tell her the truth… did any of the original members know about this or was she the only one left out of the loop?
So many things ran through her mind as she waited for Daniel to return, suddenly not feeling so hungry anymore. “Why didn’t you tell me? Of course I wasn’t going to give her shit for it, she didn’t know… wait, she didn’t know who he was right?” If Naomi did know then that changed her perspective on everything. “Did Micah, Damaris, Cristian or Bryce know? Was I the only one not in on it or?” Blair can’t help but throw in a slight attitude in there— she hated being left out of things.
As Daniel sat back down, the questions started. Understandably, Blair had a lot of them. “It’s just what Naomi wanted. And with everything she went through, I didn’t want to go against her wishes. I wanted to protect her.” He wanted to protect all of them; after all, Silverwood was his fault. He shook his head. “No, she had no idea. She didn’t know until he,” Daniel’s voice trailed off, “Y’know. ” Tried to kill them. “Micah and Vee are the only ones that know.”
Then there was the fact that he really hadn’t cheated on her… he still cared about her. That made her feel so much better— better than she had been these past few weeks. Daniel cared, he wasn’t a cheater, he’s exactly the person she knew he was. Kind, loyal… everything that made her fall in love with him. “You really hurt me, you know?” She looked up from the table and into his eyes, biting her lip softly as she thinks of something else to say. “I really thought you didn’t care about me.”
“I know,” he said, reaching across the table to cover her hands with his. “I know I did. And it killed me to know that I did. I never wanted to hurt you, B, you’re too important to me. That’s why I had to tell you the truth.” He was just relieved that Blair believed him, that she hadn’t laughed in his face and told him to fuck off; there was still hope for their friendship, and that’s what really mattered to him. Naomi would be okay, Blair wouldn’t tell anyone, and at least now, she wouldn’t hate him for the rest of his life.
She nodded along as he explained himself and Blair felt all the stress and heaviness lift from her shoulders. Of course she understood, she knew that if anyone had asked him to do what Naomi had, he would have done it in a heartbeat. It was just the type of person he was, just the type of person she’d known him to be all along. As he reaches across the table, Blair felt those butterflies in her stomach. She was still in love with him— even suspected that this would forever be the case— but there’s much that’s in the way of them even trying to get back together. Still, she’s glad she knows what it’s like to be in love, especially with someone like Daniel. She was always the best version of herself whenever she was with him.
“Thank you for telling me.” And for the first time in a long time, she genuinely smiled. Not the smile that she gives her dad when he asks how’s she’s doing or the smile she gives her therapist after the end of their sessions— but a real one. “Sometimes, I feel like we’re in some reality TV show or something…” She let out a short laugh, pulling her hand out from beneath his. Blair reached over for her plate of food, getting out the plastic utensils that came with it. “We should probably try to hurry up. It’s pretty late and— well, I don’t know about you but I have a lot of work to do. While spending the night at the headquarters sounds pretty inviting,” she’s joking, obviously. Blair would rather die than spend the night there, “I should be heading home soon.”
Although their dinner was fairly short, it was nice. Despite everything that changed, they were still Blair and Daniel, and it felt good to hang out with her again; he’d missed her. The pair finished eating and cleared their trash before heading out the door back over to hq. Daniel held the door for Blair, and followed her inside. Almost immediately, something felt off. He couldn’t quite place what it was, but he had a bad feeling in his gut. But being Daniel, he pushed that aside and shot Blair a small smile. “What else do you have to do tonight, maybe I can help you out? Get you outta here a little sooner?”
She enjoyed the dinner; it had been a long time since she had gone out and actually had a good time. Once they returned, she quietly thanked Daniel. “Desk work, mostly. Just organizing things for the next trip.” Blair doesn’t have to explain, she’s sure that he already knows what she’s doing.
She walked over to her desk and, again, passed where Naomi usually sat only to realize that the picture of her and the twins that she had seen not even an hour ago wasn’t in its spot anymore. “Uh, Dan?” Blair called out, slowly making her way to Naomi’s desk. She’s so confused, how could the picture just disappear like that? From what she knows , she and Daniel were the only two who had stayed late tonight.
Daniel followed Blair to her desk, grabbing someone else’s chair to sit with her. “What’s up?” He asked, close on her heels. His eyes scanned her desk, looking for something that would make Blair call him over. “Wait, doesn’t Naomi have a picture on here? Or, I’d be surprised if she didn’t have one of the twins.”
His imagination wandered to the worst possible scenario, and his heart dropped. He was so caught up in his problems with Blair that he’d completely forgotten what Lana had told him. Immediately, he grabbed onto Blair’s arm and pulled her close to him. He proceeded to take his phone out of his pocket, typing 911 but not yet pressing the call button. He didn’t want to jump to any conclusions, however he was already expecting the worst. On the other hand, maybe it was stupid to think that a serial killer broke into hq while they were at dinner.
But then he heard footsteps.
When he pulled her close, she knew something was wrong. “What is it?” She asked. Although, just after, she heard the footsteps as well. “That could be anyone.” Blair hated to admit but she began to get nervous. “Maybe it’s Naomi? That could explain the missing picture.” She looked over at him, hoping that she was right. “Nay?” Daniel’s voice was shaky, but he said it loud enough for whoever it was to hear her. “What are you doing here?”
He knew she was right. It could be anyone, but he also knew everyone else had already gone home. He hoped he was wrong and that someone had just had to come back to grab something, but it wasn’t the time for optimism. Not when Blair could get hurt. “B, I don’t think it’s Naomi,” he whispered after too long of a moment passed and there was still no reply.
Now Blair was scared. She turned to look over at Daniel. “We have to hide,” she mouthed, looking around the office before her eyes landed on the open door that led to the basement. Someone they didn’t know was down there. “Let’s go.”
Daniel let Blair drag him away, his mind preoccupied with what they should be doing. Hiding didn’t feel right. They should’ve made a beeline for the door the second that they realized someone was in there with them, but they didn’t. It was like they were back in Silverwood, making one mistake after another, but Daniel had sworn he wouldn’t let something like this happen again. But it was, and, somehow, it felt worse this time than it had before.
This couldn’t be happening, not again. Blair thought that she left Silverwood behind; there was no way that she was about to go through this again. She thinks back to everything she did wrong that time: not running fast enough, not being able to hide in a good place, not being able to fight back . She took Daniel’s hand in hers and led him to the other side of the building where their supply closet and conference room was. “Call the police, now.” Blair whispered, not wanting the intruder to know where they were.
Nodding, Daniel looked at his phone, but his screen had gone dark. He cursed under his breath, pulling Blair into the closet and shutting the door behind him as quietly as possible “My phone’s dead. Please tell me you have yours and it’s not in your purse.”
“Oh, Daniel.” Even from their place in the closet, they could hear the voice outside. Daniel’s heart dropped. He’d watched Naomi’s interview enough times to recognize Mayer Willis’ voice. He sounded far away, hopefully far enough that he would leave before he found them. “You’d think a leader like yourself would know how to lock a door. Especially with serial killers on the loose. That’s awfully irresponsible. Do you even care about your team?”
Instinctively, Daniel wrapped his arms around Blair’s shoulders, pulling her close to his chest, as if that could protect her. His heart was racing and his hands were clammy as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of Blair’s head, hoping to calm her down. Maybe they’d get lucky. They couldn’t have gone through everything just for this to be the end of the line.
Tears started rolling down Blair’s face, and she tried incredibly hard not to sob so loudly. She knew who was out there: it was the man who had terrorized her and her friends in Silverwood. A shiver went down her back as he started talking to Daniel. No, please don’t. She squeezed her eyes shut, hoping that’d he just go away. But that wasn’t going to happen.
“Not going to answer me, huh? Alright, I guess I’ll do all the talking.” She heard his footsteps echo throughout the office, looking for them. “I wasn’t planning on killing you , I was really hoping to find Naomi or Solana here.” Solana ? Was he talking about Lana? What does Lana have to do with this? How does he know about Lana? Blair pulled away from Daniel’s chest and looked up at him, confused.
Daniel’s grip on Blair loosened slightly as he kept talking, completely focused on what he was saying. Maybe he’d be able to use it to find a way out of there. His expression matched Blair’s as Mayer brought up Lana. It wasn’t very reassuring to know that he knew the names of the new team members as well.
“Oh, how could I forget, that little brat changed her name. It’s Lana Cruz now. She was Solana Marie Winship. Had my last name. Then she found out who I really was and decided she was too good for me. Coulda been famous, just like her dad.” Blair’s jaw dropped there’s no way that what he was saying true.
His eyes widened as Mayer announced that Lana was his daughter. He didn’t want to believe it— maybe he was just saying that to get to them. But that hardly mattered in the moment, all Daniel had the time to worry about was how to get Blair out of there. As Mayer continued his monologue, Daniel tuned him out, focusing instead on figuring out his next steps.
And then it hit him. There was no escape route for him. He was going to die. Daniel waited a beat before deciding Mayer was far enough away that he could whisper to Blair. “Blair, he doesn’t know you’re here. If I go out there and give him a distraction, you can get out. You have to get out.” He knew she would protest, but held up a finger to her lips; he couldn’t risk her being heard and targeted by Mayer. “It’s the only way you’ll make it out of here alive, okay? Wait for me to pull him away from here, and then get out. I’ll make his work hard,” Daniel promised. Cupping Blair’s face in his hands, he used his thumbs to wipe the tears from her eyes and smiled down at her; despite what he was about to walk into, at least he had mended things with Blair. “I love you, B. More than anything else in the world. Always have, always will.” He pressed a kiss to her forehead before turning and reaching for the door. It didn’t occur to him until he was out the door that it was the last time he’d get to kiss her.
No. She knew what this meant— she knew what he was about to do. “No, Daniel, you can’t.” She wiped again at her tear-stained cheeks, shaking her head, “I’m not going to lose you.” It’s no use— she can tell by the look on his face that he’d already made up his mind. Soft lips pressed to her forehead, and Blair shut her eyes; it was too much. This can’t be it, it just can’t. They just made up, she finally had something to look forward to. Her and Daniel together again, helping each other heal their wounds from last year. It was good— too good.
“I love you, too.” She whispered, heartbroken as he pulls away. This was the last time she was going to see him, the last time she was going to hear his voice. Now Blair had to make sure she made it out alive. Put up a fight. She wasn’t going to let Daniel die in vain.
Daniel exited the closet and didn’t see anything, at least at first. It was a relief to know that Mayer wasn’t close enough to see where he had been hiding. Mayer had gone silent, and all Daniel could hear as he moved through the building was his own heartbeat. As he almost ran into Isaiah’s desk, he couldn’t help but think about how he hoped someone would clean everything up before the rest of the team had to see what happened to him; they’d been through so much already.
Blair waited a few seconds before following Daniel out, eyes darting around the around the room to make sure that Mayer wasn’t around before crouching behind a nearby desk. Blair didn’t want to just run to the door directly; she feared that she’d trip or something of that nature , foiling their plan.
“Daniel Taupo. So good to see you again.” Before Daniel even looked up, he could hear the smile in Mayer’s voice; it made him feel sick. Mayer was across the room, but Daniel was slightly closer to the stairs. Going up the stairs would only seal his fate, but it kept Mayer’s back to the door and gave Blair the most time to get out. Without a second thought, Daniel took off, taking the steps two, three, at a time. He almost tripped as he neared the top, but caught himself before he ruined everything.
Blair’s breath hitched in her throat as she heard Mayer talking to Daniel, then she saw him run up the stairs, she wanted to cry— he was so brave. He was putting his life on the line, for her . The distraction worked, soon enough Mayer’s attention was on Daniel and he made his way over to the stairs, leaving the area to the front door clear for Blair to escape.
His foot had just hit the top of the stairs when he felt a hand grab the back of his shirt, yanking him backwards and throwing him down the stairs. He stayed still for a moment, in too much pain to move, before he turned his head and saw Blair again. He met her gaze and couldn’t help but smile, just relieved to know she was going to get out. Turning away, Daniel pushed himself up, but didn’t run. Instead, he headed back up the stairs, towards Mayer, his only focus on keeping him away from the door.
Blair heard a loud thump against the floor, and she covered her mouth to keep herself from letting out a squeal. It took everything in her not to rush over and help Daniel, to just abandon their original plan. But, she couldn’t just leave him here, she couldn’t. Then he smiled at her, and all logic and sense flew out the window; she knew she had to help him somehow. That smile was enough to give her that extra push that she needed. Blair slowly began to make her way to the front door, hiding around a corner so that Mayer wouldn’t see her. She held her breath, the room getting quiet for a split second before she heard the two males struggling upstairs.
Daniel knew he wouldn’t be able to get past Mayer, but, at least, he could try and delay the inevitable for as long as Blair needed. As soon as he was close enough, he threw a punch, his fist connecting with Mayer’s cheek. He stumbled backwards slightly, and Daniel took the opportunity to try and get back up the stairs; but he hardly got up a single step before he felt a sharp pain in his side. Inhaling, Daniel’s hands immediately dropped to the wound, and, when he lifted his hand, it came up red. His breathing grew shaky as he attempted to get away, the adrenaline numbing the pain enough so he could focus on getting Mayer away from Blair.
He could hear Mayer chuckle as he stumbled away, unable to get far as the pain from the stab wound intensified. The single punch wasn’t enough, and it didn’t take long for Mayer to catch up, grabbing onto Daniel and spinning him around. He pinned Daniel against the wall and met his gaze. “You didn’t really think you were going to get away from me again, did you?” He taunted as Daniel struggled against his grip. “How do you think the team’s going to do without their leader, huh? Do you think they’ll last that long? Because I don’t. I think you’re the first domino and, after I’m finished with you, it’ll be easy for me to pick off the rest of them.” Daniel opened his mouth to respond, but all that came out was a gasp as he felt the knife sink into his stomach. Mayer pulled the knife in one swift motion, stepping back as he did so, and Daniel slumped forward, dropping to his knees with his hands pressed on the newest wound. “And now, there’s nothing you can do to protect them.” Mayer stabbed him again, and Daniel’s vision went blurry. Each ragged breath he took was more painful than the last. “I think I’m gonna start with Blair.” Daniel’s heart dropped to his stomach; He knew Blair was there. “She couldn’t have gotten too far, even if you took a little bit longer than I’d planned.” Daniel felt the tears running down his cheeks as he heard Mayer walking away, praying that Blair was far from headquarters already.
His last thoughts were of the team: Naomi with the twins, reuniting with Ashley after he’d thought he’d lost her forever, how he’d watched Elijah’s confidence grow over the year he’d been working with him, how he had made up with Blair just in time, how, despite everything they’d gone through— all the pain, all the loss —they had given him the best years of his life. All he could do was hope that giving his life was enough to save theirs. Thinking of them was enough to put a small smile on Daniel’s face as his eyes fluttered closed, his world going dark. How fitting it was that the boy that spent all his energy putting a smile on his friends’ faces died with one they’d put on his.
It got quiet, too quiet. Blair let out a few shaky breaths before turning her head to see if the coast was still clear. It was. There was a clear path from her current spot to the door and she knew that this was the only chance she was going to get to make it out. You can do this, B. You can. If Daniel believed in you then you have to believe in yourself too . She wiped the tears that had formed at the thought of Daniel and she took one more deep breath before sprinting across the room and towards the exit.
“Oh, Blair,” Mayer said in a tone that made her skin crawl, “Where do you think you’re going?” She doesn’t know how, but he’s right behind her. His voice is so close and she could practically feel his breath on the back of her neck. She tried to shake away the uneasiness that that started to bundle up in her stomach, hoping that the adrenaline running through her body could get her just a few steps closer to freedom. She was about to push the door open when suddenly she felt herself being grabbed from behind and thrown onto the floor. Her head hit the surface so hard that she started to see spots, but she pushed through it and sat up quickly. She began to crawl towards the door again, but Mayer grabbed her leg and pulled her towards him. “Let me go!” She shrieked, tears rolling down her cheeks as she tried to kick out of his grasp. It was no use; he was too overpowering and his strong build towered over her.
“I don’t think I can do that.” Mayer flipped her over, so that she was on her back, staring up at him. Before anything else, she noticed the blood that stained his crisp, white shirt. Blair let out a loud sob at the realization that Daniel was dead . Even though she knew it was going to happen, there was still a small part in her that hoped that he would have made it out alive.
Mayer smiled as Blair cowered on the ground, her sobs racking her body. “If you’re going to kill me, just get it over with. Coward.” She spit the words out venomously, not breaking eye contact with the man that killed the love of her life. His grin only widened in response, and suddenly, Blair felt a sharp pain on her side. Then another on her stomach, and another on her chest. Soon enough, the pain became too overwhelming, and her body went numb.
Her vision grew fuzzy and dark— the only thing she could make out was the outline of Mayer Willis, slowly and forcefully draining the life out of her. She never used to believe in heaven or life after death, but god, did she hope that she and Daniel would be reunited again, somehow.
Naomi pulled up the parking lot outside of the headquarters, deciding to come in earlier than usual because of how much work she had to do that day. She sent a quick message in the groupchat saying that she was going to be there just in case anyone else wanted to tag along for some early morning work shenanigans. Gathering her things, she got out of her car and began to make her way up to the front doors. Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her pocket and she pulled it out, seeing a reply from Ashley: i’ll be there soon! Naomi was surprised to see that she was the only one who replied but shrugged it off, at least she had someone to spend the morning with.
“Hey Naomi,” Ashley said walking up to the other girl with a bright smile on her face, despite the hour. “What are you doing up so early?” As she spoke she glanced at Naomi over her shoulder and walked up to the door and turned the handle, not even thinking that the door should be looked.
“I don’t know, I just woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep.” She began to go through her purse, looking for her set of keys to open the door. However, Ashley just walked past her and was able to open it with ease. That meant the door was unlocked. Naomi’s eyebrows furrowed; how odd. Daniel always made sure to lock up before leaving every night. Maybe he forgot?
Nodding, Ashley walked into the building, not really paying attention to where she was going until she noticed the smell in the building. Stopping in her tracks, Ashley turned away from Naomi. Immediately, her hand flew behind her to grab onto Naomi’s arm. “Naomi?” her voice was shaky as she realized what she saw; Blair’s body. She ran over and bent down next to her, she knew what had happened to her but grabbed onto Blair anyway. Tears blurred her vision and she turned around to look at Naomi again. “What do we do?”
Naomi stayed frozen in her spot, eyes glued to Blair’s body. No, this wasn’t real. This wasn’t happening. “Blair wake up.” She whispers, knowing damn well that was not going to happen. It was like everything around her had stopped and the only thing she could focus on was bloody mess that was on the floor. She felt Ashley tugging at her arm, but Naomi couldn’t move. “C-Call the police... Now.” Her head turned to look at the blonde before she took a step back, trying to process what was happening. Blair was dead, she really was. Naomi felt like she was in one of the many nightmares she had after Silverwood.
With shaky hands, Ashley pulled out her phone and dialed 911. “Our friend is dead,” she said the second the dispatcher answer. Her voice shook as she answered their questions without even thinking about them, still not fully registering what was happening.
Naomi heard Ashley on the phone with the police but she physically couldn’t move from her spot, her eyes were fixated on Blair’s body. Everything felt surreal, she expected for Blair to get up and say that it was just a prank. A joke. She let out a shaky breath and tore her gaze from Blair. “I-I’m going to go make sure no one else is here.” The words came out in a soft whisper and Naomi made her way throughout the office, praying that she wouldn’t find anyone else around.
That’s when she made her way up the stairs and into the second floor hallway. Naomi didn’t want to believe what she was seeing. “Ashley!” She yelled her name out so loud that she was certain everyone on campus could hear her. There in front of her laid Daniel, a pool of blood surrounding his body. Naomi slowly made her way towards him, knees shaking until they finally gave out and she landed next to him, a loud sob racking through her body at the realization that two of her closest friends had been brutally murdered.
The second Ashley hung up the phone, Naomi was yelling her name. Part of her didn’t want to leave Blair. Sure, she knew she was dead, but part of her felt like she had to stay with her, like if she stayed she would get up. But the tone of Naomi’s voice terrified Ashley; it sounded bad, so she had to leave Blair.
“Daniel?” Through her tears, Ashley didn’t even recognize the sound of her own voice. She felt dizzy, seeing Daniel’s body on the ground, and her legs weren’t able to hold her up, dropping to the ground at the bottom of the stairs. As sobs tore through her body, she brought her shaking hands up to her face, trying to muffle the sound. Daniel was dead.
Her whole body was shaking, but Ashley managed to reach out and grab onto the railing, pulling herself up and making her way up the stairs. The second she was next to Naomi, and Daniel, she collapsed again, wrapping her arms around Naomi and crying into her shoulder.
Having Ashley with her helped ease the pain just a tiny bit, her arms wrapped around the girl and they both sat there— crying in each others arms. Naomi knew how much Daniel meant to Ashley, they were practically brother and sister so this had to be hitting Ashley just as hard as it was hitting her. “A-Ash we have to get up.” The brunette doesn’t want to, she wants to sit here and cry, scream, sob over her best friend’s body but she can’t; it would only mess up any evidence left behind by the person who did this.
Nodding as Naomi spoke, Ashley pulled away, reaching for the railing to help herself off the ground. She held out a hand, using what strength she had left to help pull Naomi up as well. But once they were up, it was as if Ashley couldn’t move; she couldn’t just leave Daniel there. Still sobbing, she didn’t know what else to do, waiting for Naomi to decide their next move.
Naomi took her hand and got up, looking down at Daniel one last time before making her way down the steps. She could hear the police sirens in the distance but somehow that didn’t ease her nerves at all. It didn’t make her feel any better. “We just… we have to wait for the cops to get here and answer their questions. There’s nothing else we can do….” As they walked past her desk, Naomi quickly noticed something was missing. The picture of her and the twins. Her blood ran cold and everything clicked together. Oh no. “Fuck, Ashley… Ashley I know who did this oh my god…. oh my god it’s my fault…” Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks and she began to sob uncontrollably.
The police sirens in the distance sent a jolt through Ashley’s body, and suddenly she was all too aware of what had happened. “Isaiah,” she murmured weakly, patting her pockets to find her phone. “I have to tell him.” It was more to herself than to Naomi, who was caught up in something else.
When she heard Naomi say her name, she whipped around, hearing the fear in her voice. “Naomi? What?” The words she said knocked the wind out of Ashley, as if she had been punched in the gut. “What? Who did it? How do you know?” She pulled Naomi in for another hug, gently rubbing her back.
“He did it!” Naomi said, through her tears, “Mayer did it. He killed them because of me and n-now he’s coming after me and the twins.” Naomi had to get out of there but she couldn’t just leave Ashley alone. “Listen, they should be here any time soon and I heard you calling Isaiah but Ash I really have to go. I have to make sure the twins are okay.” She hoped the blonde would understand and she placed a kiss on her cheek before bringing her in for a tight hug. “You’ll be okay just wait outside.” Naomi gave her one final look before exiting the building and leaving in her car.
Ashley’s heart dropped as Naomi explained, her face going pale. Stumbling backwards, she pressed a hand to her forehead, shaking her head gently. “Naomi, holy shit,” she whispered, fear laced in her words. Nodding, she didn't say anything to try and get Naomi to stay, knowing how important it was for her to get home. “Okay,” she whispered as Naomi pulled her in. “Naomi?” Ashley whispered as she started to turn away. “Please be careful.” Although she wasn't fully aware of how severe the situation was, she knew that Blair and Daniel were dead, and the last thing she wanted was to see Naomi end up the same way. Following Naomi’s path outside, the second the December air hit Ashley’s face she collapsed on the pavement in front of their building, sobbing into her hands as the sound of sirens grew louder.

( fri, feb 9th. / location(s): kirby motel. )
they’ll get to silverwood that night and settle in to the abandoned motel where the original eight stayed during patients. that night they’re just gonna chill, get fucked up and try not to think about anything too serious. we’ll be dropping all non silverwood related dash threads this night !
( sat, feb 10. location(s): the town. )
nothing happens the next day, it’s all very... normal and they’re just walking around the town to get familiar with it.
( sat night, feb 10. location(s): fairgrounds, kirby motel. )
the first big thing that happens is returning the necklace to the fairgrounds. they get there the night after they arrive and that’s when things start getting weird. they start to hear and see things. they try to return the necklace but fail because of all the ghosts and stuff so they just turn back and decide to return later. they go back to the motel and hang out, do some interview things for the show. [ DISCORD GROUP EVENT AND THEN DASH THREADS ]
( sun, feb 11. location(s): kirby motel, around town, silverwood hospital. )
they spend the next day filming for netflix and that night, @cristicns ( who’s really emmerson ) pulls ashley aside because she’s the easiest target and says something along the lines of “being back at silverwood is weird for the demon in him and he feels this draw to the hospital and thinks that if he gets back there, emmerson will just leave” so he asks her to go with him and naturally, ashley is dumb and believes him and agrees to go with. they sneak out of their rooms and go. that’s when he almost tries to kill her. @itskimibitch , who is sharing a room with ashley, notices that they’re gone and alerts the team. they head out to look for them.
that’s when they get to the hospital and where emmerson and sabrina attack the group. they split up into two groups to try and get away and sabrina picks the wrong group to follow, because the other is the one who has the necklace. they get chased and spooked around for a bit when @yalikeghosts destroys the necklacein hopes to save them all from getting murdered by sabrina. without a partner in crime, emmerson decides to wait for his next opportunity and gives cristian some control back. they go back to the motel thinking everything is good now. [ DISCORD GROUP EVENT ]
( mon, feb 12 / location(s): courthouse basement. )
they’re shaken up but still can’t leave because they don’t have enough to film for the episode so they stay and do more bits around town. that’s when @brycekngs @totcllymeta and @isaiahmax find two dead bodies in the basement of the courthouse. the bodies found have been there since patients ( VIDEO LINK... IT’S REALLY CREEPY. ) they call the rest of the team over and that’s when everyone gets locked in the basement and more creepy shit starts to happen. they catch it all on camera. [ DISCORD GROUP EVENT ]
( tues, feb 13 / location(s): kirby motel. )
after they manage to escape the basement, @sofiavxga wanders off to the fairgrounds and begins to hallucinate some pretty disturbing things ( we’ll message you about that later ) and @julicnsv finds her and then they return to the rest of the group
after sofia’s freakout, everyone decides it’s time to go! their plan is to leave in the morning but when they get back to the motel that night, naomi, @zprescott and @micvhisms show up with the news that mayer has kidnapped the kids and boughten them to silverwood. that’s when everyone starts arguing and @julicnsv makes a comment about how lana and her dad and the truth is revealed. [ DISCORD GROUP EVENT ]
naomi leaves late that night to look for the twins.
when they all wake up and realize that is gone, they start freaking out about where she could be and lana is the one that knows ( because of her extensive research on mayer ) and sneaks away, not telling anyone because she knows she can find him faster and easier without the rest of the group. @natethemanny notices because he was like figured naomi will come back and now he tells them lana is gone too. none of them know where to go because they’re dumb as hell.
the rest is a surprise because we love to have fun !
we have another plot drop planned and basically ready to be done so if you guys want to have the event for it tonight/tomorrow— like this post and we’ll def set a time to do it ( it’l be on discord; like always ! )
okay so y’all must be wondering wtf we’re about to do after losing four great members and roles ! well we decided that we aren’t going to be opening up for applications for a while and that if anyone here wants to take up a second character— you totally can ! the ones currently available are zach, alex, trevor and bryce ( amanda decided to do god’s work and take up nathan so oop ! ) as for the group ic, we’re gonna be having an event next weekend ( or whenever we have mostly everyone on ) that’ll help us get the plot moving again ! we’re super excited to get the dash going again and what not — so many things are in the works for the rp so with that being said... new year new further ? ( smash that like button after reading this ! )
hey guys ! now that the holidays are over it’s time to pick up activity again. we want to get back in the swing of things and keep the plot moving along, so we really need everyone to be active to have further thrive the way she deserves. even if it’s just something like one reply a day, we need things to be more consistent if we want to develop the plots and characters we have ! with that being said, you all have until sunday to either post ic or message us about why you can’t post ic if you would like to keep your role. please only message us if you’re serious about keeping your role and genuinely think you can get (and keep) your activity up ! LIKING THIS POST WON’T SUBSTITUTE FOR AN IC POST OR MESSAGE ! JUST A LITTLE HEADS UP !
