Okay, let's try something (potentially) fun. I have this WIP that will probably stay a WIP forever, collecting dust in my google sheets folder. So I figured ... why not release it into the wild and see if someone else wants to pick it up.
And by someone else, I mean ... anybody who wants to. You don't have to finish it. For all I care, just add a single sentence and see if someone else will give it a go - with or without your addition. Or someone else's. Whatever.
Sounds confusing? It really isn't. All you gotta do is click on this little thingie
You will find it when you click on the notes of any post and it will show the reblogs of said post, and how they are connected.
Anyway, this might be fun, or this might end up a complete failure. We'll see, I guess. And now, without further ado:
The first time it happened, Kylo was standing next to Hux in Snoke’s throne room, making a somewhat rude comment about something the other man had just said. Stiff and straight, Hux stared right ahead, only the way his thin lips were pressed together betraying his distaste. It amused Kylo greatly to rile him up, to cause a crack in that otherwise impeccable countenance of his. The man was simply insufferable, a self-righteous prick. And Kylo was – not for the first time – glad for his mask, as he didn’t have to try and hide his gloating smirk, when Hux was dismissed by Snoke pretty unceremoniously.
He strode away briskly, the soles of his perfectly shined boots clicking loudly on the polished obsidian floor, his contempt for Kylo almost palpable in the air. And then, just when he was about to leave the throne room, the clacking sound stopped for a second, and Kylo could feel Hux’s gaze burning on the back of his neck.
It was then that he heard it for the first time. Hux’s voice, loud and clear, rang out directly in his mind, like he was broadcasting his thoughts directly towards Kylo.
Step on my throat, Kylo Ren, you rudely large man. Break my fingers, you brooding mountain.
Kylo almost stumbled, his eyes under the mask going wide. What … the fuck?! Was the force malfunctioning somehow? Could the force even malfunction? It had to be, because there was just no way General Stick-Up-His-Ass Hux had just thought … that!
“You are distracted”, Snoke chided. “If you cannot focus on the matters at hand, you are of no use to me.”
Chastised, Kylo bowed his head. “I will meditate to clear my mind of all disturbances.”
“See that you do,” Snoke dismissed him. “Go.”
Oh, and this is what this is about - it's funny, go watch it XD
But again, it doesn't matter if you want to continue in this vein or not. Just do you!
Hello, hello everyone. Today I bring you my cursed child of a roleplay playthrough. Basically, Stardew is one of my favorite games because of its cozy vibes, the characters, the main storyline, etc. I just think it's a gorgeous game and even though there are TONS of mods out there to expand on the plotline, I'm a vanilla player (mostly because I can't be bothered with the whole process of installing mods and I don't think my RENTED laptop can withstand it, honestly).
The thing is, I also love roleplaying, and some of the elements of the game (especially the introduction of the game, Lewis' comments about taxes, and the grange display sequence) made me think way too deeply about gentrification in my country, my connection with my late grandparents, what it feels like to be an inhabitant of the periphery (to work in the city but to live on the outskirts) and all the things that make Mexican culture and the way I relate to it, special.
During my first playthrough, I made it 5 years in until the game crashed because I was playing it on a really, really old device, so now that I'm more familiar with the game and the lore, I decided to focus more on this roleplay aspect rather than in obtaining all achievements and the Statue of Perfection quickly, so I decided to expand upon the few elements of roleplay that I had on my first run. The only massive changes I made to my style of gaming on this try, are my choice of husband (Elliott instead of Abigail) and the fact that I'm actively trying to befriend characters like the Dwarf and Krobus, who I didn't get to meet on my first attempt.
Tbh, I'm going to start with the playlist that gives this playthrough its name, and then maybe post some of my cursed fanfics and the fanart they inspired. So far I have fanfics with Abigail, Shane, and Elliott, but we'll see how everything gets. I'm keeping this as a master post to link everything and hope you join me in this weird hybrid that I love.
🐄Stardew Valley but you're at a rancho 🇲🇽
The Playlist
And here you have it friends, the cursed playlist that started it all. Every time I
I’ve had this bouncing around my head for awhile now and then after the finale it just kind of happened. Oops.
This is a Norma/Romero - Bates Motel drabble. Warning: spoilers for the finale.
Just a one-off experiment and I haven’t rewatched the series multiple times so, this is probably far from ideal, but I had to get it out.
Also, I really think @galentines should write a Bates Motel fic too ;-)
Title: Where are we going?
They don’t talk about White Pine Bay here.
For the most part, it works. Of course, sometimes Norma gets that faraway look in her eye. He can tell that she’s getting a wiggle of a little something in her brain bugging her, nagging at her gently as if she’s trying to remember if she left the oven on after taking out a pot roast.
But then she catches him staring and she smiles. A brilliant, happy grin that floods his heart with so much more love than he ever knew he was capable of. When that happens, White Pine Bay is once again quickly forgotten as the warm Caribbean air of Anguilla circles around them and he takes her hand and suggests a walk along the white sand of Rendezvous Bay before dinner.
One thing is true though, even here on a faraway island surrounded by the deep blue sea, a full 4,582 miles from coastal Oregon, Norma Bates is a mother first and everything else second.
No matter how amazing the sunsets are here, they both know that.
They might not ever say Norman’s name out loud, but somehow he’s always here too–just a little bit. He’s hiding behind a palm tree and spying disapprovingly at them as they kiss in the sun.
To keep the intrusion at bay, they have another round of daiquiris at dinner, dance barefoot on the beach under the moonlight for a few more minutes, or they moan just a little bit louder when they’re all naked and entwined on the bed, the surf through the open window providing an ideal soundtrack. The waves crash and Alex’s fingers pull at Norma’s blonde hair and he feels her shudder beneath him and kiss sloppily along his jaw as she comes undone.
It was the best thing he’d ever done, Alex thinks the next morning, buying those one-way tickets to British Anguilla when Norman was safely secured at the Pineville Institute. They’d just packed their bags and left together.
Where are we going? he’d quietly asked her once in the parlor of that old creepy house and even as she’d freely cried with relief against him, the unspoken answer was always here.
“Hmmm,” Norma says now, one afternoon with a lazy, faraway gaze as the sparkle from the diamond ring on her left hand catches his eye. “It is beautiful here with you. But sometimes, I do miss…the motel.”
“You could open one on the island,” he presses, moving closer to her. They have a beach blanket spread out on the sand and like every day, it’s sunny and warm and perfect. “Think of all the tourists that need a place to stay on their dream vacations. Bates Motel Two. A fresh new start.”
She laughs. “Well, I do like new beginnings. But it’s a lot of work, you know, opening a motel. Curtains don’t get hung all by themselves.”
“I could help,” Alex offers, before moving in for an affectionate kiss. Of course he’d help. He’d help her with anything.
Besides a pair of leather sandals and multiple pairs of shorts, in the paradise of their new home, Alex Romero owns a Hawaiian shirt. Norma bought it for him not long after they arrived and presented it to him after dinner one night, unable to control her giggles at the thought of him wearing it. While it’s nothing like what he would normally ever put on, for her…he does. And to his surprise, it’s pretty damn comfortable and besides, it goes well with her tropical skirts and the scented fresh flowers she sometimes wears in her hair.
Before Norma came into his life, he never considered himself much more than a cop. A small town sheriff that was just a bit dirty. That was the uniform he wore, his whole existence, aside from an occasional night with Rebecca Hamilton from the bank. But now? Alex is a husband and he more than agreeably wears a garishly patterned shirt if it makes his wife happy.
* * *
He still tastes the pleasant salt on Norma’s warm skin when he wakes up in his jail cell. The air is no longer gentle and humid but dry and sharp, like a million little needles digging into his skin.
It’s just a dream he has some nights.
In real life, they never ran away together and left White Pine Bay behind for good. And Norma is still dead because her son, Norman murdered her.
But Romero is still going to kill Norman for what he did, so that’s something, he supposes.
* * *
A year later, the ground is cold beneath him and the rock to his head and then the bullets have already done all of the damage that they’re going to. He knows he’s dying.
He’s dying next to Norma’s long-gone but still-here body and if he can’t kill her murderer with his bare hands, there’s still so much he wants to tell her insane son. To yell and rail against him with his last gasps, about how he robbed the world of such a wonderful and unique presence, about how Norman didn’t deserve her devotion or her love, but now, he can’t even do that. There’s hardly any air left in his lungs to just be.
Romero is cold and even more broken than before but then somehow it all stops hurting and she’s there. Not her nightmarishly preserved corpse but really her, Norma Bates–full of light and fun and fiery passion. She’s wearing a brightly flowered skirt that ties at her hip and when she reaches for his hand, he gladly takes it, more than ready to follow her back to paradise.
