 Out of the Blue’s off-screen boyfriends for Robron.  Are likely the silliest thing I have come up with and I’m totally having a ball with it. It’s so ridiculous but it seems to work.  Calling them Royred in my head.

December 26th has come and gone and I have failed you all. Swear to god I’m still working on it, though. 

Meanwhile, let’s do a rundown of all the people who *haven’t* let you down, shall we? We shall.

December 13 + 16: At night, in my dream, I know what it’s all about by Violiko. “Set in an alternative universe after season 6, where 6.12 happened almost like in canon, but the bullets didn’t kill Quinn, he was only very badly hurt. Many months have passed. The story begins when Quinn has to build a new life after completing therapy.

December 14: Sleep in heavenly peace by hidingupatreeorsomething. “Quinn and Julia’s ‘first’ date - and what happens next…This is set in the 'Shore’ AU and picks up just as Quinn and Julia set off on their first date, right at the end of Chapter 19 of On the Shore of the Wide World… and then watches their relationship develop for the next couple of months.

BONUS December 14: What Was Lost by elim_garak. “It’s a Christmas love story. Or, to be fair, it’s a love story told on Christmas Eve. Or maybe, it’s about one Christmas, which became all about a love story. And brought together three broken hearts.It begins when two old lovers and operatives conspire together to bring a memory of long lost love to a mother of a child of one of their own. December 19: One Night in Hong Kong by Frangipaniflower. “It was a magical night, she thought, their plans marking the threshold to a new phase of their relationship. That they suddenly could make plans. That they were talking about the future and not the past. And that it would be just them, for four weeks, travelling through Europe and being together, making memories. She smiled when she thought how they‘d speak about it a few years later, their first real vacation together. Quinn looked at her that moment and seeing her so content made him feel a tingling sensation deep inside. He didn’t ask what she was thinking about because he thought he knew. But he stopped and pulled her in for another kiss, long and lingering, both of them indulging in anticipation as they were going to have all night together.”

December 19: Endings by Laure001 (ok you’re forgiven). “Wait, Quinn. You still have chocolate on your butt.“ (’nuff said)

December 20: The days turn into weeks by pincushionproteas. “Sometime early after 6.03, after the “why” scene and the nightmare….they’ve had a good few days since.“

December 21: SNQA with another instant classic! Truth or Dare: A Christmas Story. “'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the surveillance truck, Carrie and Quinn are playing truth or dare and they might even fuck!” (FYI don’t drink anything while reading this.)

December 22, 24, 26: Used to Be by greenpen. “He tells them he isn’t going to wait until the week after New Year’s to see the Company shrink.He tells them he needs to start the year with the slate wiped clean.” (This fic ruined my life in all the best ways.) Thank you, Sara, for saving my butt.

December 23: The Nanny by InchByInch, totally saving Ange’s butt. “In this AU, Quinn hides the President-Elect in the trunk of one of the hundreds of cars parked in the hotel garage, while he and Carrie take positions hidden nearby to protect Keane with their guns. Of course, none of that is necessary, because loyal officers and troops secure the situation in about 15 minutes, and it doesn’t take them too much longer to identify the real enemies based on Keane’s testimony. With the plot exposed, Franny is immediately returned to Carrie’s custody and Quinn is pardoned.One year later, Christmas is approaching.”

December 25: Bow Down the Tallest Tree by ideal_flower, TOTALLY COMING THROUGH WITH CHRISTMAS JOY. “Armed with a wood saw and a good knife, Quinn was ready to chop down whatever Christmas tree Franny finally decided on. His feet were going a bit numb, however.“

THAT IS ALL. As you can see, our cup overfloweth with kickass holiday contributions even if I utterly blew it. Thank god for Sara (I say this 5x day tbh). And for ALL OF YOU.

“The first time Saul met Carrie Mathison, she was telling someone in authority he was wrong. And if he had a nickel for every time that had happened since, he’d be a rich man now.”

So begins L’Dor Vador, a fic examining the beginning of Carrie’s career at the CIA, from the perspective of Saul. And I know you don’t like Saul, I mean, come on — who does? But it’s ultimately about Carrie using her brain and her wiles in an effort to trap an arms dealer in the Middle East.

It goes awry, of course, because Carrie is Carrie and god forbid she pause for two seconds to even consider following orders. 

The author of this fic (ariadnes_string) very effectively portrays the beginning of this relationship; Carrie briefly mentions her father, and in so few words, the seeds for the bond that she will have with Saul are planted.

I love Carrie, and I love the insight that this fic provides. The author of this fic also wrote one of my all-time favorite C/Q fics, “My tongue upon your scars.” She’s still a prolific writer, albeit not in the Homeland fandom. So she’s smarter than the rest of us, probably.

A long time ago, when the HL fandom was a happy and hopeful place to be, I was an anon; a newbie to the wonderful world of fanfiction. One day, a bet was made between two of my favorite writers, Laure001 and FrangipaniFlower —they proposed a challenge to each other to swap writing styles. And from that bet, the HL C/Q fandom received two fantastic stories of love and hope.

“Love in the Time of Zombies,” by Laure001, is an exciting, hilarious, and yes, dear readers, a sexy story of Carrie and Quinn in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. They are hiding in the train tunnels, trying to survive, with zombies everywhere and running low on food and ammunition. They get themselves into some very “tight” situations. But, have no fear, it all ends well in this beautifully written (of course) and imaginative story.

“Nine Hours (and Several Endings),” by our very own FrangpaniFlower, is a story of love, pain, missed opportunities and opportunities taken. She uses dialogue only, to beautifully convey Quinn’s and Carrie’s thoughts and feelings and Laure’s signature “dear reader” style to narrate. The story takes place when Carrie and Quinn have a chance meeting on an airplane years after their kiss. Quinn is not in good shape. Things happen. Different things happen depending on which ending you read. (I bet everyone will be able to guess my favorite ending, even though it involves a bathroom.)  Read them all! Even with the altered writing style, it still has all of the warmth, feeling, and hot smut, of a classic Frangi story.

I’m not sure who actually won the bet, because both authors do an amazing job of recreating the other’s style to write wonderful, heartfelt stories that have stayed with me, and maybe even inspired me to do some writing of my own.

And maybe, someday soon, we can convince them to try it again.
