Seeing IRL brands show up in fanfics just takes me out of things a bit. Feels like I'm getting an ad in the middle of a book. Sometimes it's natural but it's more rare than not. Other times it's happening in universes where I'm damn sure the company in question doesn't even exist.
okay pet peeve in fics
when someone is described as "shaking their head" to indicate a yes. its confusing, especially when there's no context added and its just "so-and-so shook their head" and you have to go back and figure it out. it really irks me because that's why we have the word nod- a shake is a no, a nod is a yes.
i fully understand it for people who english isn't their first language but I've seen friends who i know irl and know their first language is english and its still a mix-up. its not enough to fully put me off the fic, but its up there with defiantly and other mix ups. probably above them for me, because at least defiantly has most of the same letters and sounds as definitely. but bruh its something that is so weirdly irksome to me
Sometimes fics will use 'cannot afford medical care/college' as a plot point and I just sit here grumbling like ugh america why can't you have free college and healthcare like everyone else

Yeah, that sucks too. I feel like even if only four people ever read your fic you should want to finish what you started for them. Also just for your own sanity! I don’t write fic really. But if I did, it would drive me nuts to never ever finish a story.
Exactly how I feel. I have a lot of unfinished fic on my computer, but I don't ever publish anything until it's done.

Yes! There is nothing I hate more than forgetting to check if it’s complete, getting emotionally invested, and then noticing that it hasn’t been updated in months! Fail!
Exactly. I'm glad FFN at least gives you the option to search only completed fics. I also hate when people won't write more unless they get a certain number of reviews, bugs the crap out of me!
Does anyone else only read fics once they're flagged "complete" just to save themselves the aggravation that comes with the slow updates and/or never finished fics.
Can we talk about how much I HATE Fanfiction.net's new filtering system that allows you to set more characters to a fic? If I'm looking only for Tiva fics, then you have just made it harder for me to find them because people will add either Tony or Ziva in the fic even if they only have one line, making me think it might be about them when it's not. STOP IT.
And if people would tag their summaries with which pairing they're writing about, this wouldn't be an issue. START DOING THAT.

Please stop writing teen! or college!Lisa as the clingy girlfriend. She's the exact opposite of clingy.
I don't understand why people don't get that a young Lisa was pretty much the embodiment of a younger Dean's interests. Rock music, sex, easy going, good times.
She's not going to freak out if Dean can't hang out with her because he already made plans with his friends. And if you think all girls are like that you can just fuck off right now.
