“Could I get a medium americano?” The girl at register keeps her eyes on the screen, finger hovering over a button. “Milk, sugar?”  “No thank you,” he says, and her dark eyes flick to his face. They narrow, her mouth turning. Before she speaks, he knows what she’s going to say.  “You look like someone.”  “Probably.”  “No, like, someone I know,” she says, marking a paper cup, using that same marker to tap her cheek. “You in Hoffer’s statistics class?”  “No.”  She shakes her head, clicks her tongue. “You’ve got a twin somewhere on campus, then.” The tap of fingernails on a screen. “Two-fifty, please.”
