Harry thinks of all the times he’s been scared. Most days he was, most of the time. He thinks back to the trip to Charleston, to everything between that day and now, all the time he was scared. He realizes with a start that he is not the same man he once was. He realizes that fear is still a part of his entire being, and most likely always will be. And he realizes that he ran from most things that made him scared. But he also realizes that he became stronger, more independent, that he answered some of his own questions and fell in love along the way, once or twice, because eventually he learned to accept this: that fear is a part of life. That running makes you healthier, stronger. And that when you reach the end of a race, and you cross the finish line, you don’t need to keep running towards the next marathon. You can stop. You can smell the roses.

It’s 1925 and Harry has left his small home to chase after his father’s footsteps. He wants to be a movie star, make money to keep his family comfortable just like his mother had told him his father had. But when he makes it to Chicago, he finds that people aren’t what they seem. The parties are grand, the women charming, and the money rolls. What he doesn’t understand is that behind that beautiful mask of a city there is something lurking in the shadows.

Calling all One Direction fan fiction writers for Ficathon 2016! We need more authors to participate to make this wonderful exchange a success! If you were thinking about signing up, now is the time! 

What is Ficathon 2016? It’s a way to raise money for the boys’ selected charities by writing fan fiction and getting readers involved. More info on the charities can be found here. 

What is the goal? The goal is to get around 15 authors who can write and submit a story (chaptered or oneshot) of at least 5,000 words by May 1. While the stories are being written, we hope to raise at least $500 from fans and readers in donation money. Hopefully, the goal will be reached, and then the fics will be unlocked and made available to read! It’s a win-win. The charities each get a monetary donation, and you, the readers, get new fics to read!

Who can sign up? Anyone! Any author from AO3, Wattpad, Tumblr or anywhere else who has an interest in writing for a cause can sign up to write. 

What are the deadlines? All deadlines are here. But the deadline to sign up as an author is November 30, and fics are due by May 1. 

What can I write about? Anything 1D related! You can come up with your own prompt, or you can ask the admins for help. They will have some prompts available for you to use for your story if you need one. Just remember to talk to the admins about your story first, so they know how to promo your story!

Who is already signed up? So far, there are four authors signed up to write for Ficathon 2016. They are: Emily, Jasmine, Ange and Cara. 

How can I get involved? You can start by reblogging this post! Spread the word about this project, because it will only be successful if people know about it. Tell your friends about it, and when the time comes, donate. If you can, sign up as an author! You don’t need to have an idea right now, but you should have a commitment to the project.
