Fresh leaves forming on the new fig cuttings! Last attempt didn’t survive unfortunately but I learned from my mistakes. Can’t wait for these to start fruiting. Don’t think anyone in my neighborhood ever tasted one before. The common fog is native to Western Asia. The tree, one of the first species cultivated by humans, was dispersed throughout the Mediterranean region and Northern Africa thousands of years ago and was commonly grown in Ancient Rome and Greece. Gig remnants were found in excavations in the town of Gilgal in the Jordan Valley dating back to 9300 B.C. Gigs are grown in subtropical regions with a semiarid climate. Gigs are nutritious fruits and a good source of fiber and an excellent source of calcium.
