If the reader in Horrorland died there would be two main things that happen. Firstly, there's gonna be mass chaos before they discover that earth Yuu has become a ghost and secondly once they realize earth reader became a ghost there gonna be more mass chaos as they recover from the emotional roller coaster and immediately fight to capture earth readers ghost.
Rest goes under cut cause it got long lol
A) if their death was caused by someone or something, there would be hell to pay. A slaughter really because in their rage, despair and grief they would lash out at everyone in the vicinity. Venting out their misery and anger on everyone and everything nearby.
If it's a slasher, perhaps Earth Yuu ran into a slasher that didn't know they were off limits or perhaps accidentally summoned one by setting off a horror trope (the chance of Earth Yuu being killed by Horrorland trope based phenomenon is low but not zero, they just aren't guaranteed death and aren't as likely to induce the insatiable urge to kill in most Killers but that doesn't stop a slasher's knife if they decide to kill out of simple habit), then that slasher will be tortured and killed or simply eaten immediately and then Earth Readers corpse will be guarded and fussed over initially. Some slashers who don't know Earth Yuu is off limits may also purposely target them simply because they seem to have the top Killers attention and for many killers in Horrorland, stealing another's target earns bragging rights and gives them a way to show off or one up another. Basically an ignorant killer might target Earth Yuu in the mistaken belief that they are being given attention because they're a favored target or prey item of a higher up and that killer would want to one up others and show off by looking Earth Reader.
In reaction to this, all would kill them for this idiotic mistake.
Some might torture the poor sap, using them to vent their grief, rage and despair by making sure your murderer feels agony like no other for this tragedy before letting them die slowly of their injuries.
-Vil can't stand to suffer a loss ordinarily, but this is a whole other level and he will be using them for poison and curse experiments. Vil will be putting them through some body horror, resident evil levels of torture until they're begging for death. He's pissed and miserable and openly sobbing, he feels so guilty that he wasn't there to protect you and wishes he had acted faster and taken you to his abode sooner. Even as he's torturing the wretched sod that killed his angel, Vil is thinking on how to preserve your corpse to keep your beauty from fading from memory. You'll be his perfectly kept rose, frozen in time though your beauty will never be it's utmost without that life burning within.
- Azul and Jade are inconsolable and take out their guilt and rage on the sap by inflicting every curse and sushi prep technique they make. The guy will barely even be recognizable through somehow still just barely alive, heart and lungs and ears and brain intact at minimum if only so they can feel every injury and hear every insult. They dump the still barely breathing flayed body to Floyd to maim and kill before all three turn to your corpse. Jade and Azul contemplate how to best preserve your body but also if there are ways to bring you back properly, it IS horrorland after all so bringing ppl back from the dead is very very possible though all three are not above simply eating your body as their attempt to keep you to themselves so no others can have you and so that you can never be taken from them again.
-cater, trey, and Riddle would also torture the transgressor for their crime of harming what was theirs. Not only harming, but in killing you they have taken you from them. An unforgivable crime. A thief most deserving of their agonizing punishment. Riddle goes first and makes a big show of their trial. It's bloody and every insult and attributed crime is etched into them before they receive their sentence. Cater goes next and makes the verdict and sentence a spectacle, snide comments over curdled screams as he methodically makes sure every cut and strike is as painful as possible. Trey is last and takes out his misery and rage on them by going for the teeth, as a baker and someone who values teeth it is the cruelest thing to Trey to render someone toothless- unable to eat to kill and more- and so that is what he does.
-if jamil or Leona or Ruggie get to them first then they will put your murderer through hell as well. They already feel they are on the losing end of things and your death at the hands of this chud enrages them like nothing else. Guilt at not being there to fend them off fuels this rage, and they know that the despair will come later and anger holds it off so they lean into putting your attacker through hell.
Others can't stand the fact that your killer is alive while you're so dead and so cold. It's wrong, it's cruel, it's unfair and so they kill the murderer immediately. This group feels that no amount of torture can make your attacker truly pay and keeping them alive for any longer when your own life was cut so short feels like a slap in the face, this group thinks it's cruelly unfair and unjust for your murderer to live and to be breathing when your corpse lays at their feet. How dare they be alive when you are dead, it's a disservice to you and how this groups wanted to protect you, it's an injustice and it will be corrected with your killer's immediate death. They will guard your corpse or attempt to bring you back. Your death is a wrong that must be righted, corrected.
-the ones that fit the above are those like Deuce, Jack, Ace, Sebek, Lilia, Malleus, Silver, kalim (if kalim finds your killer first, then he will kill them immediately unlike jamil who would draw it out), epel, idia and Rook
All of them would vent their despair on their surroundings, killing swaths of campers and also hunting down any unaffiliated killers due to the association of your death being caused by common no name murderers. Many also become filled with guilt for not being there, anger at their rivals for not being there (and proving they also aren't true in their affection) and starting inter-faction drama.
If it's a camper that killed Earth reader then it's the same reaction but more mass murders and they tend to ignore fellow killers unless they are in the vicinity, in which case those killers become collateral. Since no name murderers are unrelated to your death in this scenario, they aren't actively hunting them down.
Now all this is like before Earth Yuu's ghost is found. Maybe it takes a bit to form a spiritual body, maybe they just didn't notice in their grief driven rampage or whatever but initially the guys don't notice Reader's ghost. BUT!! When folks realize Earth Reader's ghostly form still walks their plane, it kicks off part 2 of the chaos.
Now, horrorland is familiar with ghosts. While many are violent and dangerous, there are just as many that are helpful and can help warn or guide Heroes Survivors and Non-Killers. So again, there's plenty of ghosts and a rather wide range of types and a variety of views on them. It's not unheard of for slashers to lose their prey because of a helpful ghost and it's not uncommon for a ghost to be the cause of a non killers demise. Since everyone is aware of ghosts to some degree, there's also a wide variety of ways in dealing with them and interacting with them- with many being based on horror movie tropes. Ghosts can be captured into objects or tethered to items to carry and use (either as guides or for rituals), and ghosts can also be interacted with or even chained down with blessed items or magic items. Many many ways to capture or interact with ghosts, some ppl even attach them to their own soul for certain rituals or as a way to lock the ghost away. All of these methods that can be used on a darling beloved ghost, a loved one that's passed on ... Once the Horrorland Guys find out that their darling is still accessible to them, even if they're a ghost, then it becomes a race to be the one to have them whether catching ghost yuu into an item to keep safe, tying their souls together, tethering them to their side.
The thing is that due to the sudden terror that they had lost you forever, plus the guilt of not being at your side and thus losing you plus the fact all these emotions are very raw and very recent, they are going to be desperate to "correct" their past behavior and habits. They will not be giving you any breathing room ever now, they lost you the moment you had alone time, plus clearly you can't be trusted to take care of yourself so you have to be by their side for your own good as well. Their paranoia that others may take you away from them has also low-key been confirmed because someone did take you away (by killing you) and now they're all terrified you can be taken away from them again either physically, romantically or some other way. Basically you have hyper desperate yanderes who now have a darling who can be easily taken into an item and carried around in whatever haunted jewel or artefact they deam worthy of you.
Becoming a ghost doesn't give Earth Yuu any freedom, if anything it makes it even easier to simply be taken away since they can now get captured into a cursed artefact like using a pokeball to catch a Pokemon.
Some are more partial to cursed jewelry or transportable accessories that can capture spirits.
-vil, cater, Lilia, silver, kalim, jamil, Azul
Vil would love it if he could not only have you near at all times but also quite literally have you as his precious gem. Pairing the jewel that keeps your spirit tethered to him with various outfits and such. He likes chokers lately, because he can feel your presence and heart directly at his neck and above his heart. A constant reminder of you, that you're safe, that you are by his side and won't (can't) leave him
Cater just loves that you are always together now, always there to listen to and talk to, always there and never going to (never able to) abandon him. Your spirit is tethered to an enchanted woven ribbon, one he uses for many things. From his hair, to his bracelet, to a choker.
Lilia keeps your ghost tied to an earring he never takes off. It's close to him and he can always sense your presence, feel your pulse by his ear. It also serves as an assurance, you can't be taken from him if you are by his ear. No one would be able to sneak up to you, not with you so close to his watchful eyes and keen ears. If someone were to take the earring you now haunt, they'd have to take his head with it.
Silver keeps you as a choker, locked around his neck. It's his reminder that he is your knight, your guard, your protector, your loyal companion (your loyal dog). His reasoning for a choker at his throat is similar to Lilia's, it is a way to always be keenly aware of your presence and there's no possibility of someone sneaking up on you.
Kalim has always been fond of jewels and treasures and it is only fitting that his most treasured person-now ghost- also becomes his most precious gem. He keeps your spirit trapped in a ring, where he can always have you at hand and always admire you on his fingers. He tends to fidget with the ring, rubbing his thumb over it, enjoying the constant reminder that you are tied to him and aren't going to leave (you can't leave now) and that no harm can come to you. He wears the haunted ring on his wedding finger. In kalim's mind you are married to him now since he has given you a ring that he now wears so like you basically totally exchanged rings plus you now live with him like a couple and you two will spend the rest of your lives together. So to him, you're totally married together now :D (Nevermind that the ring is what keeps your spirit close to him, you never actually gave him a ring and the whole being dead thing, y'know captured ghost kept on his hand).
Honestly jamil and azul have similar reasons to keep you as a bejeweled earring and it's that A) looks stunning which is what you deserve and B) you're close by and no one can steal you when you're so close to his face. They both have a habit of caressing the earring they keep you in. It's not enough to feel your presence and ghostly heart beat, they take comfort in caressing the warm haunted accessory because it's a reminder that you are by their side. You can't leave them, you're theirs now.
Ghosts in Horrorland can be trapped into objects and containers. This group uses this method because they don't trust themselves not to get into trouble and it would be far easier to tend to you and keep you safe if you can't leave but can be kept hidden and safe.
-Jade, Ruggie, Deuce, Ace, Riddle, Sebek, trey, Jack
Jade keeps your ghost in a cursed terrarium he guards jealously and viciously. You will be taken care of, your spirit tended to lovingly, you will never be harmed again. It soothes him, to have a personal hand in your care, to be wholly relied on. Your comfort, your pain, your joy, your boredom, all of it lies in his hands. It also assuages his guilt, guilt that you ever came to harm in the first place, guilt that his mate ever died at all. His precious darling... He keeps your spirit tethered to this terrarium and tends to it in a manner reminiscent of worship, this isn't like you had some simple trip or mistake that he can tease you for nor a prank from him. You died, you could have been lost to the afterlife forever if he hadn't found your ghost roaming the grounds in time. Jade shudders at the idea of such a permanent loss, clearly he must adapt his habits and methods to ensure nothing like it happens again
-Ruggie knows full well that there are many with more resources, more power, more influence than him. He cannot guarantee that he would be able to keep an item on hand safe and protected with only his own strength and speed. No, he relies on cunning and strategy. He knows how to hide his kills, hide extra food and sneak around. He captures your spirit into a simple cursed box, something easy to overlook. He tends to it carefully, you will not be slighted after all, and he makes sure it's always hidden and never in the same place twice in a row. He truly believes he's the only one that can properly take care of you, the way he sees it the others let you die even with all their power and research. He used to stay back, be more wary and be more sneaky about taking up your time, certain that the others would lash out at him if they knew he was taking up your attention but part of the reason he wasn't too worried about staying back was also that he knew the others could pamper you and guard you in ways he simply couldn't. But now? Now he sees that they truly truly don't deserve you. You're dead now because of their complacency, their spoiled nature that didn't know how to appreciate what they had. He will keep your ghost safe, keep you to himself. And little ol Ruggie will finally have something and someone all to himself.
-Ace, Deuce, Jack, and Sebek are heartbroken and furious about your circumstances. In their eyes, it is the fault of not just themselves but also the others for not protecting you properly and for becoming blinded with fighting amongst themselves to the point of losing you. They become more united in their misery and resolve to do better by keeping your spirit tethered to a sturdy chest. They take turns guarding and sharing your presence and attention. They do bicker slightly, they are yanderes with extreme jealousy and possessive natures but they remember the bone deep ache of despair when they thought you were lost to the afterlife forever. Remembering all the times you were unattended due to bickering higher ranking killers, time that should have been spent focusing on you. It's clear that a United front was needed to keep you safer. They are used to having to hang out and are the closest to each other of the Horrorland cast. You will never be taken from them, not if they are all there. They are not as strong as the high ranking killers of NRC camp but together they can certainly fend off and out maneuver most.
-similar to the above, trey believes it was the fact ppl didn't pay enough attention and didn't stay by your side as much as they needed to but unlike the above he simply can't wrangle them all into doing better. So rather than attempt to bring it up and have to deal with conflict he just captures your spirit into a jar that he keeps nearby when cooking. He loves it, he can tend to you, give you offerings to eat (like leaving food at memorials to feed the dead) and protect you.
-Riddle literally just tethers your soul into his roses. You can always be together and participate in his activities now. His darling rose.
Ghosts can be taken into the body in an attempt to become more powerful with a merged soul, can be induced into possessing a body for rituals, or forcefully taken into a body to be captured or exorcised etc. This group does this because they don't even want to entertain anything so half-hearted as simply having an object take you. No, the safest and surest thing to never be apart is to fuse you to themselves. They will never suffer losing you again in any manner.
-Malleus, Idia, Rook, Floyd, Epel
Malleus does this because why the hell would he do something as half assed and impermanent as capture your soul into an item when he can tie you to his very own soul, you will become one in the truest sense. There will never be worry about losing you because you cannot be lost unless he dies. Together forever in the truest sense.
Idia has gone through it all. Losing a brother and bringing him back from the dead, dealing with death, and now this terrible terrible reliving of losing a loved one. While yes he could make a body to possess, so you can run and play and still experience the world, he is too shaken by the fact he almost lost you forever. The fact he could suffer such a great loss yet again had made him paranoid that even if he did bring you back like how he Frankenstein'd Ortho, you might still get taken from him. If he can suffer loss of a loved one more than once then what's stopping him from suffering endless losses. No. He cannot abide this. So in fear of every having to lose you again he would merge your soul to him, bind your spirit to his very being
Rook as well, can't abide by such a loss again and also would never do something without full passion. Merging your spirit to him is the ultimate act of romance, of protection and beauty. Truly becoming one. His fear of loss, guilt at not being able to protect you, and genuine belief he didn't do enough and that he should've been there, should have never left your side drive him to tether you to his own soul in the belief this is the only true way to prove his devotion, his genuine feelings, and how to keep you safe at his side
Floyd and epel are doing this for the same reason as rook but also because they're both hot headed, passionate and impulsive and going immediately to dramatic drastic measures fits them. Why mess around with artefacts and objects when they can just use themselves and do everything themselves.
I like to think that the world in your horrorland AU realy wants and realy is trying hard to turn Yuu/MC Into some freaky psycodelic extra-dimensional horror creature but It can't, or It can but the effects are very slow and barely noticible, but If It does happen i beg you for the characters reaction
Oh this is peak ideas here fr because i LOVE the idea of a world changing someone over time, it's just really fun stuff to play with
So this is for those that are new to the idea but twisted horrorland is basically a world that runs on horror movie tropes, to the point that horror movie cliches can spontaneously spawn in killers and supernatural phenomena. Everyone naturally looks like they belong on a horror movie set, washed out and faded and kinda greyed (very tim Burton looks and nightmare before Christmas filter vibes). Earth humans in comparison look insanely colorful and bright, almost oversaturated and like there's a filter on them. Horrorland denizens also do not have iron based blood and have blot based blood instead so it's darker, thicker and doesn't dry the same way. They also are much cooler in comparison to earth humans. Earth humans are also not subject to the rules of the world so they don't spawn horror tropes. So reader/earth yuu is incredibly warm, incredibly vibrant and doesn't trip up plot devices.
However, this ask is very fun and brings up a fun potential. Horrorland very much does want to assimilate Earth Yuu into the setting, the same way a solution may try to absorb and diffuse an added ingredient to maintain equilibrium, however it's likely having trouble doing so. Perhaps it is doing so very slowly, trying to fit in Earth Yuu into one of the many many tropes of the world. Yuu is an otherworldly entity and there are plenty of eldritch tropes to fit that. Horrorland probably tries to induce this change by having the energy that facilitates the trope phenomenon of the world be attracted to Earth Yuu, so earth yuu tends to have extra supernatural horrorland energy around them attempting to change them.
Perhaps their eyes begin to change, glowing at times or the pupil splitting every so often and then reforming
Perhaps their vibrancy actually glows at times
Perhaps states of extreme emotion induce momentary bodily changes
All very fun stuff
Honestly, the characters- especially the slashers - don't mind this at all. It's not that uncommon for people to go from neutrals or victims to slashers if they exhibit the right behaviors and actions- after all the world is run on tropes so if you act out certain cliches and foreshadowing circumstances you can be taken over by killer urges. They would think that perhaps yuu is finally showing their true colors, and my what a gorgeously colorful beast they're becoming
They'd just get really invested and probably unlock new kinks depending on how toothy and inhuman earth yuu becomes.
I really love your horrorland au! Are there any worlds based on genres? If there are, I imagined a reader from actionland, every car they drove is like the ones in Fast and Furious or has an unlimited bullet gun because they are from actionland or completely animated like Roger rabitesque/loony toons type of thing.

Honestly, considering the power scale, constitution, hardiness and sheer power of your average action character- hell even a random side character in an action movie- an action reader would give every horrorland denizen hell.
Action movies are made to give fight scenes that last, with people able to shrug off car crashes, falling out of buildings and flying through glass and jumping out of moving vehicles with little more than a scrape or superficial cuts. They also all have some fighting capability. Even a random side character or NPC can throw a punch or pick up a make shift weapon to attempt to fend off someone else- usually for bar fight scenes or street fights. Action movie characters of all kinds are able to put up a fight and are hardy enough to last pretty long to make it a good fight. Every bullet from an action movie can cause an explosion and every knife aims true and is sharp as hell. Actionland would embody this and so yes ever car they drive can do impossible fast and furious tricks that would total any other car, every gun in their grasp gets the Actionland attribute with unlimited bullets and excellent aim.
Truly, Actionland reader would reign supreme in Twisted Horrorland simply because an action hero is made to kill and outlast their antagonists and do so with flair. There are plenty of NRC horror killer guys who would be both intimidated and incredibly exhilarated by this type of person. I imagine several like Jade, Rook, Ace, Lilia and Cater would be the type to playfully goad Action Reader into hunting them down. All are incredibly surprised when Action Reader is able to corner and pin them down and all are incredibly turned on by the circumstances (watching their beloved run them down so determinedly and so fiercely has their heart racing, the show of strength and prowess sending their blood rushing south, lightheaded with the knowledge that in that moment they are all that their beloved is focusing on, perhaps being prey for their beloved isn't so bad 😋✨)
I feel like there's multiple genre universes of wonderland. There's of course, Horrorland, then there's Actionland, there's Otomeland, and a few others likely based on sci-fi and fantasy and some other series too
I'll have to think on it but that's very very fun
Oh and of course those genre universes of wonderland will probably be yandere but y'know, I'm open to non yandere versions of stuff for twst
Thinking about a theory that i might turn into a headcanon
So like
Here's the Goof theory for twst so far but like my brain is tired so Imma do it in this format
-the guys are kinda prudish about stuff, not completely but fairly prudish. They're weird about physical touch, weird about compliments, seem to heavily prefer being covered especially on land
-again minimal physical affection (it seems to only get a pass if it's to antagonize another even though many are canonically touch starved and affection starved), minimal skin showing to the point that even in Leona's area where it's hot and dressing a little lighter to help with heat would make sense the most that was skin showing was the sports cloud calling uniform which was like workout clothes level revealing. So like a lot of the place is oddly prudish and reserved about physical affection, showing skin and compliments
-a fair majority of the wonderland world population is likely quite sensitive to smells in others and that being indicative of their mood and stuff. The most obvious ones that would be nose sensitive are beastfolk, fae, and hybrids as all have very sensitive noses vs twst humans -though twst humans are likely not purely human. I say that twst humans are not purely human because i refuse to believe that mass populations of intermingling species that are capable of interbreeding that also live in the same neighborhoods would be truly homogeneous just cause of time and mixing. Like no way. You're telling me that like almost no humans was fucking beastfolk, mers or fae over those centuries? Thousands of years? Please. I'm not saying every twst human is 50/50 mix of different species but like I'm certain folks got cousins and uncles and aunts of different species (fae, mer, beastfolk) just cause ain't no way such close knit communities living together and growing together aren't eventually getting together every so often at some level.
-i bet because everyone probably grows around these communities, grew up with someone non human or even has cousins who are non human then i bet some of it kinda seeps into twst human traditions too. There's no way with how all the species live together in the same neighborhood that they don't mix traditions and behaviors especially not when they've all been apparently living in mixed communities for several centuries if not thousands of years. Their products and traditions will reflect this mixing of cultures and species so there's no way there aren't traditions and products that reflect accommodating their sensitive nosed neighbors.
-long story short, twst folk likely got sensitive noses and most of the population (certain fae, certain beastfolk, certain mers) definitely have an extremely perceptive sense of smell though likely even twst humans are more attuned to scents than your average earth human just cause of having nonhumans in the family tree throughout time
-the thing is that all living things and even inanimate things give a scent. Organic things are way more likely to give off smells not just cause they're essentially moist gas emitting ongoing biochemical reactions but also creatures give off smells specifically to signal moods and changes and also just cause the body will produce a different smell in response to changes. So like sometimes it's a purposeful event and other times it's a side effect
-smells that are fairly easy to detect even to earth humans are sweat and musk. To the point that in most crowded places and when visiting most homes, you know it will have a certain smell and just accept that while doing your best to not bother others. Throughout time Most folks just did their best with hygiene and deodorizing products (seeking nice smells and putting on nice smells has been an ancient phenomenon)
-this also relates to twst. Twst is extremely on top of hygiene and wearing good quality cologne/perfume and products to the point that all the boys will wear makeup, perfume/cologne, and all seem to have some level of regular hygiene routine.
-But i think the thing is that the reason all the species and all the genders in twst are commonly expected maintain hygiene upkeep that includes light cologne/scents and covering up especially in areas like the campuses, the cities, the palaces and other places that are densely populated might be because of how most of the population has very sensitive noses and how they're all gonna be in each other's spaces
-again, sweat and musk are some of the easiest smells to be identified. It is also inevitable that in all places especially in crowded spaces, in cities or in densely populated areas that one will deal with smells just cause there's bodies and there's stuff there.
-for earth humans, it's not a huge deal per se. Deodorant or some mildly nice scent and washing up go a long long way
-however, for twst species, this is a different thing all together.
-reading smut and being frisky is much easier to get away with in human earth society just cause humans can't smell someone getting horny and as long as you're not like leaking no one cares
-even in Earth society, overly strong pungent smells from the body or from unpleasant products can make others uncomfortable
-this is also true in wonderland (something many complain about in crewels class)
- Certainly There's always gonna be a smell in places just cause there's folks existing around each other and there's items that will give off a smell by virtue of existing. So when there's so much going on in such a relatively small area one just does their best or at least that's the attitude i imagine. And while one might argue that one gets used to it entirely, there's a level of pungency i doubt one truly gets used to. Get acclimated and tolerate some maybe, but not unaware of and not like blind to. That's like trying to get used to the scent of hot asphalt roads, trash, bleach, crowded buses and car fumes. You tolerate it or can learn to try to ignore it cause it's common and you can't do much about it but you know it's there and it's not pleasant.
-Like going on the bus or train? It's gonna have a smell, especially in summer. At that point all one can do is do their part to minimize offensive scents and hope the shower and whatever one put on that day holds out.
-And one just accepts that but does the best one can do. Plus i imagine one most deal with a lot. Not just perfumes and other people's smells but environmental things in rooms or daily tasks like The lab ingredients and products in school labs, The cleaning materials in different areas, the multitudes of scents from vehicles, strangers, foods, roads, trash and more. The regular smell of crowds and bodies and All that comes with (trash, vehicles, foods, chemicals used in upkeep of the facility). There's gonna be a lot one will have to deal with. And initially one might think that adding a perfume, even one that was made with the society in mind and is likely more gentle. HOWEVER, i think that the twst expectations for hygiene, for covering up, for putting on scents, is an attempt to accommodate strangers.
-think of it like this Deodorizer and common body soap is likely the least of the sensitive nosed population's scented problems when they likely have to deal with the smell of cleaning products like bleach, ammonia, and cleaning acids; with the bathroom scents of crap, piss and more; deal with asphalt, road and car exhaust; trash in dumps and in bins; kitchen smells like spices grease and whatever falls behind the oven or fridge; deal with random strangers body odors from armpit smells to crotch smells to foot smells; and other stuff they might work with like lab ingredients or plant fertilizer. Again, there's a million scents they're already dealing with and that likely feel invasive when coming from a stranger especially considering dealing with a dose of even one stranger's body order while just trying to go on the daily commute is annoying even without having a super sniffer nevermind having a super sniffer that can get assaulted with 20 different strangers. -If anything, minimizing scents or putting on an inoffensive scent for the sake of strangers and people who one is not familiar with is likely courteous for most species in wonderland (fae, beastfolk, mers and hybrids or sensitive humans) especially in places like cities, campuses and other densely populated areas or intermixed communities. This likely changes with those one is close to since instead of an invasive smell from random strangers and random bullshit it's someone familiar and safe.
-this plays into why hygiene and good quality (quality as in long lasting or non irritating) light cologne are a big thing in twst, for the comfort of others especially with sensitive noses
-adding to the reason i think prudishness is surprisingly common in twst is again that scent is so easily detected by most of the population (from fae, to beastfolk to hybrids and sensitive nosed humans). Like reading smut or getting horny in daydreams is probably way more noticeable in wonderland by way more people specifically because of the shift in scent, sweat and musk and thus more likely to cause problems or be called out on. Hence why they're all weird about physical affection and touch. Growing in communities that might have worried about getting too worked up and thus being a sensory scent based disturbance to a stranger might have also lead to people being especially mindful of touch and being affectionate in public spaces. Prudishness in twst probably went up more so since covering up helps lock in scent and i imagine that the worry of trying to avoid getting scent on others meant trying to avoid touch with strangers added to this.

Hence, again, the oddly prudish dress (covering up), the extensive expectations of hygiene, makeup, and cologne as well as for most keeping to their space unless they're particularly close or purposely trying to be antagonistic with those they don't know as well by invading their space.
-One of the canon reasons rook and others wear gloves constantly is genuinely to avoid leaving scent through touch actually. (Rook especially does this, noted in the twst concept book and- i think- in vignettes) So again, the twst expectations of covering up, to put on some type of scent and for everyone to have a hygiene routine of some type is to avoid leaving scent or to minimize scent. My theory, that i will likely turn into a headcanon, is that it's also to accommodate the many many sensitive nosed species that make up the majority of wonderland (mers, beastfolk, fae, hybrids and even sensitive nosed humans).
-Like all of society probably has to deal with this on some level and the attitude is likely something along the lines of: "Look people will have a scent but just keep it to a minimum somehow for the sake of others pls, i don't wanna smell a spike in musk when a random stranger gets horny reading their fanfic or book while trying to ignore the smell of the bus fuel and the 20 other people on the bus". Like for those with sensitive noses i imagine they'd prefer if people wore something to manage smells to the best of their ability just cause they don't wanna deal with getting a smelly update of a random stranger(s) feelings or a dose of crotch in the air from a rando who got a little too hot for their story or show.
-Of course, the entire twst society likely does deal with this and thus is likely familiar with this. They're aware of it. Thus the products they make and sell are likely made with this in mind. Since many folks prefer quality scents (perfumes, colognes, deodorizers etc) but like something not too strong to be mindful others. I'm certain there's lots of stuff that comes with gentle scents or that are unscented but minimize scent (scent neutralizers) in addition to things with varying scent strengths for different bodies. Since it would be a widely known social phenomenon and expectation, one that would influence supply and demand and thus what type of products would be available, there's likely Some type of standard for products so they are not hyper overwhelming since most of the population already has to deal with like 10 million body odors from random strangers and the scent of their environments so twst folks likely don't have to deal with overly cruddy body sprays.
-personal theory, and likely will turn into headcanon, that all of these behaviors and social traditions for minimizing scents around strangers, not necessarily around those one is familiar with mind you but strangers specifically might be why twst is kinda prudish with touch, covers up a lot, is really big on hygiene routines for everyone and quality light cologne.
-perhaps over time, especially in cities with less room and more people mixing, twst societies kinda got fussy about knowing too much about others and being affectionate or not wearing enough. Like if attempting to minimize disturbing your neighbors spiraled into being really weird about physical affection even while yearning for it and also getting weird about space (to the point that inviting another into your space seems to hold more weight and purposely invading anothers space likely has layers to it's hostility and invasiveness)

Knowing someone trusts you in twst not just because they let you come near but because they let you touch their stuff, let you into their rooms, and exchange favorite scents. Since space and not invading anothers scent is a big thing with this headcanon this is a big step because it's a sensory indicator that they want you in their life and to be intermingled into their day and space
Being invited into close spaces and making sure you have proper attire and such has much more weight in importance because this is a big sign of letting you into their lives and also that you are a safe space or that they're willing to let you be a part of their space
Showing more skin and more relaxed wear near you
Getting jealous or protective when another has gotten their scent on you especially if they know the other didn't ask and you didn't invite the other party to do so. Especially since in this headcanon scent is not really even about marking but also can be considered an invasion of space, an intrusion from someone inconsiderate at best or outright antagonistic at worst (think of how canon floyd gets into others space specifically to aggravate others and to get a reaction and not using their names because he doesn't respect them versus being willing to give the appropriate space with those he cares about like Azul and his brother and only using their actual names or how canon Leona does the same with those he doesn't really respect or think much of). In this headcanon both would become much more upset at others invading your space without permission and make sure to provide you with stuff to make sure you don't run into trouble by leaving scents where you're not supposed to and show that they do accept you by letting you share stuff.

Also they see the top scars by accident more or less cause i didn't really know what circumstances reader would be topless in unless they were changing, at the pool, or purposely taking the shirt off to show one of them so just chose the route that i thought would be funny or make more sense
Idk what to tag as a warning or heads up since this will be one of the lighter posts with minimal violence, smut or angst cause they're already pretty accepting of gender expression in canon main story (gestures at how no one really blinks an eye at the guys wearing makeup and heels plus how Japanese server and English server both tend to have them flirt with each other-though Japanese twst is more upfront with it) and they're also yan so literally obsessed with you to the point of insanity, plus there's no extra parties involved so no violent jealousy (might make that a different post if i have the energy, yans and top surgery reader at the pool or something)

Okay I'm probably just gonna use the same setting for everyone to make things easier on myself (or else the post will just take longer to make and might run out of energy part way and someone's fave gets snubbed by accident) and the scenario chosen is locker room/gym changing just cause it's a setting where it's expected to change, to get undressed, to shower and have people in various states of undress. Everyone in NRC has some gym or Physical Education class and so the likelihood of them seeing top surgery reader without a shirt on or coming across them without a shirt is more likely, plus with gym or locker room settings it is more likely for someone to be willing to barge in or check in on someone, especially if they're familiar with reader or on a time crunch, than if someone was changing in their own personal room. And of course, it's yanderes so they are taking nearly every opportunity to get close or be affectionate etc and there's plenty of added opportunity to be pushy or touchy in a gym or locker room setting with plenty of excuses (from spotting a partner, checking a changing room, checking the showers for a free space, helping a gym partner etc)

Ngl this entire dorm happens to be one of the ones with more sensible shyer types. Not that they aren't capable of being at least a little sly (even deuce will do something that's against the rules or that's not the smartest thing to do if he thinks it's worth it, not saying he's subtle but he'll lean into his personal wants and needs). They're just not as upfront as some of the other dorms with the only exception being Ace but even he's not as direct as say Sebek. Since they're a touch shyer and less upfront i mainly see them "accidentally"- either they can't help but glance over or were over enthusiastic and barged in- seeing the scars
Riddle
Ngl i see him being really really good about not looking over, even as a yandere, and he kinda just takes on guard duty if there are other guys there. He's cordoned off the area so it's just you and him for maximum privacy, at least as much as one can get in a gym shower locker room area. Unless you ask him to look over or ask him to pass something to you, Yandere Riddle is doing his best to respect propriety while making sure no one looks. No no he doesn't glance over and, unless you invite him into the changing room to show him your top scars, he's not gonna purposely barge in. What happens is that Riddle accidentally came in, perhaps a changing room was unlocked maybe he was feeling a little pressed for time and thus a little impatient, and so this is how he comes upon the sight of you topless and sees your top scars.
Now Riddle does have a fair amount of know-how of medical knowledge and history knowledge so i think he'd have an inkling of what top scars are even if norm for Wonderland is magic surgeries.
Now, he doesn't mind the implications or background of who you are AT ALL. He's already accepted that his love is from another world entirely and is unfamiliar with wonderland, he's not gonna be troubled by gender of all things considering the possible differences between entire worlds. No, if anything he keeps this knowledge in mind to better take care of you and help you out (in hopes it will bring him closer to you but also out of care). He knows scarring can often be more sensitive and prone to drying out which can cause discomfort regardless of how old those scars are and will attempt to bring you things that may help with that.
Generally pretty chill but flustered about seeing you topless and also hyper vigilant about others seeing you indecent (doesn't matter if you're transmasc or non binary etc, he's a jealous petty yandere dude with a crush, he doesn't want others being privy to you)
You can invite him to help you put on the moisturizers and special scar maintenance ointments and he will be flustered but thrilled (he's taking care of his partner!!! He's doing good!! This man once called a wedding veil a kitchen doily and only just barely knows how to interact with his peers let alone tackling anything outside of cis binary gender stuff so, i think he knows fuck all about gender medical procedures and such. HOWEVER, he is very open minded and tends to adjust behavior and his approach for each individual he knows plus he IS very smart and quick on the uptake so he will be able to understand if you explain.
He grew up with several siblings and chenya who tends to just pop in too so personally i think he's kinda used to just barging in nonchalantly to get something, usually with the mindset that it's chill and he's so used to siblings and friends popping in without asking that he kinda just does that as default. He probably needed to change out of PE clothes and just automatically opened up a room that happened to have you in it.
Ngl he sees the scars and is immediately Concerned (he don't know gender medical stuff). Also i feel like he's such a caretaker type that genuinely his first instinct is to check in like you got stab scars and not top scars. Gender doesn't matter to him though the knowledge you have top scars that you might need help taking care of kinda gives yandere Trey an excuse to fuss over you more and get closer to take care of you. Unlike Riddle and others as well, he's not as held back by shyness and tsundere behaviors so he's far more willing to help with any scar upkeep like moisturizing to keep it from drying, massaging to help with any scar discomfort and sunscreen. He's trying to wedge himself into your life and be irreplaceable.

This guy is a chronically online bisexual who likes to deep dive gossip and discourse in my mind, he's very very aware of old style non magic history and twisted wonderland queer history but only through the lense of random online posts and deep dives into varying discourse threads. So like, he's aware of non magical top scarring from history but lots of his knowledge comes from stuff he's seen in posts and videos so he'll whip out hyper specific micro labels that are super specific to Wonderland and niche communities as well.
Ngl he barges in on purpose because he wants to be your buddy that never leaves your side ever, and yes that does mean he wants to be your restroom buddy to tag along when you go out of the class etc, and he also wants to make himself an unshakable part of your day to day so he takes every opportunity to be close to you. I will say that he does momentarily pause when he sees the scars before mentally cataloguing the information for later. Even as a yandere obsessed with you, cater doesn't want to make you feel uncomfortable with anything overly serious (identity and surgery are certainly topics he'd think are serious) or bring attention to obvious things- he doesn't wanna scare you off as he knows his feelings and obsession is intense but he still wants to get close regardless- so he's gonna ask to confirm later but at the moment he's just gonna help you get changed and fuss over you like everything is fine and normal and Cater didn't just barge in while you were changing. No he's not gonna leave either, he just goes woops teehee and then continues trying to stick to your side like glue. Ngl Cater's entire attitude is a mix between "who cares we're just bros" and "kiss your home goodnight and help your homies change", so very affectionate and touchy while trying to get close and pretend everything is very normal with his approach and closeness. Ngl but this dingus barges in on you at the locker room intentionally but unlike Cater who's doing it with a genuine plan to get closer, Ace is just impatient and likes to bother you and rush you because his love language is bullying and teasing. Also Ace and deuce consider themselves as your go-to ride or die friends, the MOST important people in your life. So Ace especially thinks he's entitled to being close to you and being nosy about your privacy. You're not allowed to have secrets with him, he needs to know everything
Honestly i don't think he's aware of top surgeries like at all, mostly because i don't think it would fall into his scope of interest. Guy barely does research for classes he's in and barely puts in effort for stuff he's actually graded on and both of these have a personal effect on him, so he's not looking up something he feels has no relation to him unless he thinks it's important or will be helpful to him personally. So when he sees your top scars, his first assumption is something happened to you. He's on god catastrophizing. He suddenly remembers he doesn't know much of anything about your past and that you aren't from Wonderland and immediately wonders if it was injury, attack or illness that caused this. He's got a million questions and he will be asking because despite all his bullshitting and big talk, he cares hella and he's obsessed with you so he's checking in.
Once he finds out it's not something crazy he calms down. He doesn't care about Gender and to him nothing changes cause you're still you. I will say that the realization that he doesn't know your background and past and that there might be more that he doesn't know (that can bring him closer and give him an edge over rivals) makes him even more keen to get closer and to be nosy. Ace becomes more annoying about being close to you, asking you about your past and overall just tend to know all that he can about you.

Like Ace he barges in but it's genuinely an accident in the sense that he doesn't think and wanted to check in with you and ended up opening the door to see you because he's on autopilot. He needs to check in on you and see you (he cares and is obsessed but also it means his body moves before his brain cells can catch up). He genuinely didn't fully mean to, he just wanted to check in and he's your best friend, shouldn't friends check in on each other? But Oh! You're half naked!! Oh no?? 🫣 (>\\\\\<) And at first he's flustered about seeing you topless (doesn't actually stop him from staring) , he really didn't mean to do that! He's kinda trying to make sure no one else can peak in (doesn't matter your gender, his love is getting changed and he'll be damned if someone peeks in on his darling) but then he catches sight of your top scars and freezes as his mind speeds through possible incidents that could have caused this.
He's not the brightest and isn't the best about doing research on his own, he knows nothing about gender affirming medical procedures from wonderland nevermind rarer more archaic non magical ones so he doesn't know what top scars are and, with his background as a delinquent, his first assumption is that you got into a knife fight and lost. And he gets super upset at the idea that you were hurt (you weren't, it's from surgery, a voluntary gender affirming surgery) and he genuinely gets super serious like "who did this to you? Who hurt you? I'll kill them" and it would be so serious and crazy if it wasn't for the fact it was benign top surgeries and the contrast between his serious demeanor over something with such benign harmless causes is hilarious
You'll have to explain to him before he starts plotting murder on innocent surgeons that aren't even in wonderland. Once you explain what top scars are he chills out and is just deeply curious. He's still operating on what he knows about injuries and scars though so he will probably do his own research later but he will kinda take it onto himself to help you with scar maintenance (regardless of if you need it). He IS a yandere who wants to be an irreplaceable aspect of your life and he's not gonna turn down an opportunity to take care of you. Of course, it's deuce. This guy is a man who purposely dresses in a gender conforming manner to break down gender expectations, outright states that nothing should be gendered and stomps out toxic gender stereotypes if someone brings em up. He's also smart and keeps up with history both magical and nonmagical, so he's aware of what top scars may look like through knowing wonderland gender history before magic methods were around.
Ngl i feel like while yandere Vil wouldn't barge in or take glances in a locker room setting. No no he's going beyond that and he's taken it upon himself to help you dress and to help you pick things out to wear- he's very hands on for the sake of helping someone who might be unfamiliar with wonderland garb (excuses, he's trying to grow closer to you and get his physical affection in and the knowledge that your wearing his style on your body gives him such satisfaction, he loves that he can caress and touch in the name of helping you and that everyone can see that it's HIM that you trust to touch and tend to you in the locker room). He probably saw the top scars when he took it upon himself to pick out proper gym clothes that actually fit you and help you into them. He likely paused at first just cause he's used to magic methods that don't leave scars or leave magic traces but he does know of older non magical methods and knows you're from another world so he connects the dots from there. When he measures you to make your clothes, he will take care to pay attention to the state of your scars- cool smooth fingers trailing across your chest as he takes measurements for other outfits and when helping you get in the gym jumper for PE (it drives him insane to feel each stretch mark and scar and mole, he yearns to leave more of a mark- to kiss and to grip- but it's not time yet and he has to play the long game but it's enough for now to know others see that you let him be so near and so close). Vil is a caretaker type of yandere and will be taking it upon himself to help with your scar maintenance but unlike others who will buy something off the shelves, he'll be personally making moisturizers and scar care things to minimize discomfort and maintain healthy scars. He doesn't see the scars as ugly or something that detracts from your appearance, rather they're a testament to how far you've come and they're a part of you BUT because they're a symbol of your journey and a part of you, he actually is extra attentive in giving you help with skin care and scar care. (He's also using this as an opportunity to show you how well he can take care of you, how attentive of a lover he could be, showing you how reliable he is and getting in his affection with you while trying to get closer to you). He'll personally apply the ointments in the beginning and insist he continue doing so when he can though if you decide you want to do it on your own he'll let you (he wants to take those opportunities to ingrain himself into your life and feel you, be closer to you and will low-key be annoyed that you deny him the opportunity to care for you). Vil will check in after to see if you applied it right (yandere ass)
He doesn't mind top scars, if anything he views it as a beautiful testament to your journey to being your ideal self and he thinks this is lovely. Of course, he's a yandere. He'll personally formulate moisturizers, scar care routines, and pick out day to day fits to match your gender expression. Listen if this guy could sew himself into your shadow he would, so he's absolutely including himself into your routine or at bare minimum is tagging along with you in the background (stalking, he's stalking you). He's also very smart, very curious, very indepth in his research and in his pursuit of knowledge so i feel like the moment he perceived gender in life he did his research into it and considering this guy is in science club and has submitted papers on literally anything from scuba diving for sea research to potion research and has studied how to make gems for making statues, he's absolutely covering his basis on most things about gender and gender affirming stuff. He knows about non magical top scars and while the normal go to method in wonderland is to use magic, he is aware of some older non magical methods of wonderland throughout history before magic methods were developed.
He genuinely feels like your top scars are a testament to your growth as an individual, a step further in the realization of yourself and applauds you for it. He's fully gonna make a literal poem about how beautiful and wonderful it is that you have gone through such lengths to become your most idealized self and will probably clap and get teary eyed about it before asking you a million questions about how you care for your scars and what they feel like. He's very curious and loves to see new aspects of yourself. He will offer to help you to keep up with scar maintenance. You can turn him down and he'll lament but say it's your choice. Considering his background and what he's familiar with, his initial assumption upon seeing scars on your chest when he barged in on you is that you survived an attempt on your life.
Due to his past (trauma sunshine yandere is so full of trauma) he doesn't even have time to be flustered about your half naked state because he's fixated on the fact the light of his life might have been brutally attacked at one point and that he could have lost you forever. Fully just thinking that you got like, stabbed in the chest and you could've died and he's so unwell about this because he's seen many guards, attackers and servants die in brutal ways. Kalim gets swept up in his own mind as it is, yandere Kalim turns that up to an 11 and grabs you and runs to take you to the clinic and immediately wants to call up his doctors to double check everything about you. Yes the scars are old and yes they are simply perfectly benign healthy top scars but what you're dealing with here is a traumatized yandere who's had dealings with magic attacks, poisons and likely cursed weapons and poisoned weapons. Yandere kalim doesn't want to risk any unknown things happening and while he is very happy go lucky when he can be, he is more than aware he can't actually trust everyone- he doesn't eat food that's hasn't been tested, he knows how to identify poisonous plants at a glance, he always tries to travel in groups and he only accepts food that has been handled by someone trustworthy and that's been tested so he's very very aware he can't trust everyone but he's willing to try to give people a chance. His darling yuu is one of the few people he can truly trust since he can't trust many as even his own family have made attempts on his life and even jamil- one of the ones he feels closest to- has betrayed him. Only to find out you had top surgery and had actually hit a wonderful milestone in your gender journey. Lilia was going through the emotional roller coaster fr fr so this reveal is more than welcome. He's gonna congratulate you and kiss your forehead and then leave immediately so he can go recover from his internal emotional whiplash. (Yandere delusional Malleus auto assumes you get undressed in front of him even though it's the damn changing room-you're supposed to get changed at the locker room- is a sign)

-for both angel au's Angels are less of revered divine beings and more so unknowable mysterious giant creatures that are not beholden to mortal society. They are treated like gentle giant wild creatures that can't help their behaviors and while capable of causing trouble, do not mean to and can't help themselves. Basically people view angels in this au like if moose were gentle and docile and were understood to be at least as intelligent as crows so basically all are more than aware that an angel is more than capable of causing damage but that they generally don't mean to. Angels are considered feral the same way cats, dogs, horses and pigeons can be considered feral in that many view angels as populations of creatures that once stood by humans side but feral communities form over time as Angel tending fell in popularity and as angels outlived their humans and with no one to take them in they wandered their surroundings. Angels are intelligent and capable of understanding humans but due to their eldritch differences plus not being able to actually talk in a way humans can understand. To a human, angels just make heraldic trumpet horn noises, bell noises, choir chanting and lyre noises. Angels are also biblically accurate and not always human shaped with many looking eldritch. All are beholden to this au's version of Angel rules, many of which are just creature-ified versions of og stuff
-for this version of the au, angels do view humans as viable mates but humans often view angels as like bizarre non animals that don't die but also don't seem to know how to survive?? Like it's hard to accept that the angel is smart in this au when most people have seen videos of them getting stuck in hampers, staring into lights and stumbling into radio towers. They're majestic looking but get into horse and deer level tomfoolery. It's a case of mistaking a being that's "beyond mortal needs" with creatures that don't know what's going on around them because not needing to pay mind to certain things cause it won't affect them also happens to look like they don't comprehend what's around. Being so beyond mortal things that they pay no heed to things they don't need or don't care about also happens to look like they're a head empty no thoughts creature.
