I was talking to a Cap and a John about rping recently, but they’re not in my outbox anymore and I can’t remember who they were and I’m not sure if its my lack of ideas or my sporadic time online or my seeming lack of enthusiasm for it (because I really want it, I just don’t know how to do it) or something unrelated to me that stopped the communications...

Send me “You’re okay, it was just a bad dream.” for my characters reaction to waking up from a nightmare in your characters arms.

                                                         Darkness.

              Something squeezing my chest.                                                                        Try to fight against it.                                                   Can’t.         Don’t want to fight it                                                                                                          Why?

                             What is that noise?                                                                                    Soothing.                                                            John.

                Whispering that its okay.

                                                                                       Freeze.

                                   John is here. 

                                                  Why is John here?

       Holding me against his chest

                                                                                  Can smell him all around.

          Smells of sleep, that warm smell that is all John. 

                                                         Relax into his arms.

Heart rate increased.                                                    Dark room.                                                                              Warm John.                                                                                                                Nightmare.

       Must’ve been a bad one if John is down here…

                                                                                      Don’t remember.

           Wish the lingering fear would dissipate as quickly.

"John," voice hoarse.

                                                                                               With sleep?

             More likely screams, got John’s attention.

                                                                           Burrow against his neck.

                            Notice my face is wet.

                                                                                      Don’t remember crying.

         Feel something drip onto my shirt.

                                                       Still crying then.

                                                                       Explains why John is still whispering.

            Can’t make out the words.

                                Realise its my own harsh breaths covering his words.

                                                       Calm down.

John is here now.

    She's been waiting for them to arrive.   The newest body has arrived for her already   and the rest of them are terribly, terribly late.   So instead of waiting for hours, she'd decided   to start the preliminary autopsy, gathering the   victim's fingerprints, photographing bodily evidence   and any bruising and that sort of thing. At least,   until she's interrupted.

         "You're late."

Sherlock didn’t sleep very often but when he did, he slept like the dead. But regardless of how deep his slumber, Sherlock always seemed to be conscious of John Watson.

That’s why, although he didn’t stir at his bedroom door opening and showed no sign of waking as the doctor padded across the room to his bed, he immediately jolted as John’s weight shifted the bed.

"John?" Sherlock mumbled as he ran his hand over his face. He shuffled over to make room for him without thinking.

When John didn’t say anything, Sherlock laid back down and pulled John with him so that they were lying together facing each other. Sherlock wrapped his arms around John and tangled their legs together. He pressed his face into the crook of John’s neck and sighed contentedly as he closed his eyes again.

He couldn’t fall asleep though, until he felt John relax into their embrace. Then he was out like a light once more.
