Everything felt impossibly distant,
except the slow rhythm of chewing,
the salt air, and the sound of the sea
reminding me how far I’d come.
And how nothing here expected anything from me.
I stood there longer than I meant to.
The sea was far, but close —
wrapped in the wind,
spilling into the stillness like a memory.
The cows didn’t care who I was.
The land asked nothing from me.
