Retirement home VS Hotel 🏨
The reality of that should move us all to find a better way to take care of our old. Removing the government from our healthcare would be a large step to living in hotels in end of life versus the garbage they give us.
I see a number of retirement homes/care facilities in my work and the vast majority of them are incredibly depressing. Tiny rooms, dirty spaces, caregivers who don't actually care. Many of the people living here don't have the option to go somewhere else, either due to insurance limitations or because they require the medical provided there. And no one on the outside sees. Sometimes the family is only shown the nice side, sometimes there's no family at all. Child abuse and neglect are talked about a lot. It's time we addressed elder abuse and neglect
I’m so glad my old man made bank and owns the beautiful acreage that he and the fam reside on. My sisters and my brother in law reside there too, I know that as my parents age, there are people there to take care of them. That’s a long way off tho, my parents are strong as oxen.
