more often than not, kaeya had been subject to amber’s ire and indomitable will to do everything as bright and enthusiastically as possible. this involved scoldings when the favonius knights methods to mission completion weren’t exactly ... by the book. anyway, his dismissive and elusive personality had gotten him well acquainted with amber’s nagging tendencies, but her insightfulness ? that might have been something new. there was just something about the people of mondstadt, most were born with the inherent romanticism that flew across the breeze of their tavern song. they had been a nation raised on passionate, free, and idealistic beliefs. was it common to hear that ? that despite how grounding some of these people were, there would always been some part of them that had their head in the clouds, their minds in dreams where fairy tales and stories blended into their every day lives ? it was a nice thought. kaeya raised a brow at the younger knight, looking down at the book in his hand, tasked with bringing the novel to jean as an errand for lisa. he smiled, smug as he tapped the book against her head with a subtle bonk.

‘   you know, outrider, you and jean have a lot in common. maybe you should be her right hand instead of me. i’m sure she’d like a go - getter like you at her side more.   ’

He’s speechless, really. Aether was already a man of few words but Amber had practically taken the rest out from his throat. What was he supposed to say, or do, in response to that?!

He could hear Paimon cooing over his shoulders, and there’s a wave of his hand and her flying on ahead to ‘give them some time alone’. Honestly....Was she trying to act like Lumine? It was so embarrassing.

“I, uh,” He stammers for a moment, a hand going to rub at the back of his head as he tried to think of a proper reply. He didn’t feel right just leaving with a nod like he sometimes did when running errands. No, he was going to go to Liyue Harbor, which was a good few days travel - if not a few weeks.

“This place isn’t my home,” He started with a sheepish smile, “but I’m glad I have somewhere, someone, to return to.” His face flushed and he reached over to brush a lock of Amber’s hair behind her ear. “I’ll be back. Keep Mondstadt safe while I’m gone, okay?”

     ❝  Trust like that will get you killed...  ❞    Xiao isn’t entirely sure why he speaks. Frankly, the friendly nature of the other might be exactly why he finds many mortals foolish. They’re too quick to trust, too quick to welcome someone in who might very well be their end. His words ring out like a warning or perhaps a threat. Though, a threat would imply he felt the other was a danger and his senses told him otherwise. If he hadn’t had control over his bloodlust or had even been a different adeptus, the human might’ve already been dead.

     It seems as though that he caught her at the perfect time! He wasn’t out in the streets performing, and she seems to be not on the job right now. Was he out looking for her? No, not really, but it was a delight to see Outrider while he was out and about.

         ❛ Oh, hey, Amber! Amber is fine, right or should I also be calling you Outrider Amber? But any-who, I heard that you’re the Windglider Champion! Is it true? Maybe I’ll write a song about you. ❜

♕ -  “Name’s Sora! Or you could call me adventurer-- or Traveler if that helps, take ya pick out of ‘em.” He notes with an upbeat tone while catching the fullness of her reaction. It did the heart good to see her get amped up from the magic of a few kind words.

Being met with a return of questioning had prompted him to cross his arms behind his head. A single brow rose while letting his memories recollect. After all, those not-so-nice Hilichurls were awfully adamant in trying to rattle his brain around.

That and try snagging his necklace that was a touch too shiny for their attention spans.

“Lesse! The big guild place everyone been talkin’ about as of late. One for adventurer’s all around? I’ve been in the zone to help out a little around here. Figured that would be the best way for me to find what I’m lookin’ for.”

       Two squirrels. Three. They weasel through the lofty grass with an impish energy, pouncing on their tails, rolling some loose apples with their dainty paws. There isn’t as much meat on their bones as there is on boar and the other wolves wouldn’t chase such slippery prey, but food is food. Razor is laying on his stomach, peering through brambles and keeping as still as a stone, and watches the forest critters play. Some time pass. He prowls; they move; he prowls again. 

      A voice pierces through the air and everyone freezes. The squirrels twitch and jerk up, noses upturned. Razor’s hackles rise; his breath hitches in his throat. His claws dig into the earth under him. The squirrels stay frozen, tense, their tufty tails upright, stiff with nerves. 

      The voice rings again and this time the squirrels bound off, fleeing in a frenzy of bounces and scampering. Razor scrambles and is about to dash out after them --- until a hand clasps onto his shoulder. A human hand, belonging to a human arm, belonging to... “Red girl,” he realises, blinking up at her. How he had missed her scent in the wind -the sting of smoke, honey, freshly chopped pine- he would never know. Had she been calling his name for all this time? “You scared away the meat.”

Ah, yes -- her favorite maid in the universe! It only made sense that the outrider would want to show her appreciation for EVERYTHING she did. So Amber approached, leaned in and pressed a QUICK kiss to Noelle's cheek.

@fieryshot offers Noelle a quick and appreciative smooch! 

“ E--eh!? “ Getting a kiss is usually something she expected to receive if Noelle had chosen to visit her parents or grandparents... but to receive a kiss today, without that expectation, and from a knight, no less?! How could she have possibly prepared herself for that!

Common instinct almost made her blurt something out. ‘Affection like that is inappropriate while you are working, Amber!’ It would have killed the mood, for sure, but she stands by her usual duties and responsibilities, and getting a smooch was not one of them!

Yet...

She can’t bring herself to say it, because the light blush on her cheek and the hand that now held itself upon the area where she laid a soft and appreciative kiss made it nearly impossible for her to argue against it.

“ I-- Is there a reason you did that, Amber? “ Surely it couldn’t have just been an out-of-the-blue thing... did Kaeya set her up to this, maybe..?
