Title: Raze by Tillie Cole
Series: Scarred Souls (#1 of 4)
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Fighter Romance, Mafia Romance
Triggers: Multiple
Synopsis: One man stripped of his freedom, his morals... his life. Conditioned since adolescence, Raze was kept in captivity and trained to maim, to kill and to slaughter. Prisoner 818 becomes an unrivaled and unstoppable fighter in the ring. Violence is all he knows, his memory wiped by drugs. After years of incarceration in an underground hell, only one thought occupies his mind: revenge... bloody, slow and violent revenge. Revenge on the man who wronged him, Alik Durov.
Kisa Volkova is the only daughter of Kirill 'The Silencer' Volkov, head of the infamous 'Red' bosses of New York's Russian Bratva, and fiancee of Alik Durov, the Bratva heir. Her life is protected. In reality, it's a virtual prison. Her father's savage treatment of his rivals and his lucrative underground gambling ring-The Dungeon-ensures too many enemies lurk at their door. And she dreams to be set free.
Review: This volume contains two stories, Raze and Reap, both around 250 pages (above are their ebook covers, I have the paperback format with them combined). I started with Raze but I will definitely be continuing on with this series. There are alpha males and then there are ALPHA MALES, both Raze and Alik are amped up on testosterone, rage, revenge, and obsession, but Alik is such a piece of trash. And everyone can see it, but do nothing to help Kisa. She just keeps her head down and is the dutiful daughter prepared to sacrifice her self and become a dutiful Bratva wife. Raze is positively feral, but with his memories returning, the anticipation of his reckoning is consuming. And I really liked his style. If you've seen Tom Hardy's character in Warrior, you'll like this. He's in and out of the ring in minutes, no showboating, no slow torture, just messed some dude up and charges back out lol. This was definitely dark, violent, bloody. If you need trigger warnings this is probably not the book for you. Last book of the year!!!
