Curio looked down at the paper in his hands. “So... this is....?” he started before the man in front of him nodded.
“Yes.... that’s our patrol route” Half-Light said “I’ve got you and....” he glanced at the paper in his hand “Eh.... Lightning Speed and.... SilverBlood?”
“That’s me, Sir” the red headed teen said, lifting his hand slightly.
Half-Light nodded.
“Alright.....” he said “A lightning user and a weapons creator”
The two nodded.
“Yes, Sir” they said at the same time.
Half-Light nodded again. “Alright.... You two haven’t been out on patrol yet...?” he asked.
They shook their heads.
“No, Sir”
Again Half-Light nodded. “Go through the patrol structure again, then we can leave” he said “And stay close to me”
The two guys nodded, grinning at each other.
“Alright.... now get suited up, so we can go” Half-Light said.
“Yes, Sir” the two said, before they turned and quickly ran to the locker room.
Half-Light watched the two go, shaking his head. “Why do they have to have such weird nicknames....?” he muttered to himself, “As if remembering the graduates aren’t bad enough...”
***
Half-Light moved silently as LightningSpeed and SilverBlood followed behind him. So far the patrol had been going well. The two actually listened to what he told them.
Unlike some of the other students he’d taken out on patrol.
After they did a few more rounds a call came through for Half-Light. He frowned as he listened to the report.
The two teens stood silently as they waited for him to finish.
With a frown, Half-Light turned to the two. “Alright... There’s been a robbery at the bank” he said “Four of the robbers had been caught already, but three of them got away. We need make sure they don’t get past us”
The two nodded.
“Yes, Sir” they said.
Half-Light smiled before he nodded. “Good... If you see anything strange, call it out” he said “Don’t try and take them on, on your own, alright?”
“Yes, Sir”
“Good” Half-Light said “Now let’s get started... Be careful”
They started moving again. This time Half-Light moved in front of them, while Curio was in the back and Shaun in the middle.
Curio’s eyes flickered around. His lightning reaching through the ground, as if searching for anything out of the ordinary. Not that he was sure, what he was looking for, but he was still looking for it.
“... Sir...” Curio said “Did they say.... if the robbers had any abilities?”
Half-Light paused for a moment, before he shook his head. “No... they did not” he said “So you two need to be extra careful”
“Yes, Sir” the two said “We’ll be carefull”
As they moved it, Curio looked around, like he was looking for something. After a moment he turned into another street, not noticing that Shaun and Half-Light kept on moving.
Frowning Curio looked around. There was nothing in the street, no people nothing. Confused he looked around.
What was going on?
Even if the town was quiet, there were always just a bit of movement in every street. Only this one.... it was completely quiet. There was nothing.
For a second he wanted to step back, before he shook his head and continued down the street. His eyes flickered around, taking in everything around him. He could feel eyes following him, but he wasn’t sure what to do about it at the moment.
His lightning flickered around him for a moment. A hand shot out and grabbed him from behind. An arm went around him throat, as the hand covered his mouth.
The arm around his throat, started to strangle him, cutting of his air. He started gasping for breath.
Lightning flickered around him.
Nothing happened. It was like the person that caught him, was absorbing everything.
“You should have kept on walking, Kid” a voice growled in his eat.
Curio struggled to breath, gasping as he tried to get away from the man. “Let... go” he gasped.
“Not this time, boy” the voice hissed “I’m not going to prison”
Curio clenched his jaw as he calmed down. Being unable to breath, kind of threw him off, but panicking wouldn’t do anything. He needed to stay calm. The pressure around his throat became worse, choking him.
“Let.....go....” he said, voice weak and gasping.
“NO” the man snapped, tightening his arm around Curio’s throat, effectively strangling him.
Curio shut his eyes tightly, clenching his jaw. He needed to get out of here, before he couldn’t move anymore. Taking a deep breath, he just went limp, becoming a deadweight in the man’s arms.
A grunt sounded from the man as he suddenly struggled to keep hold of Curio. Without hesitation, Curio slammed his head back into the man’s face.
Immediately the arm around his throat disappeared and he crumbled to the ground, coughing. His vision swam, as he tried to move away from the man, but his limbs felt heavy. Immediately he reached for his lightning.
It burned beneath his skin in an almost uncontrollable rage.
His power felt uncontrolled, more than usual. If he let it go now, he’d be in a lot of trouble.
Curio struggled to his feet, falling back against the wall, behind him, one hand going to his throat. He knew that it was going to be badly bruised.
“Don’t....” Curio gasped as he looked over at the guy.
The man paused at he stared at Curio. “You’re just a kid....” he said.
Curio just glared at the man. “What does that have.... to do with.... anything?” he gasped, one hand at his throat.
For a moment the man just glared at him, before he shot forward.
Curio’s eyes widened and he all but fell to the side, to avoid getting hit by the man. He rolled into a crouch, eyes flickering around.
“Bloody brat!” the man snapped “Just let me kill you”
“Sorry....” Curio muttered, coughing “Don’t feel... like it”
The man attacked again.
Curio rolled to his feet, spun and kicked the man. Small sparks of lightning ripped through air between them, shocking the man. The teen jumped back, gasping. Everything turned and the dizziness cause him to fall back again.
Clenching his jaw he struggled back onto his feet.
The man kept on coming after Curio. Attack after attack came after him. It became harder and harder for Curio to keep up with the man. More and more sparks filled the air around them, everything started to become static.
Curio gasped, his eyes flickering for a moment, before a storm of lightning ripped through the street.
The man’s body started convulsing, before dropping to the ground.
Slowly the lightning disappeared and Curio sank to his knees. One hand going to his throat, the other grasping his shirt as he tried to contain the lightning.
Footsteps sounded, followed by voices.
Curio lifted his head slightly. He could make out Shaun and Half-Light rushing towards him.
“LS!” Shaun called.
“....I’m okay...” Curio gasped, pointing at the men on the floor “...attacked....”
Half-Light blinked at the man on the ground. “Are you alright, boy?” he asked, looking back at the teen.
If all of the kings had their queens on the throne
If all of the kings had their queens on the throne
We would pop champagne and raise a toast
To all of the queens who are fighting alone
Baby, you're not dancin' on your own
No damsel in distress, don't need to save me
Once I start breathin' fire, you can't tame me
And you might think I'm weak without a sword
But if I had one, it'd be bigger than yours
