All of us Rising Up

[SPOILER WARNING]

I wrote the story when Sorey fight the dragon while listening Rising Up. I wrote it based on my point of view and my fuzzy memories, so I’m really sorry if there is some part which wasn’t fit in the game.

For the naming, I only remembered the names of the main characters so forgive me if I had wrong in writing the names. I also forgot some of the official pronunciation, like Hyouma, so if I didn't remember it, I'll use Japanese pronunciation.

--------------- Sorey and Roze rushed to Gravegand basin through Vagrand forest. They had really bad feeling and felt the ominous aura since they got out of Lastonbell. When they heard that the war has begun once again, they had to stop it because it was the Lord of Calamity want: to spread the impurity. War is a good mine of impurity because the hatred between two countries are gathered there. And if the impurity gathered in there, there will be many Hyouma, and maybe the worst. A dragon. If someone was tainted, they will become a Hyouma. And if Seraphim was tainted enough, they will become a dragon. Normally, Seraphim can't be seen by normal human and only a person with high spiritual power can see and having interaction with them. But dragon is different. A dragon which was already on the stage of losing his heart will materialize and even normal person can see it. I'm really having a bad feeling about this. The previous war wasn't like this before. Please hurry up, Sorey, Roze, Lailah said inside their head. Seraphims who follow the Shepherd can get inside Shepherd's body because s/he became the vessel. "I know." "We're running at full speed, okay?" Sorey and Roze answered Lailah. Of course they were running to the war field because they had sensed the worst. After running and running, they finally found a way out to Gravegand basin, where the war is happening. And what awaits them is what they had imagined while running there.

****** The war between Hyland and Lowlance is still going. They fought each other. They killed each other. As already going for some decades. The never-ending conflict between them. Gravegand basin is filled with corpse of the soldiers of two countries. And it's still raising as long as the war hasn't ended yet. Although the soldiers want a peace, but their hatred toward the enemy's country is too big, big enough to make their actions based on peace. Although they were fighting because their superior told them to, but they were happily doing it because of their hatred toward the enemy's country. Never-ending hatred. And a war is a fit place to take out their hatred. They can kill their enemies and if they won, they will be a hero because of defeating the enemy. In the Hyland camp, eastern of Gravegand basin, Alisha was just arrived. She, the most person who want the war end, felt powerless to see that she couldn't prevent the war from happening. Even she already killed Martran, her teacher who is one of the people behind the war, and also the Lord of Calamity's subordinate, she still can't prevent the war from happening. But she doesn't give up. She doesn't want to give up because Sorey is still fighting and, most of all, she loves her country. But the moment she arrived at the camp, she felt something suffocating in the direction where the center of the war is. Maybe it because of the pressure of the war. Of course she'll think of that if she were a normal person. But, she ever became Shepherd's Juushi twice so she ever experienced this kind of aura. Moreover, the one in the war field is far more overwhelming. "Did Sorey know something? But I think if it have any connection with Hyouma, Sorey will do something to it." Which is means, my turn is to do something with the human. With that resolution, Alisha took her spear and rushed into the center of the war. She avoided any contacts with Lowlance army to decrease the causality. Meanwhile, in the northern side, Sergei is fighting. But what he fought isn't Hyland army, but the hatred toward the enemy. Sergei is befriended with the Shepherd, and that Shepherd doesn't want a war and is fighting against something more powerful than the war. He thought that if he doesn't provide peace to Sorey, he can't call himself his friend.

****** Just southern side of Gravegand, a Seraphim woman was looking at the war. She thought how foolish human is. But at the same time, she felt sad. She was affected with the hatred feeling, but because of the distance with the center of the war, it doesn't affect anything to her. But it was different with her companion.

A Seraphim man was standing in the middle of the war. Normal human can't see him, therefore he wasn't attacked by both side. But, on the contrary, the Seraphim can feel something that even the human produced it, they can't feel it because they were blinded by it. Hatred, anger, killing intent, whine, war cry. This is human. Human destroys everything. Human is a cruel being. Therefore, they have to perish. Yes, they don't deserve to exist in this world. They invented this feeling. They must take responsibility for what they had done.

The dark aura around the people who had change into Hyouma was absorbed by a single Seraphim. He absorbed every dark aura in that area until it wrapped his body. The armies of two kingdoms can't see him, but this time they felt some pressure around them. The sky is becoming darker and darker as something is gathering the cloud in that area. But what fear them the most is strange feeling which focused near them. It was like the mix between wrath and fear, and it was near. It felt like it behind their back, beside their ear, but at the same time, in front of them with overwhelming power. The fear has spread. They no longer think the read uniform is their companion and blue uniform is the enemy. Because of the fear, what they see, everything everyone is enemy.

The dark aura has gathered to the point that normal human can see. People who saw that started running, but it was too late. Something came out from the ominous black aura. First is a big paw with sharp claw stepped to the ground, which inflict tremor around. Then something long came out and swept the army once. After that, a big head with two horns came out. It has red eyes and staring at the army as they are a very delicious food. No, it didn't eat them it sweep and step on them. The last is a very big pair of wing appeared and swiped the aura, while it’s roaring. The roar was heard in the entire Gravegand basin, and land around it. It was something that appeared only in the fairy tale and almost no one believed it until now. It is a dragon.

A panic occured. Both armies had forgot the reason they came to the war, and were running for their live. But even the dragon is big, it moves swiftly. It stepped, sweep, bit, and strike every human in there. Both armies, of course, were scared. But they can't run from the dragon. Then when the dragon tries to sweep them with its tail, its movement was stopped. Then, standing in front of the dragon is the Shepherd and his Juushi. "Now is the time. Please get away from here." Sorey said. Both armies were confused with the presence of the boy and the girl. But when they saw the clothes the boy wore, they realized that he is the Shepherd. Arrival of the Shepherd became their hope because they believed that the Shepherd will defeat the dragon. The army is retreating at once and left only Sorey and Roze with the dragon.

****** The dragon gazed at them with killing intent. This is what a war has produced. A mass of hatred and fear felt by human being, Lailah said with shivering sound. Then one by one Seraphims inside Sorey's body came out to see the dragon. "This is why I hate human," Edna said. "It's really big, you know. Defeating it won't be an easy task," Zaveid said. "I know. But we have no choice" The task which only Shepherd can do is purify. Defeating a dragon will purify at least most of the hatred in that area. The dragon roared again and attack Sorey and the others. They jump to evade it. Luzloshiv Lelei Luville Yuocum Both Sorey and Roze kamui with Mikleo and Zaveid. Roze attracted the dragon from above while Sorey his with his arrow from far. But even Kamui is powerful, it still has no effect with it. Foyes Meyma This time, Roze kamui with Lailah. Lailah's fire should be strong enough to penetrate the dragon. But, the dragon itself can breathe fire which has large range. Hakudim Yuber Sorey change Mikleo to Edna and perform stone wall to prevent the fire. "It’s really strong," Sorey said while giving a wry smile. "Well, it’s a dragon. What do you hope for," Roze answered, try to making a conversation. "Haha. We can't give up, right?" Roze just reply him with smile and started attacking again.

On the other side, without distinguish between enemy and friend, the soldier of Hyland and Lowlance has ran into safer place, which at least the claw of the dragon can't attack them. Then Alisha came and asked what happened. The soldier answered her. She was surprised that a dragon appeared. Moreover, Sorey is fighting it. After hearing that, Alisha went to the place near where the dragon is. She found Sorey and Roze, attacking while evading the dragon. "Sorey....." "Even the Shepherd can't defeat it," said one of Lowlance army near her. "That's−−" "That's not true. Sorey will do something to it. I'm sure of it." Alisha's words wer cut by a Lowlance soldier. From his armor, it seems he has high rank. But what noticed her is that he knew Sorey. But then, they saw again Sorey was overwhelmed by the dragon. Especially when the dragon breathed the fire which forced him to make a defensive stance. Then Alisha should make a decision. She already made a resolution to do something for her country. Helping Sorey of course will do it more. "Everyone, listen to me!!" Alisha shouted in the crowd of exhausted soldiers. Of course everyone focused on her, include Sergei. "As you can see, the Shepherd is fighting the dragon. He is risking his live for us. I know that it is his job as a Shepherd, to fight for human being, but should we just sit here and do nothing, while put everything on Sorey?" The soldiers thought Alisha's words. She may right, but the fact is that they don't have power to fight the dragon. "What Princess Alisha said ia right. We may have no power against the dragon, but that doesn't mean that we can't help. Even if we just do a little things, which should be enough to help the Shepherd. What do you say?" The soldiers seeing each other as they were asking any response. Then one by one is taking their weapon and raise it. They shout in agreement. Alisha smiled and saw Sergei. They smiled each other in agreement.

****** Sorey and Roze kept attacking the dragon, even it only scratch it a bit. And every time it breathes fire, two of them must take defensive stance. "This isn't getting anywhere," Roze said. "So, you're giving up?" Sorey asked her, even though he's already knew the answer. "As if," Roze answered. They attacked and avoided the dragon by changing kamui. Then the dragon made its stance to breathe fire. "Roze!" Sorey pointed at Roze because she is kamui with Edna. Roze punched the ground with the flying fist. Buy before she did it, something came from the sky. It’s a dozen of arrows, and it hit the dragon. Tiamat lose its stance and fell. The arrows had stopped it from breathing fire. Sorey and Roze looked at the direction where the arrows were shot. They could see the soldiers who were running when they arrived were walking with passion. They held their weapon firmly and their spirit is back. What made Sorey and Roze surprise is that the army of both countries has joint up under Alisha and Sergei in front of them. "Sorey, we won't let you fight by yourself. We will assist with all of our power, so please defeat that dragon," Alisha said to Sorey. Sorey and Roze filled with high spirit once again. They didn't lose hope before. They just thought that they maybe die by just fighting a dragon. But now is different. They knew that both of the countries has support him. The spirit of them isn't died. They are united now, and they are assisting the Shepherd in defeating the dragon. They should know that their power won't be able to defeat the dragon. But that doesn't mean that they cannot help the Shepherd. "Roze!!" "Got it!" Luzloshiv Lelei Luville Yuocum

They changed their kamui to attack the dragon. Roze flew upward and shoot a dozen of wind swords from above to the dragon, and then Sorey shoot the arrow of water pressure, which powerful enough to knock back the dragon. Sorey looked at Alisha, as he pointed to the knock out dragon. "Everyone! This is our chance!!" Alisha said while raised her spear, then she charged alongside Sergei to the dragon, followed by the soldiers. The dragon roared in pain as it took damage from the soldiers. Sorey looked at the dragon, as he and Roze undo the kamui. The Seraphim who turned into dragon isn't wrong. Human has brought a poisonous negative aura to the tainted Seraphim, which turned him into dragon. But human is not all wrong. Rage, fear, hatred, envy. It is natural for a normal human being to have such emotions. The rage of having underestimated, the fear of know nothing, the hatred for disliking something they like, and the envy of having something they didn't. The person who responsible of all of this is the Lord of Calamity. Is he? "Sorey." Roze called his name. Yes. No matter who is responsible of all of this, the fact that there is a dragon in front of them. Sorey still hope that he could find a way to purify the dragon without killing it. But he couldn't take the risk of searching the idea now. The dragon born from a Seraphim who was in pain of feeling human negative emotion. If they couldn't calm it down, they have to kill it in order to cease the pain. Yes. There is no other choice, for now. Sorey feel bad for the dragon, but they had no other choice. "I'm sorry, Edna." Sorey whispered. Of course Edna who is inside him could feel his feeling, and could heard his apologize. Edna just silence. Foyes Meyma Hakudim Yuber Sorey kamui with Lailah and Roze kamui with Edna. "Let's go" They jumped to the dragon as the soldiers scattered to avoid them. Fire kamui sword is burning as it covered by fire and the flying fist of earth kamui is ready to punch.

“IT ENDS WITH THIS!!!”

Sorey and Roze landed a critical hit to the dragon as it roared in pain. Yes, the dragon is in pain with the power of kamui. It roared and roared and then it jumped and flied to the sky, brought Sorey and Roze with it, as their attack is still in contact with the dragon. Sorey and Roze tried to hold the pressure when they were forcedly brought upward. Moreover, they still hope that their attack will kill the dragon because they already put all of them to the last attack.

As the dragon flew to the sky, Sorey and Roze attacks did kill the dragon, as it vanished in the sky and cleared up the enormous cloud around the Gravegand basin. The army of Hyland and Lowlance saw the event with amazed. Not only they saw a dragon who they thought to be a myth in front of them and saw the Shepherd in action, but also they were part of the action. They helped the Shepherd, although just a bit.

They looked at the cleared sky. Somehow, it’s been awhile since they felt the clear sky and the warm sunlight. Is it because the dragon has gone? Or is it because they have fought with all their power and win in result? No matter what the reason is, it is been awhile since they felt this feeling.

“We did it,” Alisha murmured.

They helped the Shepherd to kill the dragon, and they did it. They have won.

Sergei looked at the soldiers. There is no more Hyland army or Lowlance army. There is only “Human” army. The human army has fought the dragon and they won.

“IT IS THE HUMAN’S WIN”

He shouted to the soldiers and they shouted in happiness.

There is no dissent between them anymore. A Lowlance soldier hugged a Hyland soldier in happiness, a Hyland soldier cried in front of a Lowlance soldier as they cheer up together. There is no difference. Yes. They are human. We are human. Even though we were born in different country, we are still the human in this land. And it is their duty to support each other, not to expand their territory and tried to destroy one another.

Sorey, you taught me this. And this will be the seed of the peace between two countries. I really thank you, Alisha thought as she saw the cleared sky.

She wondered where Sorey and Roze are now. But then again, they are Shepherd and Juushi. Their duty isn’t with human. Maybe the reason they won’t show themselves after they killed the dragon is because they still have something to do, and they won’t let themselves around human.

“Sorey it is,” she smiled.

Somewhere in Vagrand forest, Sorey and Roze had lied in the grass. They had already used all of their strength, which even they couldn’t move anymore.

But they were satisfied. Even though part of them thought that killing the dragon is wrong, but they had saved a lot of lives in the battlefield and they prevent the malice aura spread further.

Lying in the forest won’t fully regain their energy. Not only Sorey and Roze who were tired, but also the Seraphims. They have been changed kamui with Sorey and Roze. They need to rest properly.

“Let’s rest in the hideout. I’m really beat,” Roze said.

I’m really bad with English, because it isn’t my mother language, so I’m sorry if I wrote wrong in grammar etc. But I gave all to write this as I really love Tales of Zestiria soooo much. And I hope you like it, especially those who played the game and feel the scene which I picked.

Also, since when I wrote this, it’s still in Japanese language, so I plan to translate it into Japanese too. I’ll post the link later.
