A Letter to Myself

“I know you’re tired and you want to give up. You’d rather die than live aimlessly, thinking about the could haves each day. I know it’s all been difficult. You can’t always try to be happy and optimistic. You don’t always have to be strong and act like everything is okay when it’s not. It’s okay to be angry, grumpy, moody, and sad at times. Ignoring or trying to suppress those will not work. Your feelings are valid. You have to recognize it and then release it. That way you’ll be able to move forward and look at the better days ahead. I know how hard it is for you to believe and hope that everything will be okay when the opposite keeps on happening. But please try to still believe. You are stronger than you think you were. You are a fighter. Remember who you are, remember who your God is. He loves you so much and he will never leave nor forsake you. Remember how He got you through before and that He could do it again. He is faithful always. You could have died at the OR that time but you didn’t. Remember those who love you. Your parents who always take care of you and your siblings who always try to make you feel better. If not for yourself, try to fight a little more for them. Remember your dream to become a doctor and those who believe in you. One day you will tell your story and you will help others who wants to give up. Keep the faith. Trust God.”

Wrote this one after I’ve been on those times when I’m so sick of being sick, when anger, despair, and hopelessness overpowered me, when no words of encouragement and positive thinking could work, when I questioned even my faith, when I got so tired of it all and I all I wanted is to give up.
