Figure Out Life
“Gives me time to figure out life, I guess.” “Are you excited for it?” “For what?” “For life.” “I guess so. I don’t really have a choice.”
I am bored by your answer. I think I was expecting more from you, You want to be a Dominican, right? They’re supposed to be Creative and academic. But then again, maybe I knew In my gut that your answer Would inspire no reaction from me But a groan and a reminder Not to befriend rad trads, Who want to launch a crusade On praise and worship music. That should have been My first red flag. Or maybe I was hoping That you would surprise me, Show me that “real Catholicism” Could be practiced by someone With the will to prove me wrong, A flaming creative streak, And a desire to have fun. Instead you turned your nose up at me, And I at you, And we masked it with pleasantries.
