I am absolutely convinced Fili would be THE PROUDEST babe. He knows he's gorgeous, are you kidding? He's an eighty year old dwarven prince, he's been around the block, he knows how to please and he knows how pretty he is. He can get a little cocky sometimes, but unless he's been at the ale with his brother, he's usually very respectful.

But when he knows you find him gorgeous? Oh he's proud. ProudBabe. And he'll tease you about it too, depending on how comfortable you are with him. He'll catch you checking him out and he'll give you little knowing looks, but then he'll sit very close to you and give you little touches and more looks, low chuckles- all those flirty things he absolutely loves. And whether you give it all right back to him or blush like crazy, he takes his cues from you and makes you enjoy the time with him and he absolutely adores it all either way.

But the BOOTY? When he first catches you watching him- maybe at the forge, or he's chopping wood or sparring with Kili- he definitely doesn't catch on. You couldn't be staring at his butt- no. No way. But then, maybe you wriggle your brows or touch his belt or low on his back and he starts to think you could be checking out his ass. And he goes FERAL. He's hot all over and doesn't know whether or not to be embarrassed or turned on or impressed or proud or shy. You know him well enough to know he's enjoying the way you're treating him. And now you know how to get him back for all his teasing!!

By the time you two are together, when you're an item, he knows very well how much you like his ass and how it drives you nuts. And he's 100% cocky about it. He gets two or three pairs of those special pants you like on him and he wears them all the time. He walks with a special little wriggle or bends down in front of you whenever he wants to drive you to the bedchambers. And of course he often stuns you by walking around your chambers in the nude, flaunting his round, pert ass all over the place until you drag him (back) into bed with you. Or possibly better yet, he walks around your chambers with only a tunic on. That way you have a little mystery. The tunic is long and does cover the top half of his booty, but there's enough for you to see and touch. And lets just say there's a lot of pinching, grabbing, and slapping going on at all times and he absolutely adores it. If you really want to wind him up quick during a make-out sesh, all you gotta do is grab his butt and knead the cheeks and he's hard as a rock.

And you cannot tell me that he doesn't start working that part of his body especially hard. Like he does squats with huge boulders and uncut logs of wood. It's a half-joke/half-real thing. And sometimes you watch. And sometimes he's naked.

But there's also really cute things, like how you like to put your hands in his back pockets when he's kissing you, or walk along with one hand on his belt or in his pocket. He loves how much you love every part of him.

And I mean, I won't go into it here, but I'm definitely gonna say that you introduce him to butt stuff because he's so pretty and perfect and you're both just so turned on by this by now and you want to make him feel good any and every way you can

Who would win in an arm wrestling match: fili or kili?

Have you ever seen the Spiderwick Chronicles? You know Mulgaraths’ little minions that mob around outside of the circle around the house? Those are all my thoughts about this. You’ve freed them.

So we all know the dwarves are very strong. Proportionally, they’re stronger than they naturally should be. One example of this is how they move the boulders so easily when they are back in Erebor. Limestone boulders weigh about 175lbs per cubic foot and the dwarves were carrying them like I would carry a 12pack of beer. LIKE???? This is why they couldn’t just shrink the actors down using CGI in the movie. The costumers HAD to add the body/muscle suits, the huge boots, the larger fingers and forearms, etc. in combination with the CGI stuff in order to make them look shorter, yes, but also much stouter, wider, and stronger. To make them look as dwarves are meant to be- wicked strong creatures with impressive endurance.  Now onto the brothers specifically. No one has any doubt Fili is strong. But you PUNKS who think Kili is any less strong, YOU ALL can FIGHT ME. I am coming at you with angry tears and pointing fingers.

We all know the usual headcanon things- Fili and Kili BOTH trained for battle, may have worked in the mines and forges with Thorin, can fight off all species in very heavy dwarven armor, etc., etc. THIS is why their bodies are so thick, they have to match the strength of humongous enemies in much shorter bodies. Hence the THICC bois. We have all seen the body suit they had Deano wear for Fili- it makes him very wide, very sturdy. There is no reason Kili should be any different, especially since in the movie and arguably in the book, the brothers were meant to be the same height. They are meant to be built the same, they have the same muscle structure, they would grow similarly. 

Like LOOK at them. Look. 

They’re big boys. *happy shiver*

“Kili only shoots arrows, Fili fights with swords.” LIES. You cannot tell me that BOTH nephews of the king weren’t trained in the same kinds of weaponry. Kili knows how to fight with a sword or anything else he has to use. But him being an archer is a HUGE and IMPECCABLE asset because he can fight from afar. He can help take the heat off the dwarves- some of whom only fight in hand to hand combat- by knocking off the enemy in advance. We all know the scene with the wargs when Thorin depends on him to take out the orc and warg above them on the rock.

WHICH LEADS ME TO THIS: Do you KNOW how much draw weight would be necessary to kill a warg? Or an orc? A LOT. Now, I am not an archery master in any way, but I do know that longbows were used in medieval battle that had a draw strength of up to 150lbs to kill horses, travel far enough, and pierce shallow or thin armor, or holes in armor (like armpits and the back of knees and all that painful stuff). These longbows could be 6tft long and were used by human men (der). Kili uses a composite recurve bow. These kinds of bows were usually used by warriors on horseback, so they were smaller than longbows, which is why Kili, being a dwarf, could use it. Would a smaller bow mean the draw strength would have to be increased to kill wargs and orcs? AKA HUGE enemies? I don’t know enough about archery and... physics? to answer this question, but it’s one of my thought goblins.

Imagine bringing your favourite books to Middle Earth and reading them for the company. Imagine Fili and Kili looking at you with awe as you share these tales and smile at them between chapters. I feel as though storytellers are greatly admired in Dwarven culture, but I can't recall where I got that idea from..

Hi, anon! Oh wow! I love this idea, especially that storytellers are really admired by the dwarves! Oh, this makes my heart so warm!

I can see it being something to help them wind down at night. You start with the full company listening to you. You’re reading with full voice, maybe some different character idiosyncrasies to help them understand who’s speaking when- like full on audio-book narrator. Then, as some start to drift off and do their own things, you reel it in, speaking calmly and softly for those who remain. It’s always Fili and Kili who stay until you’re too tired to read or Thorin insists the three of you turn in for the night.

I would think you would only be able to bring two or three books max. So when you sit down by yourself one of the first nights and someone asks what you’re reading, maybe Bilbo or Kili, and you explain some of the plot of the book, you’re quickly asked to read aloud. Maybe you’re a human, elf, or hobbit and didn’t know of the dwarves’ love for storytellers and this surprises you, but is exciting to you as well. For all these semi-grumpy dwarves to be so enraptured by your adventure story! Maybe you’re a bit shy at first, but it doesn’t last long and it’s something you all enjoy and bond over, whether the older dwarves will admit it or not. I think Balin wouldn’t hesitate to tell you how much he enjoys your reading and Fili and Kili will constantly talk to you about what they think will happen next or bug you to read one more chapter or one more page when you can barely keep your eyes open. You won’t think Dwalin is a big proponent of your reading until he puts the book in your hand one night and says, “Better get goin’ lass, we’re loosin’ the light,” and sits right in front of you while he mends something or sharpens/cleans his blades. 

Maybe you’ve brought two adventure books and one romance. You brought your favorites, you didn’t plan on reading them all aloud, after all. So when you’ve finished the two adventure books and Fili excitedly asks you to start another, you hesitate a bit. “Um, I don’t have any more... I don’t think you’ll enjoy this one as much.” Kili asks what it’s about. You explain a bit. Maybe it’s something like Jane Austen or Bronte or Elizabeth Gaskell (CAN YOU IMAGINE READING NORTH AND SOUTH TO THORIN OMG). You expect them to roll their eyes and all their teasing to catch up with you after all this time- “Of course you brought that,” or “That sounds more like something belonging to a human/elf/hobbit.” But Thorin stand up next to you and asks, “Do you think dwarves so pragmatic? Heartless? Go on and read it to us. We’re listening.” And he sits down right below you. Maybe he says this because he himself wants to know your favorite book and what you find romantic. For future reference ;) or maybe he knows one of his nephews or friends is attached to hearing your voice every night before he goes to sleep. It calms him or he too wants to know more about what you enjoy so someday he can make your heart race as the protagonist of the novel does.

So you get to some romantic part of the book, or your favorite part, and you’re smiling so much the dwarves could hear it in your words even if they closed their eyes. Someone is definitely watching you and memorizing every word so they can recite it to you later, sometime when you’re both alone. You close the book at the end of the chapter and there’s a discussion- “He wouldn’t say that, that’s unrealistic.” “You only think that because you don’t know what a lady likes.” “Ladies like a good body, I’m fine there.” “No, ladies need a good mind and fine language.” “Maybe your kind of lady does.” And someone, whether it’s Fili or Kili or whoever, he pulls you aside and wants to look at the book. He noticed which was your favorite part and asks you why. He offers to read to you sometime after Erebor is reclaimed and you two can spend some time together. “I don’t want to go another day without listening to your voice and learning about your passions.” SWOON.

Or maybe you and Bilbo hang by the fire every night and dream of the perfect man and that’s enough for everyone! Haha!

Oooooooohhoooohooooohoooooo. Well. We know who WILL notice Fili’s not-so-subtle flirting.

THIS ONE. And there’s no WAY he gives Fili a break from his teasing.

One morning before the company gets going, you spend some time admiring a tree near the camp. You’re going on and on about how you’ve never seen a tree with bark that color and it’s so beautiful and Fili is the only one who’s listening to you. As you trek on from the front of the group, Fili hangs back and cuts a branch from the tree. He saves the piece in his pack all day until you’re asleep in your bedroll later that night. He takes first watch and spend the entire time whittling a gorgeous comb for you. All night he’s carefully carving away, making perfect tines to run through your hair with a finely decorated handle in the shape of a lion with Ereborean runes all down it’s back. Once it’s perfect, he sits down next to you by the fire at night and gives it to you, saying he made it just for you and if you want, he can make beads for you someday too. 

You are oblivious. Fili wants to jump into a warg’s mouth. Kili is laughing so hard, Thorin smacks his back because he thinks his nephew is choking.

Though Kili is really laying into his brother, making fun of him with everything he’s got because Fili has girls RUNNING after him at home and now the one he actually feels something for doesn’t even understand he’s flirting, he does feel bad for his big bro. Fili is really struggling. He’s losing his confidence, starting to think that he’s not taking the hint you’re sending him. 

Do you think she wants me to back off? Fili asks him.

That’s it for Kili. He stands up, saunters over to you and all Fili can do is watch as your smile slowly disappears, your eyes go wide and you’re all flushed and staring at the ground. Then you... you’re coming over to him? YOU’RE COMING OVER TO HIM OH MAHAL and you sit down next to him, staring at your hands in your lap. 

I’m sorry, Fili.

And he’s ready for rejection. He regrets ever making you the comb, ever flirting with you the way he has, ever allowing Kili to talk to you. Before he can say anything, you continue. 

I’m so sorry for ever making you feel like I didn’t want you. I just didn’t think YOU could ever want ME, so... I thought you were just being nice.

His head snaps up to look at you and you’re already watching him.

All those times you offered to braid my hair or sharpen my daggers or groom my pony for me, I wanted so badly to say yes. But how could a prince court a commoner with the King only feet away? So I thought you must not mean it that way-

I did, Fili says. He takes your hand and turns his whole body to you. I did mean it that way, I want to court you. I care about you very much. I DON’T care about any stupid rules. You are the one I want. 

Then will you braid my hair? you ask.

Fili, man. Such a gem. We know he is very respectful and hardworking, he’s very intelligent. He may be on the quieter side, but I think his mind is whirring all the time, taking everything in, paying attention and making plans.

Yay! Happy Fili Friday!! WHOOOOOOO!!

I am a front row passenger on this roller coaster ride every single time it comes to town and let me tell you, the carnival HAS come round this year and it is HERE TO STAY. BUCKLE UP KIDDIES, there is enough room in this front row for ALL OF US!!!

We love our quest Fili- no doubt! But we also love our King Fili. King Fili who (please, Mahal, please) has not seen a battle or an enemy or a hungry day since Erebor was reclaimed. Yes, he works hard every day- manual labor to rebuild and in the forges, long hours in court and council, traveling to other realms for peace talks and deals- but at the end of the day or journey, he is always free to return to his loving home, his comfy bed, and his favorite foods. He is strong AF, even for a dwarf, but NOW he’s got a good ol’ healthy tum. A tum that only comes with long times of peace and prosperity in a land. A tum is something to be proud of, especially in dwarven kingdoms. A tum. That leads to a DAD BOD!!!!!!!!

Can you just imagine wrapping your arms around his middle and resting your head on his chest, just standing there and hugging him whenever you can, whenever he’s close enough to take for yourself for a moment. What are you doing, amrâlimê? You sigh, melting into him a bit more. Hugging you. He asks if everything’s all right and you nod. He chuckles and kisses your head and hugs you back until he has to return to what he was originally doing. 

Then Fili wants to escape from his duties for the day. He takes you, a soft blanket, a few canteens of port, and his favorite baked goods to the lake for the day. You’ve eaten- cakes were thrown, nobody knows who launched the first one (he did), there are crumbs everywhere, the blanket is stained with berries- and now you’re both laying down on the blanket in the shade. He pulls your head onto his belly because I forgot a pillow, come ‘ere, and he doesn’t take no for an answer. Between his gentle, steady breaths, his soft humming, and his fingers running through your hair, you accidentally nap away the afternoon and he absolutely makes fun of you for it later. But joke’s on him because this means you have to run away tomorrow afternoon too.

Later, maybe he’s sitting on your bed, leaning back against the headboard as he watches you change into your night clothes after a long day. He’s telling you about the stupid thing Kili did this morning, yes he told him not to do it, yes he helped him out of the bind it put him in, yes Fili delivered him right to his chambers for the night. And you fit yourself right between his legs, resting against his chest with your arms around him. You snuggle into the softness he offers. He adjusts against the pillows, effortlessly lifting you and placing you in his lap. Thick arms and legs surround you, but he’s still so soft and gentle all around and it all makes you thank Mahal for the times of peace that have given you the magnificent Fili Dad Bod you’re wrapped up in right now.

Sorry plot bunnies are eating me alive. Now I shall bother you XD So memebers of the company are obviously gracious gentlemen (thorin, fili, and kili) reader is struggling with her hair after being on the road for a month. Now she’s attempting to detangle and get order. She also doesn’t understand why asking one of them to touch her hair, detangle, and braid it are so “like wait, what?” For the aforementioned individuals. XD

You’re not bothering me! 

Ugh as I mentioned before, can you imagine long hair after a month of rain, wind, dirt, running and fighting without washing it? Holy moly. Rough, man. So no wonder this human is asking for some help. (Using second person because it’s easier!)

Imagine how annoyed and distraught you would have to be to ask Thorin for help. Like the LEADER of this whole damn thing. You’re sitting on the ground before going to sleep, trying to undo your braid because you’ve been putting it off which was a huge mistake. You can’t get the tangles and twigs out and you’ve been pulling and your arms are sore and you slam your hands in your lap and Thorin just happens to look at you and then you explode. “Please! Please help me. I can’t get my hair braided again until I get these tangles out, and THERE are LEAVES in my HAIR! PLEASE. You’re hair always looks so nice. Please just help me.” And he gets all bristly and is like “No. Go to sleep.” Then you’re embarrassed, you’re tired, you’re frustrated, everything hurts- especially now your arms and your head and your eyes well a bit and no matter which way you turn, Thorin sees it. And he starts to tell you about the custom, stuttering because YOU’RE CRYING IN FRONT OF HIM and he just sits behind you and tells you “It’s all right. I’ll help you. In the human way.” But now he’s thinking of it in the not human way- he’s thinking of it in the dwarf way because you’re hair is so beautiful and once it’s untangled, it’s so soft and luscious and long and he hears you sniff and he feel so awful that he does braid it for you. And it’s such a comfortable style, it doesn’t pull anywhere and stays in for days without tangling. And all you can do it thank him and apologize for losing it and he just twists the ends of your hair in his fingers and tells you it’s all okay.

Fili. Sweet babe. You don’t mind asking him for help when you run into trouble. Maybe your comb literally breaks in your hair and you feel the emotions start to swell because you’re so annoyed. So you turn to Fili because his hair and braids are always beautiful and perfect, even in the wind and while fighting. “Can you just... Real quick? Help me?” And his eyes go wide because he knows you don’t mean it in the courting sense, but he also can’t just touch your hair because it’s real for him so he just says, “Um, well...” and holds out a finger and pulls some kind of lotion/oil bar out of his bag. “Rub some of this on your hands,” he says, “And it will help get any knots out and it will keep your hair untangled.” And he sits and talks with you and walks you through things, staying up with you at night until your hair is smooth and brushed out because he gave you his comb to borrow. The next morning you thank him again and he slips your own new comb into your hands. He whittled it this morning while you were still sleeping.

Beeb Kili sees you grab your sword. “What are you doing?” he asks. And you yell back, gathering your locks in one hand and holding the sword by your jaw. “Cutting my damn hair! I can’t stand it anymore!” He takes the sword and says very soothingly, “No, no, no. Don’t do that. Your hair is so beautiful, don’t cut it just because you’re annoyed. I’ll help you.” And you just look at him. “I thought hair was a thing with dwarves.” And he tells you it is, but since you’re human, he thinks he can help you as long as you’re both clear on the meaning. “Or lack of meaning,” he says with a cute squint and sideways smile. So you sit between his legs and he just jabbers away, talking non stop while he effortlessly puts your hair to rights and braids it perfectly and comfortably for you. You thank him. He shrugs. “No problem. So would you rather get married in the summer or winter? And how many babies do you want? And-” And he can’t talk anymore because he’s giggling hysterically as you push him and roll over on your bedroll. “Goodnight Kili.”
