Can anyone offer advice?

I’m feeling very down at the moment. I did some test filming for my Halloween videos. You cannot see shit. Everything is dark and I have ONE lamp in my room so every single thing blends. The only thing you can see is the orange pumpkin tinsel, the glitter off my small tree, and my pale ass face. I tried moving my lamp around and still no real good results. I need my ceiling lamp fixed so I can have light from above. Or I need to learn a LOT more about film lighting so I can figure out how to light my set. I don’t understand why it appears so well in pictures without flash, but set to record and it tints down like two shades. I even tried finding night mode, can’t find it on this camera.

Can anyone give me any advice as to what kind of lighting I should try and find? There is a LOT of information on the interwebs so I’m just asking for some advice to help me start.

Arrow started filming today!!!! I mean I'm sure they have already started but SEASON 4 IS IN FULL AFFECT I REPEAT SEASON 4 HAS STARTED FILMING AND IS IN FULL AFFECT Which means eventually a trailer!
