Speaking as a Filipino, the Tagalog dub of K-Pop Demon Hunters is one of the best dubs I’ve ever encountered. I feel like the Tagalog team saw that Netflix was making a movie about k-pop and since the Philippines is the social media capital/one of the most popular countries for kpop, they had to go hard with the dub.
What I mean is:
1) They dubbed the songs, which most other dubs didn’t do. And they’re not cheap covers either, the Tagalog versions of the songs sound like legit P-Pop tracks.
2) They captured the energy and mannerisms of young Filipino celebrities doing interviews/guest appearances on ASAP or It’s Showtime. Which works since that’s a pretty good parallel to kpop celebrities.
3) Since I understand Tagalog, some of the dialogue is changed but in a way that you can feel the dub team wanted to honor the original while also appealing more to Filipino viewers. For example, the lyrics to “Your Idol” sound more demonic and evil (it’s that Catholic trauma coming through lol).
4) In general, all the Tagalog dub actors were giving it their all, from the Taglish to the way they embodied their characters. I swear, the actor who dubbed Bobby was channeling Boy Abunda and it just worked.
there is a hierarchy to everything...

Third Worlders who obsess over US and EU social issues got their priorities all messed up. Like why are you seething about migrants in the First World when everyone in your country is trying to leave?
