hello!! i just want to say that i really like the half filipino yamaguchi idea!! im filipino and i remember being embarrassed about my race i'd always tell them i havent been to that country (even though i was born and raised there) and because of that i stopped speaking tagalog ! rn its hard for me to speak it but im slowly learning again ! when people have half filipino characters i get rlly happy! so i just want to say salamat!

and yo i totally understand what you mean!!!! as a kid, i rejected the living hell out of my being filipino. a lot of it was probably because i’d bought into the shit other ppl said about filipinos, like how we’re cheap, annoying, dirty, have an ugly language, etc (along with the rest of negative asian stereotypes that are shoved onto us even though everyone likes to forget abt any asian that isnt chinese, japanese, or korena). like all that stuff about ‘pinoy pride!!!’ i thought was annoying and i constantly distanced myself from it
tbh it took me going away to college and living in an environment almost completely devoid of filipino anything for me to truly start to appreciate it and want to TAKE IT ALL BACK. i have to live everyday with the regret of having forgotten how to speak ilocano and my tagalog is SO AWFUL.... it’s so embarrassing....
BUT i’m trying to learn again and make up for all these years of me trying to be a white person. i LOVE being filipino, our culture is so beautiful and lively and im glad you’re also embracing it!!! that makes me so happy, especially when i see the way our culture so quickly fades out of the lives of a lot of later generation filipinos
i am honest to god MOVED when i see filipinx headcanons for characters!! the feeling of imagining them in the kind of setting i grew up in or having the same habits is so gratifying and helps me feel for their character in a deeper way, especially when yamaguchi is probably my top fav character!!!
