"Wuthering Heights"

I'll share with you my favorite film adaptation of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights". Many fans love the 1992 film with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, but I am an absolute fan of the 2009 film with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley. When I first watched this film, I was so impressed by Tom Hardy's performance (this was my first acquaintance with the actor's work) that I immediately watched the film a second time. Yes, the film is dark, but it is so emotional that for me it can't be compared with films of other years. This is a story about a sick, obsessive and ruthless love that torments and destroys everyone and everything in its path.

"The Time Traveler's Wife"

"The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. I was impressed by this book. It's a romantic science fiction and drama. The plot is so unusual that I can't draw any parallels with other books in this genre. The book leaves a sad impression. What happens if you can, without your control, at any moment travel back in time to the past or future to the most unexpected and inconvenient place for yourself. What if you meet your future soulmate as a child, knowing that she will become your wife. Or see her in old age? How to live with such a person and what to expect? If you don't want to read the book, then there is a 2009 film adaptation of the same name with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. Despite the reduction of some events, the film completely covers the book. Recently I saw that there is also a new miniseries with Theo James in the lead role (2022). I have not watched the series. But judging by the trailer, the series only took the general idea, otherwise they came up with a lot of things that weren't in the book. Since I haven't watched it, I can't recommend it.

The film "The Best Offer" (2013) is actually very unusual. When you start watching it, it evokes an atmosphere of mystery and it just breathes fantasy. It seems that now the paintings will start talking or the statue will leave the room. But... If you haven't seen this film, then I won't say anything about the "but". The ending can really surprise you a lot. This is exactly the case when you don't expect such a denouement of the story. I recommend it.

I decided to occasionally share with you the books, films and TV series that I read/watch and which I liked or disliked. At the same time, I will try to avoid spoilers.

I'll start with "The Woman in the Window" (2021). In fact, very often I first read the book and then find a film adaptation. I was impressed by the book of A. J. Finn. And I became very interested in watching the film afterwards. I can say that the film was shot almost exactly according to the book. Only a few details and scenes were removed from the script, but this didn't change the original story. But, of course, the book makes a deeper impression and effect.

In general, I recommend both.

"Wayward Pines"

I like Blake Crouch's books, not all, but most of them. He's great at spinning thrillers and always has unexpected and fast-paced plot twists. His books have been turned into TV series and movies. And today I'll share one of his works with you. So, this is the "Wayward Pines" Trilogy, a mix of horror and thriller, utopia and fantasy. I read these books with great interest. The mini-series "Wayward Pines", season 1, was filmed based on the trilogy. But the plot has undergone VERY big changes. In general, this is a series based on the general idea. However, it is also quite possible to watch it if you like this genre. P.S. Season 2 is already some kind of fiction outside the books and I have not watched it.

"Behind Her Eyes" (2021) - Mini Series. 

But first there was the book "Behind Her Eyes" by Sarah Pinborough. When I read it, I thought that if the book was ever adapted for the screen, the main character should definitely be played by Sam Heughan. And not only because the main character is a tall, irresistible Scotsman, blond with blue eyes, but also because the role is quite interesting and unusual.

The whole story is unique and extraordinary with a completely unexpected turn of events and an unexpected ending. The film adaptation appeared several years later and, unfortunately, without Sam.

But the cast did a good job and the series was filmed quite accurately based on the book.
