Have you ever made me laugh: Haha yes!5. Have you ever made me mad: Nnooo I don’t think so?6. Best feature: Based on what little I know about you, you seem very fun but also kind and understanding.7. 1, 2, 4, 5, 15, 16, 19, 20, 23 ;>
A lot of these were already answered thanks to those two previous question hoarders but ahh there’s a couple left! :’D
4. have you kept all of your ocs since the beginning?I don’t think I’ve given any away but I might be wrong because my memory is so bad. There are lots that I've scrapped (like every OC from the embarrassing elementary/middle school era) so I guess I didn't 'keep' them, I dunno?
15. would you ever give up any of your ocs?Ahh maybe to some friends if they wanted to use them temporarily, but other than that, no not really. My dear children will stay with me forever, ahaha. <3 I really doubt anyone would actually even want any of my OCs - they aren't that interesting to people who don't know them that well, and those who do, have their own sets of lovely characters so they don't need mine!
Thanks for the ask! <3
12, 16, 25!
12. are any of your ocs siblings? Some of them but not as many as I thought hahah (at first I was like “almost all of them” but then I remembered that most of my characters’ siblings are my friends’ ocs). Zel, Adrian, Julius and Cherie are half-siblings (same mother, different fathers) and then there are Dvasee and Unsa who are a brother and sister.
16. who is your oldest oc (age-wise)?Elijah Weston, a 63 year old priest is the oldest fellow since Zel’s father (known by his alias name only) doesn’t really count. How in the hell do you even count angels’ age.
1, 3, 9 as Karma, 13, 16, 17, 23!
1. who’s your favorite oc?
I hate picking favourites. I grow more and more attached to all my ocs with all the effort I put into developing them. Funnily enough, when I create many headcanons for a canon character that has a lot of free space for extra development, I kinda start to treat them as my own.
But… if all my ocs were presented to me as simply existing characters with no connection to me… I think I would pick Jonah as my favourite. He is anchored in some of my favourite tropes and doesn’t have the kind of flaws that would really bother me.
3. how many ocs do you have?
A lot. But some of them I scrapped completely, about some I still think as okay and remember them fondly, but don’t really do anything with them at this point, some are just glimpses of ocs who just grew around more major ocs, as part of their backstories and such. So if we are talking about major ocs that actually got some significant development… Around 10 maybe?
9. write a few sentences as (oc name)! Karma
I worry about Lenny. People think problem with ghouls is their bodies, but they only show what is much deeper. Their spirits are old, trapped. Too long in one place. Flames of radiation denied them their place in the cycle. No matter how well they seem to cope, you can still feel it, you can know it. All you need to do is look in their eyes.
13. what is the gender of the majority of your ocs?
When I was younger, I was creating mostly female ocs, but right now I think I try to even this out. I enjoy creating both men and women. What makes me happy tho is that I have Jonah and Rean who are both gender fluid.
16. who is your oldest oc (age-wise)?
Out of the ocs I still think about it would definitely be Rean’Eraim. They are a shaman who is changing bodies by merging their spirit with another person (it’s kinda similar to Trills and symbionts in Star Trek, but with the use of awful, soul-wrecking magic). The fact that Rean hardly remembers how everything started for them, or how old they are exactly is one of their more important character traits.
17. have you ever roleplayed as your ocs?
Yep! I made two ocs specifically to roleplay them! Rune Kenneth a former thief, currently cleric of Olidammara and a teenage girl who was heavily based on Alice in Wonderland.
23. which oc do you think has affected you the most as you’ve grown with them?
I think those would have to be ocs who I made when I was much younger and they were gradually changing over time, sometimes with really long breaks in between, so that would be Esther and Sayuri.
6, 23, 25!
6. what is the species of the majority of your ocs?Uhh, I guess most would be humans just because of the cast of Pahantekijä. Otherwise they’re quite evenly spread between different fantasy creatures.
23. which oc do you think has affected you the most as you’ve grown with them?I suppose that would have to be Ausra. Even though Ausra herself is a relatively new character, there were a gazillion proto-ausras, so to speak, for the earlier versions of Pahantekijä storyline. I had so much trouble with writing female characters back when I was younger because I just didn’t appreciate them. I had this perception that female characters had to be written in a certain way that just wasn’t interesting in the least. (This was probably at least partially caused by the lackluster representation of female characters in the media I consumed at the time.) So I had a lot of trouble hammering down her character and I thought she was just a necessary evil. I really, really disliked her.
Then I borrowed this one book about writing (I can’t remember the title or author, ghahh!) and it had a paragraph on writing characters that made me realize that of course I have trouble with this character if I hate her guts before I even know who she is. I realized I had to let go of everything I thought she was - or was supposed to be - and just let her personality flow to my hands from whatever magical place characters and stories come from. It helped immensely, and even though she turned out pretty much the opposite of what I thought I wanted and needed for the protagonist of the story, I accepted it and just went with it.
Now, after years have gone by, she is absolutely one of my favorites. I really enjoy writing her and I think she has helped me realize that there really aren’t any differences in writing characters of different genders. It feels so obvious now that I’m still a bit baffled by how alien of a thought it was to younger me. Mind boggles, but I guess that’s real-life character development for ya!
25. do you have any ocs that you haven’t drawn/written as/talked about in a long time? if so, who?Ghuhh, only like a million! I have entire casts of characters from fantasy stories I wrote as a teen that I’d love to revisit still, RP characters I never really threw out after I stopped RPing, basically all my WoW characters reimagined as characters in my own fantasy world and more. I’m kinda bad at focusing on more than one storyline/headworld at a time and Pahantekijä has eaten most of my focus, so I don’t talk much about the myriad of OCs sitting in the pit.
