They wrote and filmed a scene where Dean says shitting outside is freeing, when they literally only had 45 minutes to wrap up 15 years of television. Like that's what they chose to do with an entire minute of that time.
Literally the finale felt like whenever you watch those weird "reunion" specials where there's not really a plot and they just try to cram as many references in as possible. It was just a bunch of dead air and forced jokes
The outstanding, final message of the show really is "the only way to achieve your true happiness is in death". It was designed so that Cas' happiness was directly linked to his death, he was always going to have to die if he wanted to be happy. Dean was miserable in the finale then he died, went to heaven, and they attempted to imply he was happy now, finally at peace. Sam lived out the rest of his life, but they still managed to imply he was happier once he got to heaven.
And this message of course holds no truth, you do not need to die to be happy, to feel at peace with yourself. Happiness is not rooted in death, it's rooted in life, in the chance to live. But this is the message they went with.......for characters who believed that death was always their only option. and it's sickening.
"felt really good" (x)
Every single day for 7 months I have woken up and thought about how fucking EASILY we could have gotten the "good things do happen dean" "not in my experience" "what's the matter? You don't think you deserve to be saved", parallel. It was right there it, literally it would have written itself could have come full circle
They literally only cut it because Dean was the one to say "to Cas" and they had to have us believe that Cas was gonna come back so we'd watch next week...
Imagine you play a main character on a tv show for 12 years, your character gives a life changing love confession that you fought for years for, is immediately killed, and then you're told that you won't be coming back as your character at all, you'll be playing a different character in the finale-oh wait actually, we're cutting you entirely
